Starfield and it's not close. Spider-Man is boring as hell. Not sure why it scored close to 90 on Metacritic when it does absolutely nothing as an open-world. Huge, boring, and empty. The Batman Arkham series royally shits on it in near every metric and these games were released almost 10 years before.
Literally word for word what I would type.

As in, my feelings exactly

Insomniac just doesn't really have the juice and seem to just make "rocksteady but lamer". Also, personal peeve, hate that they're now fully pushing black Spider-Man as truly the co protagonist. (And I'm black). To me, Spider-Man is Peter Parker.

Starfield + gamepass + community that will come together.

Starfield has the possibility (however minute) of being the game of the century.

Spider-Man has the possibility of being a game of the month and forgotten about in a few years. It has no possibility of being anything more than a fling, albeit an enjoyable one.

It's not even remotely close.
*few weeks

A superhero not named Batman? Get the fuck on outta here with that shit. No thank you

Starfield blew. Me. Away. With that 45 minute demonstration. No amount of sad cynical reductive people can detract from my hype now. It's a endlessly renewable resource. Spider-Man 2 demonstration was a fucking joke. A fucking joke.

I don't know if I'm getting older or what but these big budget playstation exclusives just aren't getting the hooks in me like they used to

I just find it weird that a Spider-Man game is now a big Playstation exclusive ip. Ten years ago a game like that would be a multi platform release.

Spiderman 2 be lookin casual as hell. The game was already made for casuals with streamlined everything including combat. Was hoping Spidey 2 would make some major impr9vements but looks like they changed nothing. Even the web swinging is the same dumbed down, hold R2 to swing

Not happy with what ive seen so far on every level. Graphics dont look like a ps5 only sequel to SM Remastered/MM.

One is a huge new ip from a much loved RPG developer, the other is a dull man in Spandex.

Not exactly a hard decision.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.

Played SpiderMan 1 on mu ps4 pro, didn't like it at all. Probably spent 2-3h (which probably was 50% of the game). For comparison I have spend over 500h+ on Skyrim. So for me Starfield is my choice. I can imagine we will get starfield online after couple of years. It is game that will be played for the next 10-20 years with mods etc. While Spider-Man 2 will be forgotten after first 3 months. And after 1 year will flop on PC being another low quality port.

And thing happening with Me, I dont think it is due to us getting older, or maybe combination of this + the fact that Sony is milking very simialr game design across most of their titles and now are releasing more sequels, prequels, remasters etc. Even GoW ragnarok didn't impressed and original GoW on Ps4 was probably one of my most played PlayStation games last gen. Where games like the order, driveclub, Detroit etc. Which all were new `IPs and some actually very interesting eg. Detroit.

I liked Miles Morales a ton, I'm sure I'll enjoy Spider-Man 2 as well.

But Starfield is the biggest release for me in I don't know how many years.

Zelda TOTK will win the GOTY award, slightly ahead of Baldur's Gate 3, and will deserve it but for me personally Starfield is that once in a decade type of game. Fits me like a glove, the theme, genre, freedom, size. I literally don't know anything on the horizon that could top it for anticipation, everything else seems like snacks.

Will be there day -5 on Steam
Can't wait! 🚀🪐

Yes its all true Sony needs to new single players ips and to open a jarpanese studios please bring backs ICO, gravity rush, warhawk, motorstorm and new ips

Xbox has been crud so far this gen and last gen buuuuuuut Flight Simulator and Starfields look incredibubble

I am not hyped about Spiderman at all - I will play it eventually, but I am not particularly excited by it because I know exactly what to expect.

I am excited by Starfield a lot more, although apprehensive about Bethesda's storytelling. Really hope it will not be another "gather five magical alien artifacts and save galaxy" type of affair.

Most of all I am looking forward to is Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty and Alan Wake 2.

I don't get why would anyone be that hyped for Spider-Man 2, throw a dart at your game collection and you hit 10 other generic open world game that does everything Spider-Man 2 does.

Excited for both, hyped for neither.

Other than scale I don't think they do anything drastically new. Which is fine for me to be honest.

More hyped for starfield, I've bought the controller headset and hopefully limited edition console if that gets announced.

Saying that I bought a second ps5 so that I can play spider man 2 in my bedroom so I'm very excited for that. Loved the last two and insomniac are up there as my top favourite devs so...its gonna be great fun!

Starfield by a long way, It's enough to make me seriously think about building a new PC.
Do it 💪

I built mine last year ( not the best timing since it was ahead of the new Intel CPUs and 3D AMD CPUs )

MS really push hard for Starfield to seem like a Xbox and Gamepass release but for me it has always been a Steam release. There is no other way to play Bethesda RPGs for me these days, the modding is too good. I actually started a Skyrim Anniversary playthrough last night, heavily modded, and it's still such an amazing game 12 years later.

30 million + sellers and evergreen titles like Spider-Man sure do fit your description of games being forgotten about in a month.

Ummm. Not.

I don't agree that Spiderman 2 would be 'forgotten within a month', but sales don't always translate to lasting presence in gaming discourse.
I don't see any excited threads about mega seller Hogwarts Legacy these days, for example.

In terms of sales, Full grownup forum users are really underestimating a lot of 8-12 years old kids going into their favourite videogame store asking when is the new Spider-Man coming.

I don't think anyone's speculated that Spiderman 2 wouldn't sell gangbusters.

Might well be the best selling game this year, possibly with the exception of COD and EA FC.

I like Bethesda games. I always was extremely hyped and loved elder scrolls and fallout. But fallout 4 turned out to be so trash…
Spider man I love the movies but I don't care for the games. I still need to play the original and mm.
So I am not really hyped for either. I will probably check out starfield in gp on pc.

I absolutely refuse to play this game 30fps so I'll get it done... Just might be after launch 😞

Starfield no question, it's a type of game I've been looking forward to a lot, an open world RPG with customizable space ships, space and ground exploration and combat.

I like spiderman, but not in a hurry about it, will probably get it once it hits Steam.

Starfield and it isn't even close.

No disrespect to Spider-Man 2, I'm looking forward to it. But it's a known property and Spider-Man 2 looks like a bigger, graphically fancier, version of the first game.

We don't really know what we're getting with Starfield beyond the elements they've shown off, and if it's even 75% as good as it seems to be, it will be one of the best space exploration RPGs in a long time.

Starfield because I just really don't care about superhero stuff. But for those who do, Spider-Man 2 looks like a good game.

One will be a buggy mess at launch, and the other is more superhero shit, so can't say I'm exactly massively hyped for either at the moment.

I'm likely to play Starfield first though, given GamePass. Spidey can wait until it's much cheaper.

Starfield.

By a long shot.

I never really liked Spider-Man so I have no interest in the game whatsoever.

I know Spider-Man 2 will be a fully functioning game.. Starfield on the other hand... I'm sure it will be great on pc after 6 patches within the next year - console release is a lost cause with 30fps and Series S.

I only just recently finished Miles Morales.....I dont feel like playing the same game again so soon.

I cant wait for Spider-Man 2 to be ported to PC.
