Upon further investigation, I stand corrected. FM23 goes beyond this depending on the car. The issue here is visual feedback isn't provided for the user which is a 180 left to right lock.
Who in their right mind plays wheel with cockpit view, dashcam all the way! Visual feedback is the fucking wheel in your hands no?? As long as the car acts accordingly...

Xbox Series X Native 4k 60fps Mode vs GT7 PS5 quality mode. Same car with same factory paint color Bleu Alpine.
GT7 with the better environment details: higher density grass, tree LOD draw distance, better textures, better shadow resolution, npc crowds cast shadows, lighting, car paint materials and environment material properties are still unmatched. I thought the replays in Forza with the muddy 2d trees were bugged in those videos but that's how the distant trees look in gameplay.

Thank you for this! A proper comparison and the best one I've seen yet!

You can do enough, adjust shaders, adjust polygon counts , adjust procedural shaders, like the road. Implement other types of AA. Etc … the question is, do they want to do the work , on the flipside there won't be another FM in the coming years .. so they have time .

Take WOW as example , they did graphical overhauls when a new version released of the same game .
Dude just compared Forza to WoW, lol. Do you know how many people pay and sub to WoW compared to Forza?

When is that graphics overhaul coming to Forza 7?

Is the saturation and contrast on purpose for Forza or is there some setting that we are supposed to edit.
Cuz it really does look washed out.

Until you actually play it and dont have a high saturation high contrast image right next to it.

I'm certain it's bugged. On my PC I had to lower the in-game gamma to 0.30 for the game to look correct.

All the footage that i've seen, forza has that washed out look,i don't think it's bug,it's just the game that is made this way

Apparently in one of the T10 interviews I clearly remember one of the team talking about the new tech available to them now and how easy things can be implemented compared to before. One such thing was colour grading, could this be the reason?

The Forza hood videos are probably the closest a racing game has come look like a real broadcast. The incredible lighting goes a long way to paint a realistic picture.

I am salivating at the prospect of this engine on the next Forza Horizon game.

I mean just look at this, woooooah...

Shocked by those (lack of) shadows in Forza. It looks so flat.

EDIT: And it has nothing to do with brightness
Maybe because the sun is directly above in Forza, look in the rear window of the Toyota. It's not like GT with its two suns. Shadows coming from the sun in the NE position then that overdone sparkle coming from the car as if there is a sun S/E.

It cannot be stated enough just how bland and bright Forza looks by comparison.
Its a bizarre decision. My guess is that they were going for this look and couldnt quite get it right by launch. I think they showed RTGI clips all the way till E3 and taking that out completely in the last few weeks fucked up their artistic intent.

This is what they wanted the game to look like. Doesnt look washed out or bland here.

I am playing maxed out on PC aside from ray tracing, and it doesnt look like this. It can look stunning at times, but a lot of times it just looks bland.

1. Shows him with his instructor IRL so racer is pushing the narrative there.
2. Clearly using a modified supra in gt7 so will not handle like a real life standard supra.
3. Graphics clearly inferior in fm8 which is the actual topic of this thread.
Hes a youtube racer who often praises GT7 and Asseto Corsa.
He just so happens to also get IRL seat time to compare games to real life.
Unless he has the Supra and its a track day, they almost always have an instructor with you for insurance purposes.
He has seat time in IRL races.
He has no reason to shill for GT7, Asseto Corsa or Forza, its his opinion that Forza plays more realistically based on his IRL seat time.

And yes, this is a discussion about graphics, of which the jurys still out, until T10 tell us why the game looks so washed out and lacking saturation, imma hold my tongue....im hoping an update comes out that lets us modify contrast and saturation.

P.S IRL video streams are usually actually more washed out....I just dont particularly like that look in my games.

Kireth is not to be trusted. His whole shtick is to bait people and say anything for views. He's been called out by multiple channels because of this. That dude made dozen of Gran Turismo bait videos and misleading title/thumbnails on his channel. It's no surprise that he's trying to entice forza fans recently.

Gran Turismo 7 has sort of an artistic beauty that is completely devoid in Forza. This passion for cars and racing is just brimming within GT7 whereas Forza looks fairly mundane in that regard.
From the minute you turn the game on and watch the unskippable 10 minute intro movie you realize the kind of love and passion for automobiles this game and it's development team has.

There's simply no other racing game like Gran Turismo and probably never will be.

Forza sometimes has good angles on replay and IMO when there is no direct light, it can looks more realistic, GT is not bad either. Forza also has better rain atmosphere, fog, mist and their engine is capable of handling multiple light sources in night. But in other conditions GT looks considerably better.

In regard to car culture, agreed. Particularly on console. Forza always feels like a good game series, whereas GT is something else. In the end, they both do set out to simulate real driving, but one presents it in a manner that clearly shows where its creators minds are with respect to the vehicles themselves.

From GT5 prologue to GT7 they kept improving. It was not easy. Forza Motorsport 3/4 was actually better in many ways from the physics, sounds, livery editor, customisation and other stuff. We should give credit to Turn 10 as well. They know their stuff.

PD kept improving and now GT7 is one of the finest racing games ever made.

I think this goes a long way explaining how Gran Turismo can be so artistic yet realistic at the same time.

Fuck i thought i was the only one. It the GT screens, the shadows aren't compatible with the sun shining on the back windows.

Forza, something is not right. It looks all over the place with the lighting and gamma.

Well this is the amateurs thread.

Ah back with the cherrypicked Emula shots. 80% of the people liking his shit would shit on everybody else if they posted other twitter trolls that favored the other game like he does to GT.

It's very pro Sony in general round here so doesn't surprise! Both games look great and excel in different areas.

I like comparisons but only trust your own eyes if you have played both, and if people haven't played both they have no right to judge which game has better graphics. Too much cherry picking or even just slight TOD or weather can make big differences to lighting etc

I really like the first Forza image, think it looks very natural there.
i been playing forza and have yet to be wowed by the visuals, which is weird because, i had both games running on each of my monitors and its Definity more detailed then gt7 in the environments but gt7 has amazing lighting and the cars just seem to look more real, forza paint on the cars just doesn't look that great to me, the cars look photo real like gt7

Looks like John has put his Forza vs GT7 comparison video on the backburner. he said hes working on mario, an interview with insomniac and some other game, but no mention of the GT7 vs Forza comparison he said he was doing last week.

He always said he will do that in November. So, probably not coming any time soon.

I dont know whats more realistic but having played A LOT of races and events over the weekend, I have truly come to appreciate the track layouts in Forza. GT has tracks that are way too technical. Lots of twists and turns. Forza is all about speed and taking those curbs at high speed. I LOVE doing that instead of slowing down to a crawl to go through the numerous chicanes in GT7. The feeling of maximizing track limits holding your breath to see if you got a penalty if you screwed up is what makes racing in Forza so much more fun imo. The perfect balance between sim and arcade.

Forza has better GI but looks washed out while GT7 looks gamey, but has way better colors. I prefer the Forza look but I wish there was a middle ground between the two.
I feel like there's some kind of sharpening going on with forza motorsport. that is what makes foliage look cartoonish and enhances the washed out effect

you can reduce or turn off sharpening in forza horizon 5 on PC for example. when you crank sharpening up max, it too looks washed up and cartoonish with TAA

of course when you don't use sharpening, it just ends up looking super blurry

but at least it would look natural and beauty

I don't understand the obsession with sharpening. more so with special sharpeners. the best sharpener there is to have is AMD CAS. yet them forza and halo devs think their own janky sharpeners will do the trick.

I even tried 4k dlss quality in this game just now and this combo makes practically all games look preem. this is one of the rare games where 4k dlss quality combo looks like... native 1080p taa of the past. it is some crazy stuff.
