Split Fiction PS5 Pro vs Switch 2 comparison

The hardware leaves much more on the table dormant without a power supply than NS1 did so we'll see.
It will be interesting to see when released how games will perform. I played spiderman remastered on my rog ally a few months ago and thought wow this looks almost like the ps5 version. It looked great on the small screen.
But when I docked it to my 65 inch tv it looked and performed way worse and looked even below the ps4 version in some ways lol. I think playing something like cyberpunk on switch 2 on a big tv is gonna be pretty eye opening.

Yeah it's like how Tears of the Kingdom looks better handheld than docked, because even though the docked system has more power, it's not enough to prevent it from looking as pixelated as SNES on a 65 inch screen. (I use a 1080 47" set for docked games and it served me very well, Zelda looked good).

Thing is this time they have DLSS and a bigger power boost. So I agree it will be very interesting to compare when it's in our hands.

For now, yes.

I'll get a switch 2 when they decide to do what they should have done in the first place and launch an oled model.

Having gone from the original deck LCD to then the OLED model, I'm not making that same mistake again.
Yeah I won't try to debate you on that, it's a weird downgrade for sure, I have the OLED Zelda special edition, it'll be a downgrade even when looking at it on the dock.

But still, I can't stay away. Already preordered and I can't wait for launch!

The PS5 version has higher resolution textures and better lighting. This isn't exactly the most polygon pushing game made in UE5 but it's good to see UE5 games run better on Switch 2 than UE4 games ran on Switch.

I've been saying this since spec rumors, we'll be splitting hairs over version differences while most normal people will just see the same game running competently and not care. When I say competently I mean the average joe would have to dig and try to figure out what the difference is instead of just looking at it like Hogwarts.

For how well NS1 did with that handicap this is gonna be a bloodbath.
This is what a lot of people on here don't get. I'm enthusiast and hardcore by some definition, playing games for 33 years now. About three or four of those I gave a shit about performance/resolution, the rest of the time I played games and enjoyed them.
Would I be happy if most devs prioritise 60fps and then build their game around it? Most definitely. But most don't, so I have a decision to make. And my decision is having fun with the games, and I can manage that even if they run like shit like Shadow of the Colossus on PS2 back in the day. Ran at 16fps sometimes....made it to the top of my top10 immediately.
The Switch2 won't have an impact like the first one, but lower resolutions and framerates in comparison with ps5pro and the like won't be the reason.
Most people will be more than happy with the capabilities of this thing, me included :messenger_sunglasses:

The game looks fucking great on Switch 2. Without being on my actual gaming setup I can't even tell much of a difference. Switch 2 is a very powerful console for a portable. There is also another thread about it kicking the steamdecks ass on cyberpunk and another article about it kicking the XSS ass on SF6, and many more. The thing is badass. Nintendo is going to cook on this thing.

You just perfectly described the wii u in comparison to wii lol good luck

If the Wii U's gimmick, branding and everything else hadn't been all wrong, the graphics would have been good enough.

75 million MK8 on Switch vs 8m on WiiU has to be explained with something more than that many people demanded a portable version or no buy.

the Wii U's hardware wouldn't have been good enough to get third party support even on the level of the Switch 1.
the Wii U's hardware lacked modern features that ports of Xbox One and PS4 games would need to even function correctly.

there's a reason many cross gen games from gen7 to gen8 often needed a ton of reworking, sometimes completely different engines/older engine versions to be possible.
Forza Horizon 2 on 360 runs on a last gen engine compared to the Xbox One version. it's not even entirely the same game and is paired back in terms of open world freedom. and Rise of the Tomb Raider was developed by a separate team that had to create Xbox 360 compatible assets to function.

even tho the Switch wasn't much more powerful than the Wii U (basically on par with it in handheld mode), its way more modern nvidia GPU meant porting gen8 games was actually possible without a full engine rework or a full asset swap.
Doom 2016 would probably not be possible on the Wii U in the form it runs on Switch, neither would Witcher 3.

Switch 2 haters moving the goalposts list:

-Is going to be a Switch Pro less powerful than the PS4
-Is going to be less powerful than the Steamdeck
-Steamdeck is a 2022 handheld and the Switch is $450 Great achievement.
-Is going to be less powerful than the PS4 Pro lol keep dreaming
-Of course is going to be better than consoles from 2013
-120hz screen for a Nintendo Handheld lolol Hopium
-No way is going to be close to the Series S 0% chance

-Lol… is Running PS5/Series 60fps games at 30fps … Not surprised at all<- We are here.

This is not a very demanding game, and I guess that a PS4/Xbox One port could have been made. The first point still holds in handheld mode.
