It's the type of movies I love. Korean movies in recent years have been a let down in that weird department. Korean comedy movies, however, fucking hilarious.

Still doesn't ring a bell. Has been what? Short of 20 years or so I've seen it. I loved the gore and shit and remember liking the movie for what you mentioned above.
I recently binged Utopia on YouTube and there's a nasty torture scenes in it and above that one of the best serie I've seen in a very long time. It's free on YT high quality 10 hour. I highly recommend it.
If you just want to watch the above mentioned scene it starts at 47.30 min.

Yeah, August Underground is pretty bad. It and Serbian Film definitely fall into the "shock jock" category. There are no real cinematic virtues to the films, it's purely "how debased and disgusting can we possibly get."
I wouldn't recommend watching either of them, it makes the "torture porn" of stuff like Hostel look like Mr. Roger's by comparison.

The deaths and violence in Climax was unsettling. Especially if you've dealt with a "bad trip" with psychedelics, everything felt grounded and a little too real.
Beau is Afraids paint drinking scene, as insane and intentionally funny it was the tragedy that would randomly strike was nuts, especially that scene.

Only once. I was 9 years old and when my parents were out I put on Braveheart. It was the Battle of Stirling, and I thought it was the coolest fucking thing. But then at some point I started feeling sick to my stomach. I kept watching until I threw up.

First one is the tamest (but still above stuff like The Serbian Film or The Martyrs). But it's also the most realistic looking. Anyone could easily mistake it for being real footage.
Second one is the most "extreme". It's the one that only goes for the shock value without any restrain and it crosses the line where it becomes silly. It's also the worst looking one, i can barely tell what's happening.
Third is the cinematic one. It's very well shot and looks more like a "proper" movie, which makes it an easier watch. It also has the most impressive gore. It's the one that got under my skin the most as well. I appreciate the first movie but this one is my favorite of the three.

It left me in a bad mood because of how stupid it is.
There were four (that's 4) adults in that car. Supposedly the most rational ones. And nobody protested on this? They all agreed? After all they went through to save their lives?
The answer i usually get is that they were desperate and "you don't know how you would feel in that situation" etc. Which is very predictable. But again, FOUR people. At the very least one would say, nah, fuck it, i rather wait until the last second for something to happen. Heck, i would expect at least one to be afraid to kill themselves. It's not like everyone has the courage to do it. But they all just agreed and they all seemed to have the same emotional reaction to it. No panic, no fear, no second thoughts, no last second remorse, no nothing. Yeah, seems like a dead end, let's kill ourselves. What bullshit.
It's another movie that tries to convince you suicide is easy. Same with people sacrificing themselves, i see that in every other movie. Basically, characters in movies don't value their life much.
Oh and that wasn't the book ending. No surprise there.

That was the genius of the "extra" ending. Those folks were DONE. Totally spent, physically and emotionally. They thought the WORLD was gone. The things in it were horrible, violent, and killed in painful and gruesome ways. A bullet to the head was the ultimate mercy and Jane made the ultimate decision as a father. That he then lived knowing they were seconds away from safety (and the other family did survive) was the most horrible thing I can imagine as a father myself.

Keep in mind they didn't know how far the mist was spread. They just assumed it took over the world? That's another stupid reason to end yourself. These characters weren't supposed to be stupid.
The only reason they ruined the characters in the movie to do this was for the "oh snap" moment at the end.
I don't see this as genius. It was actually very stupid.
It would be much more believable if the father was alone with the child. With nobody else to seek comfort.
I can see one person deciding to do this but not four at the same time.

The car had run out of fuel though, and everyone they'd seen walk into the mist was killed (or seemingly killed) almost instantly. So since you'd last seconds trying to make it on foot it may as well have taken over the whole world.

There were 4 people in the car. I don't know why this gets ignored. It's statistically impossible they would all agree to kill themselves at that particular point in time. Even 2 out of 4 would be a reach IMO but 4 out of 4 is bullshit.
Most people would still wait it out as much as possible. They weren't dying from thirst or hunger yet, did they? The car wasn't slowly getting submerged into water or something, there wasn't a fire coming closer and closer to them. They had plenty of time. So why not wait as much as they could, in case something happens like, dunno, some other group of cars comes close by or the army reaches them and saves them (oh snap). You would do the same, i would to the same and most people here would too. You might disagree and say "i would kill myself" but that's only because Hollywood convinced you that you would. But you wouldn't. 90% people wouldn't at that point.
That ending was just Hollywood stupid and not realistic at all.

I haven't read the book, i only saw the movie as well. And i was curious about it because the ending was so "lets shock the normies" stupid for me. I even remember thinking there's no way the book ends this way.
The original ending is more open ended where they continue to drive in the mist and it doesn't tell you if it took over the world or not. Which, i suppose, is not a good ending for a mainstream movie
