PS Stars will no longer give points for subscriptions starting March 1st, 2025

Also, points reward expires in 12 months instead of 24.

It was a nice bonus program to reward player, but Sony has to find an angle to fuck up, sigh.

Nevermind, I'm not awake yet and read it wrong, bad change for Extra/Premium subscribers but thankfully I'm not one of them and Sony just gave me another reason why I shouldn't be. But I'm annoyed I didn't get monthly campaign this month for Essential sub like I always do because of a bug.

Come on guys, that 5 dollars worth of points for the 12 people who subbed to Premium that actually use Stars was devastating Paystation financially.
Concord was in development for 8 years! Cut them some slack!

the more i will buy from nintendo switch online voucher , its about $90 in my local currency thus $45 for one 1st party game.
will save me at least $20 dollars if i were to buy physically + local shipping

after buying the online voucher , ninty gives a certain amount of gold coins , its little but better than nothing

I knew they were gonna downgrade the whole experience by lowering the rewards. Just like Microsoft points, it was easy to accumulate when the service started and it was worth the daily login hassle.

Make the new service really interesting and get as many people registered as possible then gradually take away one advantage after another.

According to the link you still get points for purchases done as a PS+ subscriber.

And I neither have plus nor do I collect points.

But some of the digital collectibles looks cool and shiny ✨
 
I instantly got Sony Rewards program flashbacks. I remember how they slowly killed that program. They may as well kill this program now as far as im concerned.
 
Fuck you Sony. Just more ways for the big corporations to fuck you. Why change it now? It's meant to reward players. Not like it was some lucrative method of getting free shit.

I thought it was a decent enough program. Got about $40 out of it- which is better than most things out there.

If you buy a lot of digital stuff from Sony you have points that you can use...to give back to them for more of their games.

I thought this was just a sink hole created to make you spend money and earn useless digital trophies I had no idea they gave you points for buying stuff and they allow you to buy games with those points. I just slept on the whole thing.

Yesterday I clicked on the wrong area of the PS app and found out I have 20k points and those points can expire.

Where is it on the app? I have no idea how many, if any, I have.
 
I had stacked PS+ Premium up until something like 2027 before the PS Stars program was even a thing so I wasn't earning points on subs anyway but it sucks nonetheless that there is one less way to earn those points now.

Here is how I found out:

After pressing on your name/avatar on the main app screen you will see your points balance.

Pressing on your "level" will take to to another screen which will let you browse "rewards"

With your 20,000 points you can actually get £60 wallet funds. That's a new game of your choosing (or £10 shy depending on what you get)

Stars is awesome. When I found out about it, I bought SF6 at launch for 25 bucks less. And last week I got 40 bucks from it, which makes Silent Hill essentially 30 bucks.

FYI, use them for store credit.
