South of Midnight coverage coming

So if you have seen that thread before, why were you asking this?:
Missed not in my previous post, I have not seen that other thread before, but it doesn't change anything, if the skin colour change of the protagonist get someone fired up they should seek professional help.

Not only that, but is it me or do all of these modern games have these generic looking red colored enemies. The tree thing she's fighting just looks like Kenna Bridge of Spirits or something.
It definitely has a Kenna vibe at times. Feels like it could be similar to a old school PS2 era adventure game like Maximo or Starfox Adventures or something. Exploration, light combat, light platforming.

Lotta people here can't read or are gaslighting pasterpl pasterpl into thinking they can't read. Just to summarize, someone says it looks like a SBI game specifically based on how the character looks and only that.

pasterpl pasterpl asks what aspect of the character's look makes him think this? Zero coherent response.

The answer is she is a black woman. Everyone knows that's exactly what's being said here. What's hilarious is the people rushing to run defense for it. This isn't talking about the writing, or the community manager, or anything but the look of the character.

One of my favorite games ever is Watch Dogs 2, the main character is black so your argument is buried in one second

What I do hate is the propaganda from Sweet Baby Inc, not the colour of the skin of a character or the gender. Besides, due to how much damage SBI has done to this industry, I have learned to recognize patterns and red flags and this trailer has a few of them, one being the design of the main character

It's not just the skin colour change that's the issue though, you should try reading through the thread to get an understanding of why people will be wary towards this title considering the people involved at the studio.

Another 'sweet' failure.

Remember reading they race swapped the heroine after sweet baby joined the project. Not sure how true it is.

Looks like ass anyhow

It's honestly not my argument, it's your argument. There is not really any other coherent identifier other than her race and gender here. Do all have SBI have that hairstlye, accent, anything else? No. It's black woman = SBI.

It's fine to point out patterns and not like woke stuff, but maybe step back from the ledge if you're going to profile any game with a black woman. That's you taking your hatred of SBI stuff and going off the deep end and people called you on it. Step back from the ledge and keep focused on SBI if that's your actual problem.

Well there is the the whole "I hate gamers" and "white male gamers were a mistake" angle that I think we are taking objection with.

Likely because she has the same patented ugly as fuck look all DEI's have.

I do like this up-tick in new style of animation though. It looks like stop motion. Other games seem to making similar animation styles. But Sweet Baby really turns me off.

Though just by glancing at this, it seems like it's set in a New Orleans type of environment, a setting that would actually make sense to lean into a black character with black culture.

"Its not my argument, is your argument"

Man are you serious? Am I talking with an adult here or a teenager pretending to be an adult

Get out of my sight

The gameplay video looked great. The art style isn't really my thing though. Good thing gameplay is where it is at for me.

Love the art style and animation in the cutscenes, the gameplay is giving Kena Bridge of Spirits vibes a bit for some reason.

It's a common complaint against DEI works. 🤷‍♂️
I'm aware. And yet he couldn't answer the question directly and people had to pull in community manager shit to run cover for him.

All I'm saying is, if that's how people actually think that is actually racist. And maybe step back from the cliff and check yourself. Focus on SBI criticism and not that shit.

I really liked the gameplay reveal trailer. I would like to see more. but I can see my self playing this for abit.

I know you're joking but it would be ironic if that's all you noticed. :messenger_tongue:

Putting a photo-realistic model face on the cartoonish art style isn't any better, but that's not what jumps out as the funny thing about the tweet saying it "fixed" the protagonist, lol.

This will be a nice change of pace kinda game that I'll definitely play on Gamepass. The game looks well made, unique in it's art-style and combat actually looks kinda fun. It falls in the category of the Plague's Tale games for me. I didn't buy either of them, but did finish them both on gamepass. Eventually they came to Humble Bundle and I have em on Steam now.

I wasn't sure is it on purpose or just a odd bug.

Regardless if the story holds, I am in (at least to try it).
In the cut-scenes it's definitely a deliberate artistic choice, it was even there in the CG announcement trailer.

The game play, thankfully, seems to run at a proper 60fps going by the showcase coverage.
I hope the cutscenes are in real-time so this effect can have a toggle switch (or be modded out).

Game looks quite good to me, really like the southern bayou accents on the characters.

I like the style, but the gameplay looked a bit dull.

Follow the marker, get in a fight arena with enemy, dodge roll, dodge roll, hit, hit, enemy defeated, you can now leave the arena and follow the marker again.

Hopefully there's more to it.

I expect it to be somewhat nausea inducing for people who get motion sickness.

Best case scenario is if there's a toggle, but I don't know if they will do that since it seems to be tied to the games visual identity so heavily.

So basically bigger cleavage with some side boobs and traditional face and it is all Ok - got it. Not sure how this would fit in with the rest of the game stylistic. But what seems to be a main issue is the looks and skin colour. We know f*ck all when it comes to story etc. So criticism based on things I have mentioned above is just shallow. Never understood people crying because of these things.

Well there is the the whole "I hate gamers" and "white male gamers were a mistake" angle that I think we are taking objection with.
Sad thing is that it kind of make sa]ense, but I read this as a hyperbole, in addition, It seems that huge subset of these that are complaining is in fact white gamers - I am white gamer, originally from very conservative country (thank got that I left it when I was 20), grew up in strict catholic household, and I don't give a fuck about things like this. I hate church, racist people, bigots etc. Scum of the earth.

But please, you stated that this is Sweet Baby Gamę inc first I just want to know why/what bothers you in this trailer that you came to this conclusion?

Ok let me guess;
  1. Is it because she is black?
  2. Is it because she is a woman?
  3. Is it because she isn't wearing miniskirt or very thin dicing suit/lates?
  4. Is it because you think her body proportions are not your type?
  5. Is it because of her accent?
  6. Is because of her sexual preferences?
I really would like to know if I am dealing with bigot, racist, incel or something completely new?

The protagonist/setting was completely changed based on SB's recommendation. It is quite literally a "Sweet Baby" game.

Anyway, I thought this looked like it might be a fun action/adventure, so we'll see how it turns out. I didn't like the half-frame animation they're using on the character itself, and hopefully that can be turned off.

I find it hard to believe you haven't called out others like Aloy.
Never understood that - the whole Alloy "scandal", same with the female character "issues" some where having. I have heard some people had issues with some female characters in TLOU2 - never was able to get that. As I said, I don't care about these things.

I personally think this game looks dull, but this is so dumb when you take into account the game's actual art direction.
I think she looks unappealing, but that's IMO the case with the art style as a whole. I have no doubt that I will say the same for every other character in the title.

Being optimistic it'll be on the level of dragon age veil guard.

Being on the GAFFer posting side, it'll be a 0/10 concord mega flop and I hope they burn in hell!

It'll be one or the other.

Something about this game doesn't feel authentic, it feels less like black people worked on this and instead it's how an SBI think-tank thinks how a black person would make a game.
