they are right: COD and Jones are pushing Xbox (ahead) off the edge of the cliff. Too bad Xbox can't fly, that's why it's free falling.
What does this even mean? You can't just throw words together and expect them to make sense.

"I'll have a foursome with Emilia Clarke, Ana de Armas, and Sydney Sweeney. Ring up this post 10 years from now. You'll see."Lol you perfectly know that no one will ask you 10 years later, so you can write any garbage "prediction" you want.
'WARNING, the Dung Slayer has entered the facility'2025 year of THE xbox , will slay playstation and switch 2 simultaneously

Exactly.I haven't seen anything in any video to show me this warrants a GOTY nod, just my 2 cents
Imo, it kind of looks boring.I haven't seen anything in any video to show me this warrants a GOTY nod, just my 2 cents
Besides, TGA isn't the only awards show. There will be plenty next year, covering the entire year. If Indiana Jones, the 41st best-reviewed game of 2024, is good enough to nominate/win GOTY, it will.
Sharing supporting data is now obnoxious? And making ridiculous claims like Indiana Jones is GOTY, totally ignoring 40 other games that scored better this year is perfectly fine?Holy shit some of you have become obnoxious
I want Wukong to wipe the floor at GOTY awards to fucking head stomp all those score conceptions you guys have.
And people got mad at me for saying this game won't sell particularly well on PS5 next year.Yep. All the GOTY talk is delusional.
Indiana Jones is currently the 13th best game on Xbox Series X|S this year. And the 41st best game overall.

Now they are all pretending as if it would have been GOTY if not for the cut-off date. lmao.
And we know what happened with Black Myth Wukong. The game is absolutely a 90+ but was dragged down by stupid reviewers taking points off for diversity, Chinese-phobia, and whatnot.Sure.
But when # 127 gets a nomination over so many other deserving games, you know the whole thing is fucked up, less about critical or academic success and more of a popularity contest (or to appease geoff's Chinese sponsors)

Agree with most of what you said before, but Avowed gonna flop. Worse than Veilguard.People are downplaying Avowed as well. Prepare to be surprised.
Unfortunately we are. After the Outer Worlds, I'm not expecting much from modern Obsidian RPGs.
To right, all this slander for years, people have been laughing at me, trying to get me sectioned for my views, well your not laughing now. Xbox reign of terror is upon us, teasing everyone with these big boy games on other platforms then go exclusive again, Nintendo, PS and PC mandem will be flocking for the Xbox at the time.
Phil Spencer will have you all bowing so much you end up with a twisted spine.

It's only getting its due recognition after great user scores and good word of mouth from gamers.

I bet it sells decently on PS5And people got mad at me for saying this game won't sell particularly well on PS5 next year.
The game isn't even that popular on Xbox own platform.
Probably. I'm still gonna stick with ~1-2M copies range.I bet it sells decently on PS5
Not sure we can take anything from what little data is out there right now as far as how popular it actually is on Xbox since its only in early access atm
I love it very much but if ant game is an epitome of an acquired taste — it's Indiana. Critics are overselling it a lot.Exactly.
A good game? Sure.
A GOTY winner? Lol no.
People are being delusional here because the cut-off data is already set and there is no possibility of Indiana Jones competing in the GOTY list at TGA, so they can pretend whatever they want now.
Would we be talking about Indy and GOTY if it had scored 75? No, we would not. Why pretend critical reception for games are not a factor here?
Yeah, but that's also a game that broke single player game records on Steam. I don't think anyone is suggesting critical reception is the only factor here.
There's actually quite a few 90~ games that got snubbed, UFO 50, Satisfactory, even Tekken 8 are all 90 or above that rightfully could have been in the main nomination list as well.
And we know what happened with Black Myth Wukong. The game is absolutely a 90+ but was dragged down by stupid reviewers taking points off for diversity, Chinese-phobia, and whatnot.

So what's the threshold where we do not think of GOTY based on score? There's a real possibility that a 81 score game beats out a 94 score game in less than a week.
It's 100% going to be the top scoring game in the user voting category.DeepEnigma likely (correctly) predicted that there will be a lot of vote farming going on.
There are no alternatives to consoles now and in the foreseeable future!Consoles are a dying breed. ring up this post 10 years from now you'll see.
GOTY discussion is a bit complicated.
In 2020, id Soft released Doom Eternal, thats considered greatest shooters ever made, myself included. But its hardly won any GOTY awards.
Same for Half Life Alyx.
Instead, practically everyone gave it to a very divisive game.
So, GOTY awards hardly mean anything, its like music. I hardly enjoy any grammy winners.
There are no alternatives to consoles now and in the foreseeable future!
Yeah, Keighley doesn't pick the list. It is the a host of game critics' and reviewers (the same guys whose score become a part of the games' Metacritic scores) that select the GOTY nomination list and the GOTY.Ok but if critical reception are both are a factor but also not the only factor and some part of sales success also gets factored in, then Keighley should have replaced BM Wukong with Black Ops 6, it has both a higher critical reception and has likely sold more already.
It's very easy to poke holes in their nomination criteria even removing Indy from the equation altogether. I, personally, believe BM Wukong is only there as some kind of a sponsorship 'gimme'.
Absolutely.Same for Prey in 2017. I mean, compared to PUBG and Horizon Zero dawn in the GOTY contenders of the same year, what a farce in retrospect. BOTW would have still cleaned house but still, not even a nomination.
Half Life Alyx is the best gaming experience I've had in the past 15 years. Not even GOTY contender, it's GOAT.
Can Sony ponies beat Chinese bots?

Media Companies get paid to write this....People get paid to write this, can you imagine?
lol keep dreamingUltimately they probably make more money than selling plastic boxes with low margins for the sake of epeen online wars from gamers hanging on a gaming forum with less than 10k members.
Microsoft didn't get to a $3T company by traditional "what it was like before" means. Consoles are a dying breed. ring up this post 10 years from now you'll see.

While that is true, and this goes for both PS folks and Xbox folks, games don't cease to exist after they have been released. The catalog of titles available for both consoles this holiday is more than just "Indy" and "COD" for those shoppers who wait for holiday sales, etc. Sony had releases earlier in the year while Xbox has had them near the end of the year (not accounting for third-party right now obviously); given the main titles we're highlighting here for MS are Indy and COD, which shows how important getting Activision and Bethesda was.The momentum has put Xbox in front of longtime rival PlayStation. "From a pure content perspective, we must conclude that Microsoft's portfolio is now quite a bit stronger than Sony's,"
Between CoD and Indy, the Xbox brand's holiday content portfolio *is* stronger. You don't really need to be a blue boy or a green bean to see that.
Nowhere in the article does it talk about hardware sales, which most people just reacting off of the headline seem to jump to.

Annuals like COD are rarely ever in consideration for GOTY awards. Keighley doesn't get a vote. Below is a link to the "voting jury". They cast ballots and that's who gets in.
I agree, for this holiday season. I think when it is all said and done, more will purchase and play on PlayStation. Unless it takes off on PC.Have a feeling the vast majority are going to play this via gamepass, doesn't strike me as a great game to buy
Cry more. Many of those juries gave the game in question (BM: W) low 8's or high 7's, which makes its inclusion over so many other nominees even more sus.
It's by far and wide the one nominee that stands out, and not in the good way. Personally, I thought Rebirth was highly over rated but it has the critical reception to back it up along with its devoted fanbase, so while I disagree with it being there, there's actual good reasons for it. Can't say the same for BM: W.

I've had one-night stands with 6's and 9's and many 6's were much more enjoyable than the 9's.

Microsoft got to be a $3T company by doing what they have been unable to do in the video game market, EEE.Microsoft didn't get to a $3T company by traditional "what it was like before" means. Consoles are a dying breed. ring up this post 10 years from now you'll see.
You can willfully miss the point, it's not going to change the fact that Indy isn't going to be a nominee at the Game Awards and it probably still wouldn't have won if it was.I'm not in the habit of fucking video games, but no kink shaming.
But I digress, a 6 wouldn't even be in the discussion for GoTY and if it was, you know some goooooood money had exchanged hands.
I really think is of no benefit to Xbox. This is a title that will primarily be played through Game Pass on Xbox. Just looking at Steam it is either unpopular or is being primarily being played through Game Pass there. Unless this sells 3 to 4 million on PlayStation then it will likely be a loss. This isn't Call if Duty where it will sell 20 million so who cares where it's played. This is a game that in an alternate timeline would be something that would push console sales if it was an exclusive. I could be wrong and it could sell 7 million on the PlayStation but I doubt it.
I know ya'll are just discussing different point of views here. This article in question is just looking at the things that MS is doing well with their portfolio and Game Pass. Some of the moves MS has made is bound to bear fruit; we know they're serious about pushing game pass (so naturally it will affect some sales), so if they can get subscribers, even for a month or two, and they can keep that pattern going, they'll likely consider that a success.lol no. This article isn't just about a subjective view of the author about which company has better content. He is specifically talking about sales. Maybe not console sales necessarily, but definitely software sales.
"In the fourth quarter of 2024, when consumers largely look to buy and gift AAA titles, there's no new generation of consoles — usually the driving force behind game purchases — on the market. And Xbox is in the best position to get the Christmas cash with the Dec. 9 launch of "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle," the industry's biggest new game of the year."
Since you agree with this post completely, do you think:
Let us know. We'll be able to verify this in software sales charts later.
- Indiana Jones will be the best selling game this Holiday season?
- And, Indiana Jones is the biggest new game of the year?
I don't think you get early access with Game Pass though. The game hasn't released yet, only those who have paid for early access, also the game is on game pass.
Xbox winning back mindshare![]()
I would add Microsoft and Xbox to that list too.Eh....if you are going to claim bias because it isn't on PlayStation then it is fair to point out that you have a bias towards all things Disney/Lucasfilm/etc.
