To be fair, these global bestseller lists are showing daily sales. Considering Indy just launched, no other major game is launching at a similar timeframe beyond Path of Exile 2 (which has significantly higher CCU while being in Early Access) and Steam Sale ended a week ago, Indy would always be on that bestseller list. Veilguard also occupied highest spots on bestseller lists when it launched but everything we learned so far seems to imply that sales of that game weren't really that great

I do kinda wonder if anyone under the age of 40 cares so I did some searches.
If you're 23 years old now, Raiders of the Lost Ark came out 20 years before you were born. For anyone who is 40 now, when you were 23 the equivalent movies are perhaps The Good The Bad and The Ugly or You Only Live Twice. ...or the possibly less suitable for adaptation, The Graduate (or maybe the Jungle Book), which I think would have still been interesting a couple of decades after their release.
So, I kinda think that though Indy is a character from another era, it doesn't automatically preclude people knowing about the films and prevent them from enjoying it. As to whether there's any chance of as much excitement for it versus a more current franchise, probably not.

Also Indiana Jones as an IP is simply dead. They were probably better off making the same game with no Indy, getting them more money per copy sold and massively reducing the budget and risk.
I remember talking about how the advertising never really gave me an indication of what the game actually played like. I also talked about the transitions being harmful to immersion.
The last Lucasfilm movie was arguably worse than the Disney one. The Indiana games made by Lucas Games were also very uneven in terms of quality.

Too late imo. For that to work it needs people en masse who still care about Indiana Jones.
They went with the path of Indiana passing the torch on to someone else like twice now and both bombed.
They should have just recasted Harrison and made Indiana into a Bond-like character, where it's a prestigious role and big actors would vie for the role. Sean Connery didn't keep on being Bond for life.
Speaking of Uncharted, Sony needs to keep up the pace and make a new one imo.

Becuase this is a genuine assed genuine video game in a sea of sequels, remakes and recycled trash. If this fails and becomes another game people choose not to play because of system wars or something else weird like fake DEI / Sweet baby outrage then our industry is truly dying at an unfortunate rate.

Decent PC port, visually impressive, well optimized, good reception on steam but no one wants to play it or at least no one wants to buy it on Steam. I have to admit that my interest is also very low and I still have GPU until May next year. I could play it on GP, but I'd rather play POE2, Enshrouded and Helldivers 2.

His desperation to make this into a hit is remarkable tbh. It's doing ok imo, but it's clearly not selling gangbusters either.
It's also an expensive game coming out right after Black Friday/Cyber Monday has tapped out everyone's pockets.
All the other ones you mentioned are cheaper and pack greater run times. PoE2 is going to be F2P later on too.

Man fanboyish is a hell of a drug. The game is not a success no matter how many mental flips you do.
The game is doing abysmal and the studio will be lucky not to be closed. Which would be a shame because they are a very good studio and the game is actually pretty good.
I think the xbox brand is poison these days (and people still don't go out in droves to buy immersive sims which is too bad because they are great).

I rewatched Temple and Raiders and these movies still slap. I am excited about delving inside the Circle, and once finished, watch rest of the movies (still haven't seen Destiny).
But I do think the days of Indiana Jones as a mainstream popular IP are long gone. Most zoomers probably don't even know who Indiana Jones is, and boomers are kinda over it too.
I wonder what the sales are on console and what they will be on PS5, but I have serious doubts the game will recoup its budget anytime soon, if ever.

The game seems to be more an immersive sims\adventure game in first person with a lot of puzzle solving, definitely a pc centric genre, unless i missed all these successful first person advanture with focus on puzzle on console...
Immersive sims just do poor numbers as usual and people don't give a fuck anymore about indiana jones.
This is definitely not a console focused game, the game is more similar to thief\dishonored than uncharted\tomb raider, not sure why people think otherwise, this is a pc ass centric game if i ever seen one, combat is an afterthough and i heard people not using their gun for the first 7 hours?! There were certain aspects that had quality irt Concord. In particular animations, graphics and performance. Iirc even DF stated so.
That's just objectivity.
Indy isn't doing that well either, which is the bottomline and certain people should maybe try and be more realistic.
