Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has (so far) hit an all-time peak Steam CCU of 12,138 users

Some I know and some approximates:
Starfield 300k+
Stalker 2 100k+
Persona 3 Reloaded 45k
Gears 5 10k
Redfall 6k
Hellblade 2 5k

Here we go again with the pointless Steam CCU lol. You know this game is 'free' on Gamepass, right?

Using Steam CCU for a game that launches on Game Pass just doesn't work the way you all want it to.

The industry has moved on.
Please keep up fellas. Also add in Palworld.

It’s better than the last 2 Indiana Jones movies. It’s also a better than machines games last game. Kinda baffled by these numbers. Especially with positive critic and user reviews.

Thats why no one is buying it. Beceause the only ppl that has nostalgia for Indiana Jones are 40+ year olds that loved the original 3 movies. The new movies after that has been mediocre and no milenials or zoomers care about Indy.

Essentially, this. Indiana Jones has long faded from prominence. I'm one of the few who didn't mind Kingdom or the newest film, but it doesn't have the same appeal anymore.

Not in film and certainly not in gaming. I like Troy, but it would've *possibly* helped them in overall reception if they'd landed Ford to voice him, but he's old now. It'd take some work even so.

Haven't heard Troy in the game. Not sure how close he sounds.
Not close at all and worse Indy looks like some weird mishmash of Ford and Baker.

The new movies are worse than mediocre. But still why are young people not enjoying the original 3 movies? Same goes for Star Wars. Kids these days must be smart enough to rather watch the old indie movie rather than the 2 newer aweful ones.

The 2 movies are an incredible low bar and effectively killed any hope/momentum for the franchise. In fact even Star Wars bombing to oblivion has killed any excitement by any lucasfilm IP.

Critics reviews dosent mean jackshit anymore outside the weekly console fanboy thread supporting their game of choice.

User reviews are more important as are youtubers with more thurst... but then you comeback to problem n.1 ... nobody gives a shit about licasfilm's IP anymore. Disney is a cancer to legacy IPs.

Kids will watch old movies if their parents watch and recommend... the problem is Disney is actively killing the love for the brands... so I can se a scenario where a lot of old fans just arent giving a fuck anymore even to show their kids old loved movies.

Other day i was chatting with a girl, she was around 25 years old and she was telling me she like Dwayne Johson as an actor cuz she likes adventure movies. I asked her if she had watched any of the Indiana Jones movies, and she told me she never saw a movie with "her", yeah, she thought Indiana Jones was a female name. Thats how well knowns the IP is nowadays.

It is a tarnished franchise, but i feel launching along side a F2P juggernaut in Marvel Rivals, and a very PC centric juggernaut in POE2 didnt help. Plus its on Gamepass obviously.

For reference Silent Hill 2 remake had a peak of 23k with no Gamepass (i believe going from memory)

I think because of the games quality, and i guess good wom, it will probably have consistently decent sales going forward for a while. It is no.2 on the Global sellers.

Did people really expect any different?

Game looked mediocre from the start. Fans of Indy and MachineGames will probably like it, but it isn't enough for the general public.
It also shows why people shouldn't be so focused on review scores.

I've been saying that for a while now but PC gamers just dont like these kind of action adventure games.

Console manufacturers need to stop chasing these guys. They are not going to fuck you.

Probably

It’s why there’s hope for this on PlayStation. They better make an awesome port

But it isn't mediocre?
Whether it can draw a bigger audience based on solid word of mouth is now the big question.
12k on steam is fairly low, hopefully it was pretty big on gamepass because it would be a shame if more people don't get to experience it.

To the general public, it is. Otherwise CCU wouldn't be this low.

Indiana Jones does not have any cultural cachet whatsoever anymore. Sorry but it’s true. It’s not a big draw. There hasn’t been a big piece of Indy entertainment since like 1989. Nobody cares.

I’m glad the game turned out better than I thought it would but then MS put it on a service designed to kill sales, what do you expect? If they were smart they would rush out the PS5 port to get some actual sales, before the initial hype wave dies down.

A LOT of people still realise that paying for games gives the studios a better chance to create better games.

A lot of people don’t realise how damaging are subscription services in the gaming industry.
Nah, a lot of people have noticed how streaming services have destroyed the movie and TV industry

It's not hard to make the jump to the conclusion that having people subscribe for $10 a month isn't going to be paying off a $500 million game budget or whatever GTA6 will ultimately cost. They need to sell GTA6 if they ever want to recover that investment

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.

I think games going subscription is bad for sequel and they would expect the sequel to go for subscription as well

Barely anybody gives a shit about the IP, let's be honest.
I still for the life of me don't understand why this IP was greenlit for a game. If people like the IP, all power to ya and I'm happy the game seems like a great success off of early reviews and such. But man, I'm in my 30s and I don't know a single person my age or younger who gives a fuck about Indiana Jones in 2024. Out of all the great IPs out there, it just seems like a waste of time.

As for the OP, I really don't understand what this fascination is with steam concurrent players. Like every single game that releases, people make a thread about it. Odd behavior. Not only is the game on gamepass too, its also coming to PlayStation in a couple months. I really didn't except it to be that high to begin with.

It already surpassed the first Wolfenstein, and will likely surpass the second game this weekend.

Amazing job Machine Games! Another modern classic.

This game is on gamepass and still is doing similar numbers to Wolfenstein. This is clearly a successful story.

Stalker also free on gamepass and have 100k+ CCU. And it's sold something like million in 3 days? You can extrapolate IJ sales from here by yourself
I'm not saying the game is doing well. It honestly does not look that interesting, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's only doing average. But posting Steam CCU for a game that's out on multiple platforms/storefronts a week after release is not exactly 'good science'.

This game is insanely expensive on Steam where I am - about the equivalent of $80 - which is a lot more than that in reality. Just no attempt from Bethesda to set a reasonable regional price in other countries. Silent Hill 2 costs less than half what Indiana Jones does, for example. Combine that with it being available on Game Pass and you have a game that most of the world is going to avoid purchasing on Steam.

I hope Hulst and the Japanese CEO get this through their thick skulls. These games will never sell on PC and worse will curtail the sales of their own console. There was no point to releasing the Horizon games/R&C/UC games on PC. That audience is not worth wasting port dollars on.

Also, I hope the numbskulls at SQEX also realise that the audience for FF has mostly bought FFXVI and FFVII Rebirth. There is no point to the PC and (potential) Xbox ports. The Switch 2 port will probably sell a million, if they are lucky. The audience for action JRPGs (other than souls) is not big. All XC games on Switch sold 7 million lifetime. These games are lucky to reach 5 million lifetime sales.
