There were certain aspects that had quality irt Concord. In particular animations, graphics and performance. Iirc even DF stated so.
That's just objectivity.

Indy isn't doing that well either, which is the bottomline and certain people should maybe try and be more realistic.
Certainly when you talk about people being 'unhinged'.

DF can say whatever the fuck they like, it's clear they have an agenda and will be favorable towards certain types of games, hence they ignored hogwarts legacy for as long as possible but yet managed to do their best attempt at marketing Veilguard this year.

I'm playing Indiana Jones maxed out on PC and it's streets ahead of Concord in every aspect from a technical standpoint.

I can't believe this is actually a discussion.

It's an objective tech-analysis.

And at least animations in Indy are laughable, as is the combat.
Objectively on the level of last-gen.

Fun-factor is a different matter, but that's highly subjective.

Discuss stuff that matters.

Level design, puzzle quality, difficulty balancing, encounter design … etc

So many things that actually matter. Instead you seem to be fixated on animation quality. They don’t matter much unless game is purely focused on how they feel, like Naughty Dog game or RDR2.

I did, but people get all worked up over it.

I also said combat looks mediocre, environments look good, but sterile, stuff like flames looking last-gen.

Shame its not getting great numbers. I'd say a lot is due to really bad timing for release. POE 2 is doing massive rounds for early access.

Have a feeling will pick up though once streamers and people get bored of POE.

Concord being a massive flop doesn't mean Indy is a success in any way. And both don't gain much interest anong the general public.

Indy just is less worse, but that's a very low bar.
Who is claiming Indy is a success? Certainly not me, given that my entire argument is that it's rather sad that it isn't one.

I'm inclined to think Game Pass plus being able to pirate the game before 'release day' might factor in somewhat. !remindme in a month or two

I still for the life of me don't understand why this IP was greenlit for a game. If people like the IP, all power to ya and I'm happy the game seems like a great success off of early reviews and such. But man, I'm in my 30s and I don't know a single person my age or younger who gives a fuck about Indiana Jones in 2024. Out of all the great IPs out there, it just seems like a waste of time.

It was greenlit before Dial of Destiny bombed so the last real point of reference was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which was decently successful despite it not being a fan favourite. That was at least ten years earlier though, and in hindsight Crystal Skull also seemed to kill most interest people had in the franchise continuing. FWIW, I had no interest in Dial of Destiny despite growing up with and loving Raiders and Last Crusade (never liked Temple of Doom much).

Also, why the heck am I going to spend £60 to buy it on Steam when I can play it on Gamepass?

And that's what I was saying as well. I even said it before the weekend, but some people got mad over it.

So now I'm here discussing what I said earlier.

Although, my comment was more irt to the game probably selling 1-2M at best on PS5 in a few months. But these numbers on Steam can be seen as an indication of that.

There is ray tracing also which you seem to forget while talking about flames looking last gen. Also its 60 fps title that doesn’t look grainy.

Textures in game look good in that context.

Combat looks mediocre….

Dunno, every game I play, I adjust according to how its designed. This is a stealth game. Fist fights I do, maybe 5-6 times per level. And its fun if I do it in moderation. Punches land with great sound effect. And parry / evade are fun to pull off.

Sure taking on hoards of enemies would get tiring in this. But its on you if you are playing it like that.

Not to mention you are able to upgrade your abilities, get new abilities for fighting etc.

Try brute forcing your way through the boxing ring in the Vatican.

I'm sure spamming L2/R2 won't get you far, I got knocked out cold by the second boxer every time. Need to upgrade my HP.

I know, I said lighting looks good:
Not just facial animations. But animations are a key element to a game's quality.

Indy combat looks stiff as well and environments sterile, though lighting and art direction looks good.

Like I said earlier, this looks like a typical pc-to-console port you buy at some sale.

Perfectly fine. Nothing to argue about there or disagree with.
Just pointing out something I noticed.

Such an awesome and in depth game mechanic. Upgrading abilities so you can get stronger.

Not every game needs to reinvent the wheel

You need to find the upgrade books first, before you can obtain new abilities or upgrade them.
It's not as simple as just hitting LVL UP in a menu.

Maybe beef isnt the right word, obsession is more like it.

Who cares about what platforms its coming out on?
Also no obsession. How come people can't comprehend the concept of a forum?
Anyone can respond to any comment, so if multiple people respond, I can get into multiple discussions simultaneously.

And this subject is something that's related to an earlier discussion I was having.

Also, I'm not the one who makes a problem in relation to platforms.

The IP is weak nowadays and the latest movie was a bomba.
I fully expected low sales, since the game is good there is a chance the PS5 can save things a bit by leveraging on the Uncharted/Tomb Raider fanbase there's traditionally on PlayStation.

People celebrating this decidedly mid reception (in player numbers, not ratings) is kind of bewildering to me.
Who cares about the ideologies of a dev if they keep it out of their games? Are your brains that rotted by culture war, seriously?
This is an apparently actually good game, free of The Message(tm), that unfortunately sports an IP/setting that people just aren't excited about anymore (and haven't been for decades honestly).
It's not kept out of the game or free of the message but I agree with the overall sentiment about culture wars.

This is no shock (and why the hell people think the PS5 can somehow magically save the game is beyond me). The Indiana IP has been circling the toilet bowl for ages. Most people couldn't even be bothered to put 10/20 bucks down to watch the real Indiana in the cinema. Yet Microsoft expect people to spend 60 quid on this. Then couple it with the horrendous spec requirements, factor in the fact there are more cost effective games people can play.

I may have been tempted to buy this at 30 quid to see what all the fuss is about but honestly I am just not enough of an indiana jones fan to spend 60 quid on this.

Reminder that Microsoft execs testified under oath that they expected 10 million units sold for Playstation 5 alone for both this and Starfield:

Game looks great from a creative standpoint, but this is not a good start at all.

Good games sell when there's nothing else to play, it doesn't matter. Guys have mentioned Stalkers numbers cause it launched recently. Leave cod aside, Indy is probably sandwiched between Stalker 2 and Borderlands 4 the next year, %25 of these numbers will decide to buy a 3rd fps game which most likely is indy.

You can react to anything you want.

It just seems like you aren't interested in the game Besides shitting on it.

That is not a terrible result, but it's also not great. I doubt it will recoup it's development cost.
But in a way, it's not using a very strong franchise. People like me that grew up with Indy, have great memories. But it has been 25 years since we had a good movie in this franchise.
So now there are several generations of people that have no attachment to Indiana Jones.

Thats a problem right.. Indy never looked to me like a stealth movie to be a stealth game . Action adventure is more in line for the franchise like the Uncharted or Tomb Raider games.

Sure some stealth but mainly action should be the focus.. and third person ... the option to make FP is understandable given the studio but still dosent make the right choice for this game. Imho.

Good reminder.

But that logic, they would have expected it to sell, what, 20-25 million copies? 10 million on PlayStation, ~7-10 million on PC, ~3-5 million on Xbox.

Now the real question is: what exactly were they smoking? 🤔

System requirements surely are an important factor here. The devs abandoned many people with non-RTX cards (or even RTX ones with less than 8 gigs) while allowing the game to run on a slow hardware like Series S.

If you have Series S equivalent hardware then the game will "run" perfectly fine.

If you define it running at the same level as it does on that console as fine.

It's about time moved on from hardware that isn't capable of ray tracing, it's been long overdue IMO.
