13 months of silence. We can't even get damm screenshots of GTA VI. Where's trailer 2? its time.....this is starting to get ridiculous. why does Rockstar do this "silent" gimmick all the time, it gets a bit annoying
 
What's hilarious is GTA6 is already going to feel like a period piece by the time it comes out, things are changing fast and there's no way this game won't feel dated in it's reflection of America.

Because why would they take a chance of killing the buzz of the game before they're ready?
 
Not going to hold my breath if they tone down the parody poking fun of the batshit loonies and making it very one-sided in application.

It's developed by them in the height of their short-lived era of hubris and control, after all.

This may come as a surprise, but games/movies/etc. can be set during any given year (that isn't the current year IRL).

It's very clearly supposed to be set in present day, it parodies stuff like Tiktok, the trouble is, in the year+ since the first trailer a lot's changed and will keep on changing, a good chunk of this game's development and script writing would have happened under Biden's America and it's not Biden's America anymore.

Even V had that issue somewhat, some of it's Great Recession commentary already felt a little creaky by 2013.
 
This is why all the people asking for games to be shown 18 months - 2 years into development are out of their minds. What's the point in seeing a game that's almost 2 years out from release?

Agreed. Id rather have a reveal 6 months out or less from release.
 
I think Rockstar might have started that ridiculous $100 rumor just to make the $80 price tag seem like a great deal in comparison.
 
This is why like devs like Capcom and Monolith Soft show off their game when they are actually close finishing development and releasing it few month after it.

Thankfully I'm not all that excited for GTA6 so I dont care when they decide to drop the second trailer. I'm personally way more excited for MHWilds.
 
They easily could of made San Andreas stories to hold us over. Then bundle it as a trilogy with Vice City and Liberty City Stories. Outsource it to modders and it could be done in a year.

I can tell you Rockstar employees still believe the game will be launched this year, so no delay has been confirmed to the wider organization. But the truth is, who the hell knows.
 
I will never understand the obsession of so many with this series. One of the most overrated francizes in gaming. The only one I still truly enjoy is 4, since it has a decent story with Niko and I replay it once 3-4years and thats it.
 
The reality is that Rockstar doesn't have to do anything, GTA 6 will be the biggest entertainment product in history and will sell for the next 20 years, they don't even have to market it.

I feel this is a serious issue with gaming development in general, seeing as how games take 5 years to make on average nowadays. Especially if you try to chase trends. You could argue this is what caused the downfall of Concord; too long dev cycle. When they started out, DEI was rising. But by 2023 or so, most people are sick of DEI and gamers are sick of GaaS on top. And then there finally is your 5+ years project, coming out just when the public opinion had already turned against these believes and corporations silently backpedaled on the matter. This project was destroyed the moment it was unveiled because of it.

The PS2 GTA games (III, VC, SA) all feel fresher than the PS3 GTA games (4, 5) because they're not anchored to any actual timeline or too closely linked to actual places.
Going back through PS2 games GTA3 feels freshest of all because it's got the least connection to real life.

PC games taking 5 years now means at the next 'level' they'll be taking 10 years.
PS just needs to develop a new proprietary HW based platform with faster, cheaper game development.
If PS can get their esoteric HW-based platform going by the time PC game development is at the 10 year point they'll own gaming.

On the other hand most people think the story of RDR2 is their best work so maybe they focus on a more grounded and stick with you kind of narrative like RDR with some humor throughout?

I would be surprised if it was off the rails bat shit as gta5.

It was their best work, IMO. But sadly, the other Houser brother that was key to it, left not too long after.

Its just my guess but i think some1 smart at rockstar noticed woke games tend to flop hard and they cant allow gta6 to leave anything on the table, even 30% fewer sales in terms of juggernaut like gta6, lifetime, is bilions of usd lost.
TLDR: They removing most woke stuff from the game so gta6 has not only amazingly crazy initial sales(year 1) but it keeps on salling over next 10+ years on the market just like gta5. If game gets delayed to 2026 its basically confirmation they got additional dev load on them for this very reason :P
