PSSR has a notable performance overhead so I hope that if Ubisoft do add it to the PS5 Pro version of AC Shadows that it is an enable/disable toggle like their other PS5 Pro enhanced games.
 
Its fucking 1080p in Performance mode and no substantial improvements in Quality or Balanced and this guy wants us to be happy with the games Pro modes? No PSSR despite Ubisoft promising it in early marketing.

This is yet another disappointment on Pro!

Ps5 looks like ps3 vs ps5 pro in performance mode. This has to be the biggest gap ever in sub generation updates for console gaming..

This shit game looks amazing and performs amazingly well on the pro. I'm not gonna start console war stuff up in here like you, but damn, you are so wrong.

not if you compare PS5 balanced mode with PS5 Pro perfomance mode. which use the same settings and roughly the same resolution, and are therefore perfect comparison points.

suddenly the difference is minimal. as in 20fps performance increase on Pro, and that's it.

so same resolution + same settings and a 50% increase in perfomance (who knows how close the Balanced mode on base PS5 would be if unlocked)
that's not even remotely close to the "biggest gap ever" in mid gen upgrades, when we saw 500%~600% resolution jumps with better settings on top in some One X titles compared to base consoles last gen

Gears 5 One vs One X:
Dynamic 792p to 1080p vs Dynamic 1584p to 2160p
30fps vs 60fps

up to 4x resolution at twice the framerate... that's not comparable to a 20fps increase at the same settings I'd say.

The PS5 Pro is N% more powerful than the PS5. With this game they added a resource-intensive feature instead of just raising the resolution. It's interesting, but you can't have it all. If this is what the devs want to do with it that's their call.

If the difference between PS5 Pro and the base consoles is already large, if they add PSSR too, it would be even better.

I give credit to the few games that have lived up to expectations on Pro and complain about the ones that don't. You fanboy types are truly what's wrong with gaming ...not me.

This game is 1080p in Performance mode. Doesn't have PSSR that was promised (if it had pssr in Performance with rtgi I'd be happy with it). Not only that but Ubisoft didn't do enough to improve the Balanced and Quality modes over base PS5 ....and they had all the extra time in the world with the delay.

People like you are like those cops you see violating people's rights while thinking they're "the good guys". Because most of the population still thinks they are the good guys too they continue to get away with their bad behavior. I can always count on a few of your fellow gamers to gang up on me whenever I criticize anything now. You guys are basically thugs masquerading as having the moral highground over frickin videogame criticism.

It's been said several times now that we're moving beyond the stage of just simply counting pixels, and instead we need to focus more on final image quality and in that regard AC Shadows looks to be great on the PS5 Pro.

I don't understand the whining over the lack of PSSR either (apologies i don't want to sound rude), PSSR doesn't guarantee that the final image quality will be better than what it is currently, just take a look at Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.

It's likely that at the time of development, they saw that their current solution was providing better image quality than PSSR, or maybe that it was more efficient on the frame-time as we know PSSR isn't exactly cheap in that regard.

My hunch is that with the developers are happy with the latest update to PSSR and want to implement it into the game, but I suspect this will take some time.

PSSR doesn't just magically change the base internal resolution. It still would've been a 1080p image upscaled to 4K using PSSR.

No, you care too much! At first, I understood, because sometimes things don't quite deliver what we personally hoped they would. Now? Every thread on the Pro that you join becomes a meme about how you hate the thing because it "failed to live up you your expectations". Point is — we get it. We've heard it more than is necessary.

native pixel will be gone in the near future.

Priorities. Please have patience as this is a top tier studio led by elite management. They focused on removing destructible shrines and blood from locals. Let them cook.

I want in balanced mode:
-40fps in hideout too
-pssr

Or performance mode - Add hair, add pssr, unlock hideout fps.

Quality:
-PSSR, try for 40fps?

I will get the game after I finally start wilds lol. I am backlogged because I keep watching yt shorts and not playing. I want rise of ronin too which is probably a better game than both

this is a very confusing comment as it's not nitpicking anything (not sure if you know what that word means).
pointing out that it's insane to call a 20fps performance boost "biggest gap ever in sub generation updates" isn't a nitpick, it's a correction, because there were even PS4 to PS4 Pro jumps that were way more pronounced than this.

to ride that correct home I added the Gears 5 example where we see a combined up to 800% performance and resolution increase depending on the scene, while running slightly higher settings as well. which stands in stark contrast to the 50% framerate boost at the same settings and resolution of this Pro version.

and what does the Switch 2 have to do with anything here (screams console fanboy behaviour)
