The first quarter of 2025 has gone by. There are many games coming later in the year, but what has been your favorite game thus far?

Try to keep it to new games or remakes and not simply games you've gotten around to playing (although you can share that too).

I've only played three new games so far this year: Split Fiction, MH Wilds, and SE: Resistance. KCD2 is definitely something I plan to get later.

So far my vote goes to Split Fiction. Simply fantastic, even playing it twice through and switching characters.

That being said, I'm playing Death Stranding for the first time right now and it's even better.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
Star of Providence probably. But I also haven’t really played many new games this year. (And that one barely even counts, since it first released on PC in 2018)

Excellent game though.

Hadn't heard of this game, but it looks fun and has very high ratings on Steam.

They were all shit. I'm still playing Gotham Knights

Edit: just checked and man, I really haven't played a lot of 2025 titles. I'm holding firm on catching up with my backlog which is good.

Shadows is better than Avowed. Ninja Gaiden Black II is a nice trip down memory lane but nothing exciting. Atomfall is in the to be played pile as well

What time is it?
Like A Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii wins by default but I haven't played much of it.

Biggest disappointment is Monster Hunter Wilds.

Probably KDC2, but I haven't finished it yet.

Still need to start Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. One of my favorite franchises, but I have to be in the right mood for it.

Monster Hunter Wilds was the biggest disappointment in years, what a waste of time and resources. I'd love to see how all these terrible decisions were made

So far I am thorn between Wilds and Shadows.

AC Shadows for me has been amazing gameplay and graphics wise.

MH Wilds feels lacking in content, but other than that I love it

Also, both will only get better since they will keep getting updates.

But then in may there will be Nightreign, in june Death Stranding 2 and then eventually Ghost of Yotei, so I am not sure if either will be my goty.

Eternal Strands: One of the best action RPGs I've ever played. All the magic and abilities are so well done I couldn't believe it. Got the platinum. One of the most impressive debuts from a new studio I can remember. Will jump back in for the SQEX DLC.

Citizen Sleeper 2: Even better than the 1st one. Probably will remain my favorite story and writing this year. OST is phenomenal as well.

Avowed: Still playing, maybe getting close to half way. Will probably go down as one of my favorite WRPGs of all time. Combat is fantastic. Story is good, lore is even more in depth than Elder Scrolls at times. Terrain and level design is some of the best in the genre. I think people who give it a chance to really sink its claws in will be talking about this game for years as more people slowly discover it.

This thread is making me realize how crazy front loaded this year is gonna be, unless they suddenly start announcing a lot of games for the 2nd half.

Modded Skyrim with 2025 mods

If that doesn’t count than it’ll be Stellar Blade’s PC version.

Or it’ll be Skyobvion if it actually releases this year.

If those also doesn’t count than it’ll be GTA VI since there’s nothing really great so far. Perhaps Resident Evil but there might not be one this year.

I haven’t finished any of them yet, but I’m going with AC Shadows for now because it’s the one that I’ve enjoyed the most so far.

This years actually insane for games sneak peak of what's coming up and there are still games with unannounced release dates.

Doom the Dark Ages - May
Elden Ring NightReign - May
Lost Souls Aside - May
Death Stranding 2 - June

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Avowed for me.

If I had played Split Fiction, that might have been up there.

Avowed - mainly on the basis that it is the only game in that list I have played. Just so happens I also really enjoyed it, and it was a good game overall!

First Berserker. Best linear action game I have ever played. KCD2 is a close second. Really strong start to the year

I think Split Fiction for me so far, Xenoblade is up there too but I generally don’t give my GOTY to remasters unless it’s been a pretty bad year, don’t see that happening this year.

I think many devs are waiting for GTA 6 date announcement or delay lol. I don't blame them.

That's essentially what's happening I think, but if we hit July and GTA VI still isn't announced for 2025, then they gotta start making announcements for Q3/Q4, or shit is going to be a barren wasteland for the Holidays.

They saw the viewcount for that first trailer and it scared the fuck outta them.

Tie between MH Wilds and First Berzerker for me so far. AC Shadows is up there too but, dont think it quite hits the highs the other two have for me.
