A because From Software.

edit: I just learnt it's a multiplayer game, so I'd like to change my vote to an F, for Fuck that. :goog_relieved:

What other company will make you pay for a tech demo and has the balls to launch a paraplegic basketball game!? That's right, no one but Nintendo!

Somewhere between C and D, if it wasn't for the FROM surprise (which looks like a PS3 game, just saying) and strong DK finish it would have been a complete disaster, anyone voting A is completely delusional/fanboy of the highest order, let's keep it real.

I say C. Definitely some cool looking things, Switch 2 hardware looks neat, so do the exclusives, but way too many mid looking ports were shown. I would've much rather them showcase new material more.

SSS because of Bloodborne 2.

Things I liked:

Silksong 2025
Deltarune 1-4
Mario Kart World
GameCube VC with Zelda, F-Zero, and SoCal
GameCube controller
Elden Ring
Kirby's Air Riders
Switch Zelda Upgrades (wonder what the cost is)

Kind of ho-hum until Bloodborne 2 got announced.

This is a new console launch and their hardware is poor, their lineup looks quite bad. The only semi exciting game is a Mario Kart title

Paid virtual tours

Paid game chat

Paid upgrade packs that don't look upgraded

What an awful presentation for a new console they had plenty of time to cook for, and they didn't cook.

A mid looking donkey Kong game is their show ender???? Where the hell is 3D Mario?? My expectations were already low and they somehow managed to go lower

Very good. All they had to do was give me a new Mario Kart and upgraded versions of BotW and TotK and I'd have been happy. They gave a whole lot more, nice to see them being competitive in the AAA space, I can't imagine I will play any on the S2 though, it will be a Nintendo machine for me most likely.

"Here's a bunch of games you've already played on better hardware" then a few actual new things that look like Switch games.

The easiest "A" I've ever given. They knocked literally everything out of the park. Hardware, features, 1st party games, 3rd party games, backwards compatibility, enhancements (including enhanced GameCube games!), release date, you name it. No price is weird though.

Still, the best new hardware/new generation reveal in gaming history.
NO new games? What are you smoking?

I honestly think that anyone that was disappointed by this had expectations that were next level unrealistic.

they announced a new 3D DK game, showed MK9, announced an exclusive FromSoft game, showed Metroid Prime 4 running at 4k60fps and announced a 120fps performance mode, and basically confirmed that almost all big AAA multiplatform games will be able to run on the system. with Cyberpunk and Star Wars Outlaws being 2 very demanding games that are confirmed.

what exactly did you guys expect?

Phenomenal. GameCube was excellent. Did not expect a new donkey Kong.

Wish they showed off launch info but I guess they are waiting to see reception first

Mario Kart World, DK and the Fromsoft game, and all the other games that everyone has already played years ago. It's a bit meh, but I'll be getting one anyway.

Edit - Not at that price I won't hahaha

They killed it. it brings back memories of how console reveal should be. awesome hardware with awesome games coming on day one or soon after and even what is coming in 2026. unlike the shit reveal of PS5 and Xbox series consoles ( PS4 reveal was epic but sony has lost it )

amazing games. Donkey Kong in July, Mario Kart in june. Exclusive From Software game.. FHD 120 HDR screen with an ok size storage. ( i am gussing the 512 will come with an OLED for 100$ more at one point ).

why the fuck do i have a 5090 ?

anyway day fucking 1

Ports ports everywhere..bad framerate on every big game during the direct and no price. Guessing price is north of 500. So it's a C for me.

Great but minus 15 points for no price and no preorder. FFS I had all sites loaded. Need to get one secured for my oldest's bday.

No 3D Mario/10

I guess we get DK, but that's not the same. Overall I I guess I wanted even more first party content.

Also, the focus on party chat and that crappy camera was a waste of time.

New Mario Kart looks sick though!

Not announcing price is already enough to make this Direct a solid E, which is sad, and I honestly don't know what Nintendo is smoking... 😂

They sat on this hardware for the last couple years. Everyone has known the specs forever. What the hell have they actually been doing ? Where are the Nintendo games? New Mario? New Zelda? That's why everyone's disappointed.

A

I got exactly what I wanted and more.

People are acting like those 3 first party games are the only ones that are ever gonna release for the console.

Day 1 they already have a huge load.

We got ports of very popular games that people said would be impossible like Cyberpunk. We got brand new games not released yet coming.

This is the most third part support Nintendo has ever gotten. They've won a lot of people over and Neogafs echo chamber won't change that.

given that DK is launching only 2 months after the system. I bet there is way more they haven't shown yet.

all their first part stuff are games releasing very close to launch

Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bonanza, The Duskbloods, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders, etc.. etc..

Jim Carrey What GIF

Run yes but at what framerate, Elden ring and cyberpunkt isn't over 25fps :p

Very varied, but i went with a B. Yes, almost all grounds were covered, even including some surprises releases like Cyberpunk 2077.

But i also saw... Doom in a very tiny screen out there. Given the commit of Id Tech games on Switch, it could always be better.

Nevertheless, they made a presentation worthy of selling the system.

C+ It was aight

the gamecube for NSO was a long time coming, and the controller looks great too
The 3 new games for Switch 2 (DK Bonanza, Mario Kart World and Kirby Air Riders) all seem pretty fun, but not the big "system sellers" i was expecting

Third party was predictable, but the new additions to the old games was a nice one too. A bit disappointing you had to pay for them but i guess that's how it be

Overall I just expected a bit more

A. that was amazing.

Exclusive duskblood game from fromsoft that looks like Bloodborne 2. Game was gorgeous.

3D donkey kong

GameCube games

More games coming tomorrow during tree house.

I would rate this a B. We have Mario Kart, Donkey Kong in the launch window and bunch of last gen upgrades, plus 3rd party ports for 2025.

I was hoping for 3D Mario but it seems that isn't happening till next year at best. Also surprised there are no upgrade versions for any of the Xenoblade or Pokémon games.

Outside of the FromSoft reveal I'd call it a dud. I was expecting buying one for Metroid Prime 4 but the paid upgrades for switch titles stuff turned me off buying it for anything that isn't exclusive to the system. Makes sense why they're going so hard after emulation now (wouldn't be surprised to see them go after Dolphin too).

Add in the GameCube titles becoming locked behind a switch online sub (which is why we won't get ports of the HD versions of Wind Waker or Twilight Princess along with remasters of Metroid Prime 2&3 or Super Mario Galaxy 2) and it was just a big dud for anyone who isn't locked into Nintendo's ecosystem.

I'll definitely be getting one but not until From's game releases. If the Switch platform is where you mainly play I could see this being exciting but as someone who only buys Nintendo products for Nintendo games and otherwise plays on PC this was at best a big pile of meh. The "how can we extract more money from our customer base through subs and services" mindset affecting the console market is exhausting.

A for FromSoft, D for the rest.

Overall fantastic presentation and kudos to Nintendo for scoring that major From Soft exclusive. Even if it's just a timed exclusive, that's a major win!

My only real complaints:

1. They definitely needed to show more 1st party titles beyond Switch 2 edition games. Other than Mario kart and Donkey Kong, there wasn't much from Nintendo themselves.

2. No price or preorder info. I can see announcing preorders at a different time but pricing should have been revealed for sure.

Kind of shitty not to try explain more in detail what they mean by "Certain Backward Compatible Games". What works and what doesn't?

Knocked it out of the park only fanboys could rate this below and A. It deserves an S tier.

Since FROM game is a multiplayer-focused title I'll give it a solid C.

A lot of mlutiplat and too many time focused on outdated gimmicks like meme-worthy webcam.

Someone, show Discord to Nintendo.

There 100% is, I just wish they'd have shown more of it.

But I get that they're in a very comfy spot and have zero reason to reveal their hand.

new Zelda? are you fucking insane or something? Tears of the Kingdom isn't that old yet, and this is exactly what I meant... anyone expecting a new Zelda is simply delusional.

new mario, I mean, there's a new 3D Donkey Kong, something a lot of people wanted for literal decades. a new mario is basically confirmed by default, and with DK releasing extremely close to launch, there's a lot of space left in their first 12 months after launch to show and release a new mario game
