What I expected but I don't really see why I would by this thing. Just gonna save for the next Valve release if anything. This is Wii U all over again.

Kind of shitty not to try explain more in detail what they mean by "Certain Backward Compatible Games". What works and what doesn't?
its obviously mostly games that need special switch 1 only things like some of the cardbard stuff or licensing issues just like the playsation and xbox.

I thought it was funny that Elden Ring is the "Tarnished Edition". It sounds like okay here is the shitty version for the hold outs. LOL!!!

Between a B and a C, but I was feeling a bit generous so I voted B.

Definitely not enough new exciting games for me to give it an A. Mario Kart World we already knew about (although it being open world is pretty cool), Donkey Kong seems cool but I was hoping for a new 3D Mario. Odyssey will have been almost 8 years ago when this thing releases, so they've gotta have it pretty much done.

The upgraded Switch games are nice I guess, but I'm not that interested in playing any of those again. And this sadly confirmed that MP4 is 100% a Switch 1 game that just gets higher resolution on Switch 2. Was hoping for a much bigger upgrade.

The 3rd party ports generally looked blurry and bad, just like similar ports on the original Switch (but better obviously).

Overall I just think all of this felt very "Switch 1.5" rather than a true generational leap. But I'm still pretty excited and will be getting one.

If this thing hits at $400-$500 here in the States, no way. I love Mario Kart and Metroid, but not at that price point. I'll wait until a Xeno game at that point (and an OLED screen).

C.

The console features look good, something my kid will enjoy more than me. Some decent games like Mario Kart and DK.

Not a big fan of From games but happy for those that are. It was mostly ports/remasters of existing games and we'd absolutely trash Sony or Microsoft for the same presentation.

They should have called it Switch Pro. Still very outdated hardware. Not many new games. lol

new Zelda? are you fucking insane or something? Tears of the Kingdom isn't that old yet, and this is exactly what I meant... anyone expecting a new Zelda is simply delusional.

new mario, I mean, there's a new 3D Donkey Kong, something a lot of people wanted for literal decades. a new mario is basically confirmed by default, and with DK releasing extremely close to launch, there's a lot of space left in their first 12 months after launch to show and release a new mario game
Fine, valid point on the Zelda, but no Mario platformer at launch is ridiculous.

I honestly think that anyone that was disappointed by this had expectations that were next level unrealistic.

they announced a new 3D DK game, showed MK9, announced an exclusive FromSoft game, showed Metroid Prime 4 running at 4k60fps and announced a 120fps performance mode, and basically confirmed that almost all big AAA multiplatform games will be able to run on the system. with Cyberpunk and Star Wars Outlaws being 2 very demanding games that are confirmed.

what exactly did you guys expect?
3D Mario at Launch. Odyssey was quite a few years ago.

Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bonanza, The Duskbloods, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders, etc.. etc..

Jim Carrey What GIF
DK is in July....Duskbloods is 2026. Yawwwn for Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart. Kirby just sucks (unless you are 8)

The game line-up was an A. New major Zelda and Mario games will come in time, and the third party support was very good.

Bond, an exclusive From game, a new Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Air Riders, and a new Donkey Kong are all fantastic.

The hardware needs more 'gimmicks' though. It's just boring as it is, even down to the aesthetic design. Tbis needs to stand up for 5-8 years and I don't think it will well.

What other company will make you pay for a tech demo and has the balls to launch a paraplegic basketball game!? That's right, no one but Nintendo!

Somewhere between C and D, if it wasn't for the FROM surprise (which looks like a PS3 game, just saying) and strong DK finish it would have been a complete disaster, anyone voting A is completely delusional/fanboy of the highest order, let's keep it real.
that part was bs

How are so many people rating in an A?

Even if you're happy with it that was just not very good, be objective for once instead of being a fanboy.
Why wouldn't I be happy? There are a ton of exclusive games shown I want to play. Sorry it's not another horizon or days gone remaster.

yeah, but they have a 3D Donkey Kong in the launch window. a 3D Mario will probably come within the next 12 to 18 months I bet.

it's not like Nintendo has to clarify that they are working on a new Mario.
DK is nice but that isn't a system seller. And for me personally it's not a game I must have. Not that Nintendo will have issues selling Switch 2.

C. There were some great looking games in there with Kart, Duskbloods, DK, Air Ride, but there was too much filler in the middle. Ports are nice but they shouldn't be (what felt like) half of an hour long presentation. Between this and last week's Switch 1 Direct, Nintendo needs to reevaluate who's putting these presentations together. Also release date but no price, come on.

It was great for what it was - Nintendo console, and Nintendo games.

I am glad that Zelda: BOTW and TOTK will be on it at higher fps and resolution, since I only barely played them, and always wanted them to have a better performance.

But I really watched it expecting FF9 reveal rumors to be true.

Ppl giving an A to a product they don't even know how much it will cost...

I call this direct the... we have third party games again direct.

I give it a D... no Mario... no Zelda... they can delay it till they have a first party game worth the unknown price they will charge us for a switch 2.

I rate it whatever. Not interested in it at all, although I would've bought one for my gf if she wanted one.

Most important to me is the 1080 HDR 120fps screen. Makes me hopeful that Sony will release a Portal 'Pro' with similar screen.

No price or pre-order release info -- no word on price for 'upgrades' to existing games. A lot of ports. It's a C. I don't understand the 'best direct ever' comments here at all.

I'm not saying don't be happy, clearly, if you can read, I'm saying be objective, that was not an A by any stretch of the imagination.

Would have liked to see more of what Nintendo has coming over the next 12-18 months even a brief sizzle reel. Also Price and preorders ffs.

C from me, Marion Kart looked great.

Best I could give it was a D.
Very disappointing with Ninty nickle and diming the consumer for ever little bit of upgrade that should be free. Charging for a "game" that tells you all about the Switch 2 features is got to be the lowest of lows of any hardware company....ever.

Had some good stuff like MK World, Duskblood and new DK was the only reason it didn't score lower. Expected way more for a console launch, instead this was barely better than SoP.

A system reveal with exclusive games and tons of third party support. This reveal is a more compelling reason to buy the hardware than both the Series X and PS5 reveals. Not sure what was so bad about it?

I'd expect $19.99-$29.99, but I'd love to be wrong.

If Duskbloods is just a spin on Nightreign, I'll drop my grade to a C. I'm just hoping F-Zero and SoCal 2 can be played online.

These idiots spent 10 minutes hyping up voice chat. Nintendo is so far behind on the innovation/tech scale it's becoming laughable.

Mice look bad, the Teams meeting is nothing, there was no price, back compat is upgrades are $$$ for some "frame rate", and no mention of how tech that will enable performance in the long run.

If you want me to spend $450+ on your new console maybe spend more than 90% of the time talking about old games.

Nintendo hardcore fans never give critical feedback on the company.

That's one of the worst hardware showings they've ever done and yet it's apparently rainbows and unicorns

Though it was pretty meh aside from DK...and even that a like $80 is ehhhhh

There wasn't as much newer 3rd party stuff as I had hoped.

B for Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong, and knowing it's 4k-capable. Would've been A if they had shown a new Zelda or Monolith game.

The pacing and actual presentation were awful but the content was good.

A step up in third party support (though would like to see more) a strong first party lineup for the first 7 months.

So I'd give it a C.
