Didn't think Nintendo would be the first to jump another $10 for games, and $90 for physical is nuts.

They'll only be able to get away with it for their absolute biggest games, the rest will have to be lower if they're going to expect high sales.

Not to mention the console is $450, and $500 if you get the bundle with Mario Kart World.

Listen...this means I'll be buying way, waaaaay less games from Nintendo during Switch 2's generation.

I'll likely buy used for a lot of them, but I'll be more selective on what I buy an Switch 2 will just be for those main exclusives from IP I like from them like Animal Crossing, Xenoblade and Luigi's Mansion (if we even get a 4th)

I'm guessing USD paying $79 while CAD we paying $89.

True, maybe it will be that way, but that is still a lot for what I see here. I have nothing against their games, but a lot of what was shown simply doesn't look like its really worth that price.

I will not buy these $90 games or any console that releases $90 games that look like they were made for the wii u.

They do not cost as much as AAA games do. They should not cost $70. Let alone $90.

I dont let my kids play F2P scam games like Fortnite. It's a matter of principle now. I will not teach them that its ok to buy $90 games. Time to move on.

Been paying 8000 yen for some Switch games for years now. I think since Xenoblade 2. Entertainment that isn't on a subscription package or years old and massively discounted is quite expensive.

I'm curious about how much the switch 2 "upgrades" are going to cost, don't see them being less than $20.

P.S: Fuck this pricing.
especially since they're giving at least some of them free to Expansion Pass subs

which does that mean you lose access to the upgrade if you let your sub lapse?

Greedy Nintendo at their best.

Selling outdated hardware with a high profit and now the Software is totally overpriced.

Thats naughty.

My opinion is I was looking to buy my first Mario Kart since N64. I'm not buying it now. Not on release anyway. Maybe on Black Friday if it's heavily discounted.

There are very very few games I'd spend $80 for. And even those games I'd get the collector's edition version anyway.
My dude, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released in 2017, and I think the cheapest I've ever seen it was $49.99 ($20 off MSRP). No way this is getting "heavily discounted" by Black Friday or even by Black Friday 2030.

Way too much. The games never go on sale. Nintendo and other Japanese devs (excluding Sega) never permanently lower the price of their games and sometimes the sales are never that great.

Just think about all those men in business suites you're helping support with their million dollar mansions and fancy car collections.

I definitely won't be buying a Switch 2. It's not about the price because I can easily afford it, it's about principle. Nintendo thinks they can charge $90-80 for last gen looking games, they can GTFO.

Rotten greedy shit. Charging $80 for that, plus online, is a real piss take. No doubt it will sadly still sell at that price, and they'll feel vindicated about it.

A while ago too, in a lot of countries, they stopped letting third parties sell game codes and even top-up cards, so you are locked to their store for digital purchases.

Doom and gloom is written All over their console
80$ games plus many thing are behind pay walls , even the console demonstration mini game they want you to pay for it
They can fuck off

It's good.
Games were 60$ for.... decades?
Everything else got 2-4x more expensive.

If 80$ price means high quality single player game with no mtx and gaas? good

Yeah, it sucks that they will be so expensive. But we are all just going to piss and moan and still buy the games. I think we all have to get used to the fact that everything is going to be outrageously pricey in the future.

But PS5 and XSX games in the US are $69 not $80 and Nintendo wants to go to $80
This could be a one off thing, though, as Donkey Kong is being sold at regular game prices. Kinda like the Zelda games on Switch are 10 bucks more expensive than any other Nintendo game.

This price could also be designed to push people towards the Switch 2 MK World Bundle... where the game is then only 50 bucks (or just 40€).

Nintendo is on drugs. No way in hell would pay $80 or $90. Hell i don´t even pay $70 for a PS5 game anymore. Must be a GOTY material or a game that a love a lot like KCD2 which i brought the gold edition.

I never said it would, That's why I said maybe. $50 is my price point for Mario Kart. If it doesn't get there, then I simply won't buy it.

The Switch 2 has PS4-level hardware.
Regardless. Besides, since people always say Nintendo has high quality games, imo, they deserve to have that reflected in the prices of their games.

It's business, not charity.

I'm not familiar with US prices. In EU, PS5 games pricing is €79.99, afaik.

So every port such as Elden Ring which looks worse with a choppy framerate will cost more….Wow, ngl Switch 2 is looking like dogshit

Nintendo is out of their fucking minds...

Great way to ruin their momentum built by the original Switch..

Are they going crazy? Yes. Will it really hurt their exclusive games? Not really. Nintendo has the base on lock. They'll spend the money.

They saw the prices of their games in the Retro world and they said "Nah I'd win"

A lot of people will not be able to buy a S2 and it's games with these prices. I'm not sure this is a smart move.

Diehards will cave in obviously, but the rest?

Maybe it just me but I don't judge game's price worth based on graphics I judge the games worth based on actual game itself.

Game can have the most expensive graphics but if I'm not enjoying the game itself then it's not worth price regardless of how high tech the graphics are.
