It's too confusing what the game's goal and scope are. Can you only play inside the city, or can you explore the whole of Kalos?

Pokemon stadium 1 and 2 had better battle animations then what this game currently has. That's how bad this game looks graphically. Like man does this look cheap.

Not even NS2 can save this shit.
Because it's graphic shortcoming in Pokémon games has nothing to do with Switch system…..Xenoblade X DE just recently released has MUCH bigger scale while stilling better all Pokémon games combined.

It's all up to devs themselves and in this case Monolith Soft much better at it than GameFreak.

I not talking about graphics BTW.

There is neither graphics or art direction in this shit, but maybe better frame rate with the NS2. We know the drill.

It seems like the combat is cooldown based, not turn based. Is this new?

I've never played a Pokémon but I thought they were turn based games.

They still are in the mainline games. but this is a 'Legends' spin-off title.

'Legends' are where Game Freak can try out new game design ideas. For example, the last POS Legends game was the first open world Pokemon game where you can run around and catch Pokemon in real time. And that was about it. Everything else about it was trash.

However, this game looks a look better than the last one. They actually have NPCs that move this time!

Switch 1 vs Switch 2 comparison:

Imma be honest outside of 30fps vs 60fps I couldn't see a difference. I would not be surprised at all if this was a bare bones switch 2 edition like BoTW/ToTK seem to be. Assuming effort from gamefreak is folly. That said, it is, visually, the most impressive looking mainline Pokémon game so far. Close inspection reveals the secret. Like all of the buildings being almost completely flat squares with decent texturing.

I wonder if large, view obstructing buildings allows them to aggressively object cull out of view elements. So they can essentially save a ton on rendering budget because you're only able to see something of a corridor when you're down on the streets.

Eager to see more, either way.

I mean it looks better, I guess.. But really goes to show that the 'problem' isn't really resolution or framerate.

Most, if not all buildings, are straight up big blocks with texture glue to them. Includes windows and doors, those have no details and feels like just papers on a wall. And people once though removing models from the game would open more space for anything else.

The more time passes the more is clear that GF were never actual good developers. If it weren't for Pokemon they would cease to exist, and it would be more than deserved. They bring nothing to gaming industry.

Yeah, it's all so.. Lifeless and plain.

The environments in this game are, almost without exaggeration, N64 quality. Or maybe like a really poor GameCube game.

GF are just lazy. They do the bare minimum because they know people will buy anything with Pokémon slapped on it.

Every Pokémon game they've released on the Switch has been trash, but could have been so much better with longer development time.

I really want Nintendo to take over or at least give GF assistance when it comes to development.

Switch 1 vs Switch 2 comparison:

Yeah looks just as bad on Switch 2 (although with smoother framerate) because the art direction is ugly and the visuals are insanely basic.
Running the game in 8K 400fps won't change stuff like even the balconies on the buildings being a flat 2D texture

No amount of "power" gonna make Pokémon look good because it up to devs.

You just look at what Monolith Soft able to achieve on underpowered systems like Wii, WiiU and Switch.

Game looks much cleaner and smoother on the switch 2.
Was waiting to play scarlet on switch 2. Will inevitably get this one too.
