To be fair. Ninja Gaiden II Black came out of nowhere as well.I can't imagine it being a massive FFVII/RE2-level remake if they just shadow drop it.
Yep, same principle as with Hi-Fi Rush (amazing game btw).Like releasing?
It's been called a remake (and not a remaster) since the start of the rumor in 2023 and it was included in Bethesda's list of undisclosed projects so IDK, it's supposedly made in UE5 with reworked combat too. But I agree it's very strange that something THIS big has been kept secret.I can't imagine it being a massive FFVII/RE2-level remake if they just shadow drop it.
Yeah I would have definitely preferred Morrowind, that game has so much potential with a remake (assuming they don't ruin the lore, characters and systems).Yes, it should be Morrowind, but it realistically cannot be. Oblivion is relatively easy to remake compared to Morrowind without gutting it almost completely - Morrowind is a text driven game with a massive amount of it. Considering they wouldn't release a game like that in "this day and age", we are left with the result of Oblivion, which was already voiced and therefore can be more readily done in a way that more accurately represents the original product. At least, I wouldn't likely want whatever they think a "Morrowind remake" would look like. I'm not sure I want whatever they think an "Oblivion remake" will look like - with the exception of Skyblivion - that I do want.
But let's see what we see.
Absolutely, but that would be my primary concern.Yeah I would have definitely preferred Morrowind, that game has so much potential with a remake (assuming they don't ruin the lore, characters and systems).
And this is exactly why I believe they made this choice.Oblivion, to me, just needs an HD remaster with upgraded textures, the return of the object shadows from the earlier pre-release versions, and a complete re-balancing of the progression system. Everything else in the game is adequate enough.
If this is just shadowdropping - i wonder how much work actually went into it. I hope it's great
Either it's very good and Microsoft are ashamed that a third party studio and non-Bethesda engine can pull it off, or it's very bad and more broken than even Bethesda could ever dream of achieving.Elder Scrolls is a very popular series. Seems strange to shadow drop if it is indeed more of a remake than remaster. It would probably get significant preorders as well.
It will probably be on everybplatform, you need to stop taking your problems out on Xbox. Xbox is innocent. The Shadow Drop is to create FOMO to Playstation Users, it's the only Console war thing Xbox does these days.
IRTBOP.The Shadow Drop is to create FOMO to Playstation Users, it's the only Console war thing Xbox does these days.
This.Who's actually developing this? I have a hard time believing it'll be a full remake and simply shadowdropped.
This.
Would've bought it day 1, but now I want to see some gameplay first to see if it really is a proper remake.
I would've bought it because I loved Oblivion back in the day.You would've bought a Bethesda game sight-unseen in this day and age?
Bethesda did jack squat for skyrim but they're gonna upgrade oblivion for sure.
Bethesda aren't the ones developing this, going by the rumors.
It's Virtuous Games, the same studio also working on MGS Delta.
I was thinking 2 high profile remakes released within 6 months seems like a heavy workload. Then I looked it up and saw they had 4200 employees.
It's on gamepass so prob not enough. If this is just shadowdropping - i wonder how much work actually went into it. I hope it's great
That and this isn't a recent project. Reportedly this has been in development since 2020, 2021 or so, and per that big Bethesda leak that happened around the FTC trials, initially it was penned to release by the end of Fiscal 2022 (Calendar 2023 maybe? ), so it's already delayed internally. That leak also said TES VI was scheduled for Fiscal '24 and we know that shit ain't happening![]()
