ARC RAIDERS New Beta Gameplay Demo

You should be able to revive downed opponents, not just your squad. This would help in team-ups, extractions, and fighting larger ARCs.
I feel like I've seen numerous videos of people reviving knocked opponents.

I've also seen numerous comments that you can't do it.

What am I missing?

Nah you can't unless you have defib couple of times now people have tried to revive me and they can't normally.
OK, so they might just want to make it a rare occurrence right now.

Do you know how close you have to be to talk to enemy players?

I really wanted to try this but never managed to get in. Even if I was granted access, it's not worth it now as it ends tomorrow anyway. Oh well, that was their chance to sell their game to me, as I tend not to buy unproven new multiplayer IPs in this era of never ending new f2p releases. Especially not extraction/BR ones🤷🏻‍♂️

My friend is trying to get my friend invite working, but he was sent to a questionaire when he clicked on get your game keys?

Is that correct? If I log in with my PS account on the friend invite, will I get a key I can give to him so he can redeem it on the PS store?

Or does he have to fill out the questionaire etc

The left part of my body just died of cringe from reading this post. Send me your information so I can sue you.

He has to fill out the questionnaire

Surprised this is so well liked around thses parts considering the push back against extraction shooters in general.

We all know why. Lol
Ive not played the other one but the PVP is this has alot of problems. However it does have a lot going for it in other areas.

I've only been able to play drunk for the most part this time round but should get some proper time in tomorrow before it ends to formulate a proper opinion.

What are the others?
Other extraction Shooters?

This, Marathon and Hunger are incoming.

The Hunt, Delta Force and Tarkov are the established ones.

Only this seems to have a semi positive buzz around it, despite not really doing anything different.

I don't remember any push back against Hunt, Delta Force and Tarkov.

Uhm. What is the deal actually with the servers? Are they persistent?
Because sometimes when I just spawned, everything around there is looted. And the queue times are so damn quick (which is INCREDIBLE, fuck you Tarkov), so I imagine you just spawn in an already live environment? Which means, you will always keep encountering players.

They still have some fixes to go through before launch, because I often get stuck in loading screens or when a raid ends it just crashes (PS5).

Great game so far, the tension is real, but people start to get better at it and get better gear and now I just die a lot :)

I think the server shuts down after 30 min, but you can join a live one so there could be always players around

Funny looking back through this thread now.

Yeah they need to have some sort of matchmaking related to gear, because atm with a basic loadout you need to avoid any sort of combat full stop.

Does it take a while for you to find matches? I'm waiting 1 min 27s as of this writing. 2min 55s, I think something broke on my end or theirs

one thing I found annoying on controller at least, is the aim assist. it feels extremely bad and unintuitive. it goes from zero slowdown to insane slowdown in an instant. so it's way too strong and lacks a certain gradualness.

I thought about turning it off, but then I fear I'd have a competitive disadvantage... they really have to fix this for the full release

I see you complain about this all the time.

Genuine question, in your opinion what games do get it right?

I'm completely broke atm. :{

Maybe they can check how fucking poor you are and put you in a server with just a few other raiders, instead of the usual 729 raiders that try to kill me. Just so you can get back on your feet.

Still love the game, but it's been kicking my ass hard this evening :)

Is there something like a sponsored kit or scav run in this game? Couldn't find it.

EDIT: nvm, I did find it. You can have a 'free loadout', nice.

I used to have lengthy conversations with Guilty_AI Guilty_AI about multi-player transitioning out of its session based, sports style (Overwatch, Halo) era, into its long form progression, heroes journey (Rust, Escape from Tarkov) era.

I've always seen the heroes journey style multiplayer taking over because it appeals to more people, including more single player oriented gamers.

I think ARC Raiders is the first real salvo in the above theory. NeoGAF has a number of SP oriented gamers who will dable in MP from time to time. ARC seems to be doing well with that group.

??? I never complained about the feel of aim assist in any game... I said Destiny 2 and Halo Infinite have essentially auto aim, but that's not about the feel of it, but the extreme over reliance on it by the Devs to mask the awful stick aiming they refuse to fix.

this is the first time I ever talked about how aim assist feels bad to play. which is different. the aim assist on Arc Raiders feels abrupt and unintuitive. you feel zero slow down, then suddenly extreme slowdown on your aim. usually there is a way more subtle gradient to it when properly done.

but if you wanna know which games I think do aim assist correctly in general, I'd say Apex Legends, Fortnite and xDefiant are the best both in feel and strength. with Halo Infinite and Destiny 2 being good in feel but essentially autoaim and therefore made for uber casuals, CoD feels ok and is way too strong but at least not fully autoaim... and the worst is probably The Finals, which has fucking aim snapping and auto following for a short time, while also not feeling good either.

My apologies i misunderstood this post:
not like Bungie does it. the reason there was mouse magnetism in the first place is because their controller aim assist is basically auto aim.

Bungie's aim assist is the most over the top aim assist on the market. Halo Infinite's being a close second.

to put that into perspective:
Call of Duty players regularly complain about the strong aim assist in CoD. that is because CoD's aim assist is multiple times stronger than Apex Legends'.
Controller players still dominate the Apex Legends pro league in spite of that.

ok, AND NOW imagine if you made CoD's aim assist even stronger, and added an invisible circle around the reticle, within which the bullets bend their trajectory to automatically hit the enemy if he is inside that circle... that's Bungie's aim assist* (*in Destiny 2, which is presumably similar in Marathon as well)

You are constantly able to use a free loadout, which is awesome

I havent been using my own loadout very much

Its tarkov scav runs all over again 😂

And with the combination of tlou gameplay and extraction, im digging it so far.

So after awhile, vs a Battle Royale. The win condition is hazy, unlike in a BR where a win is a win, or placement. Here it is just about a shiny collection. Therefore I'm not certain on the longevity for myself, never have been a loot caring gamer….

What am I missing?

You nailed perfect what I feel about this game and I'm a sp oriented gamer.
