Free Roam will be criticized and lack of tracks as well. Game misses some soul 8 had. It's an uneven and incomplete experience.

Low 8, high 7.

I voted 80-84 in the poll thread. I think it comes down to how the open world aspect is implemented. MK games have always been fun, but I think this one might be judged heavily by the new features.

If they nailed it and recive universal acclaim, I'll be happy to eat crow.
 
All outlets who published a review of the game prior to at least Saturday should be publicly blacklisted and called out for poor review standards. Putting clicks above their journalist integrity.

No outlet received Switch 2 units or the game until sometime on Wednesday 6/4. You cannot possibly have a decent comprehensive review ready in less than 24 hours. The point of reviews is not to see how fast you can shit one out.

Super cringe and scummy.

Double Dash is legendary and one of the best and it was a 7.9 from IGN.

Mario Kart games are not historically known for insanely high review scores. It's a kart racer.

People have built it up into their heads as this giant thing and it's just a kart racer. Nintendo probably should've launched with something single-player but likely didn't have anything ready that could sell systems. Oh well.

One could argue that arbitrarily assigning a numerical score to a videogame is in hindsight a pretty silly thing to do… but that's a discussion for a different time. If you're giving Kart World a low 8 after just five hours, it's clearly a very good game. Which, of course it is. Nintendo polish. They've been working on it for years, waiting for the right moment.

I was actually expecting a little higher but the score is still pretty much within the realm of expectation. Nintendo seal of quality

No, it's worse than that. They deliberately shit out reviews at warp speed to "beat the competition", because they made the miscalculation that being first is better than being on time. Completely forgetting the entire point of a review, in the process. They thought only of site traffic and money.

Completely repugnant.

It's a kart racer. Mario Kart games are not historically known for insanely high review scores. People are just putting it on a pedestal because it's the big shiny launch title.
 
It's pretty hard to top MK8 in its complete form. Not that it really matters, but Nintendo could've tried launching the S2 with another big hitter instead of MKW as it looks like an unfinished game if compared to MK8 Deluxe.

I'm still early on, obviously, but I'd put the 32 tracks in World above the 32 tracks that MK8 launched with. I'm still working my way through the 100cc cups so my opinion could change with 150cc. Those two DLC waves really elevated MK8 into something special. And some of the connecting segments in World's open world map are pretty neat like the Golden Gate themed massive bridge. I do miss Kart customization. I dislike the font choice and text color/theming. I'm impressed by the sound design and really like the music. I haven't messed around in free roam or multiplayer yet, but I wouldn't say it is lacking content and it sure to get more with both free and paid updates.
 
They should have made the game better by having a campaign with boss battles like other Mario spin off games. It wouldn't hurt to add online kart sharing like ModNation racers. Etc.

I think this MK is really lazy, especially considering how long it's been and it being the main launch game. Hell they even took some customization away.
 
Whatever the score, MK8D is the most game that played in my lot of people in my workplace. We are playing MK8D very often, and once we got our NSW2 and MKW, i am sure the craziness will continue.

not crying, i love Nintendo games and by loving Nintendo games i know how much fanboyism can affect ppl perception, now i can say the same about you that is shilling for Nintendo on every thread.

Also i dont like Nintendo as a company, they are way too greed and full of themselvs and its because shills like you that they rised the price of their games ( even if their games has the lowest development cost of the three ), all cause shills like you ll deffend Nintendo at all cost.

Agree. My only gripe about MK8 is that the soundtrack wasn't a hit imo, some were very meh.
This one has a legit soundtrack and looks pretty damn fun to play. Doubt the score will influence negativelly this.

Price still bothers me.

Long-time Nintendo fan but I feel that the new president post-Iwata has gradually shown himself to be a poor leader and more profit minded than brand-minded. One of their core strengths was the family market, and they'll lose that if they give into this high pricetag nonsense.

I also miss true portable Nintendo systems that had tons of brilliant games with lower prices. There was a huge advantage to their portable consoles not trying at all to be devices in the tablet or steamdeck range, but just fun family devices with medium power and clever games with reasonable prices.

I personally having a blast with this game courses are super fun and new moves-et like wall jumping is great.

I'm even enjoying free roam.
