It's possible but I'm waiting for official confirmation. Surely Mat Pascal can give us a nugget here. The stock levels must have been crazy high.
You got a zip code I can check?
I'm in the DMV area and it's sold out everywhere except Stafford where they have one unit.I tried 36116 but nothing there. That's where I grew up.

Launch day isn't so surprising. But somehow, I feel that Nintendo will need a first year like the Switch 1 in terms of releases (that was really massive) to keep the momentum. DK next month is a great start, and if they have a Mario or an animal crossing before the end of the year, then the console will be unstoppable.
But the novelty of the hybrid concept isn't here anymore, so I think that they really need some strong first party support over the next 12 months if they want to repeat the switch success.
Third party will probably be a big factor too, as mostly anything can run on the console.
For this year alone (Six months) A New Mario Kart game, A New Donkey Kong, A new Metroid Prime, A New Kirby and a New Pokemon game, that's almost a new exclusive game every month… Its going to be massive.Launch day isn't so surprising. Exactly how I picture Nintendo fans
My guess is most retailers got 10-20 units in addition to their preorder inventory/Looks like they do have a few in the B'Ham area.

I mean no? Not really? Both are pathetic.I mean, they're still better than this :

I still feel like they should have held launch until more was ready. MKW and ports/patches for 3+ year old games really isn't a super hype Day 1.For this year alone (Six months) A New Mario Kart game, A New Donkey Kong, A new Metroid Prime, A New Kirby and a New Pokemon game, that's almost a new exclusive game every month… Its going to be massive.

Sure, I find both weirdI mean, there's just that something that feels off when it comes to the X cult in that...it really gives that cult-ish, shill-ish and completely obnoxious vibe...
I hate Nintendo for all their shitty practices but, at the very least, they've been cultivating this type of fandom and culture for decades by having good /stellar games, MS/Xbox though ? It just feels like an infinite PR spin based on (literal) hardcore shills, it's pretty strange that they've always been the new kid on the block (and always being last) and yet, their fanbase has always been the most vocal and aggressive one if you think about it.
Spreading one game per month is a better strategy to maintain the momentum. Worked for the Switch 1. Also Mario Kart is their biggest game by a big margin.I still feel like they should have held launch until more was ready. MKW and ports/patches for 3+ year old games really isn't a super hype Day 1.
- DK should've been ready for Day 1
- Upgrades for Kirby and Mario Party should've been ready Day 1
- Metroid should've been ready for Day 1
- No upgrade for Smash?
I mean my small rural GameStop had 70 switch 2s. It only had 20 switches at launch.8-10 per store.
Agent Smith -- "It's the SMELL. If there is such a thing ..."Good for Nintendo that they're moving units on launch day. Hope everyone are enjoying their new purchases.
But with that said...even if I were a ultra-mega lifelong Mario/Sonic fan I'd rather eat glass then suffer through queues like that.

There's literally no way of knowing this without knowing shipment numbers. We do know Switch 2 was in mass production for much longer than Switch 1 before launch.I mean I'm sure Nintendo produced a lot of these... and sold a lot yesterday....but the fact that there is even stock available is.... interesting.
Seems like a demand ceiling was hit on the first day. So demand is lower than whatever it was for PS5...possibly quite a bit.

DooooooooooomedThe fact that there is even stock available is noteworthy imo.
Again the problem with trying to extrapolate launch sales to overall success is that launch sales get skewed by the core fanbase and doesn't necessarily tell you about more mainstream consumers.
Even if Nintendo has sold 5M(which would be very good) they could hit a wall soon after imo.

Has become "Of course it's not sold out, it's trash"
is this satireThere is no real hype for the Switch 2 online. Nintendo's marketing has been ass. But the straw that broke the camel's back was Nintendo's game software price increase to 90 dollars as well as the huge price increase for peripherals like extra SW2 Pro Controllers and such (90 dollars as well).
Ain't nobody gonna buy a gaming console with software and hardware prices that high in this dire financial climate climate we're in now. I already smell a Wii U situation. I think Nintendo fucked up (again).

The only store I can even see stock in (as in see if they have it versus it just saying in store only) is Target and there isn't a store within the 50 mile range of me with stock of either console.I'm curious if stores around me are sold out at this point. I know they had plenty of stand alone models left yesterday but people were coming in and buying them.
The Series S should be setting the world on fire with its low price and ability to rent first party games then, right?Ain't nobody gonna buy a gaming console with software and hardware prices that high in this dire financial climate climate we're in now. We had 70 (originally 57, but we got a couple boxes last second), 45~ went straight to the preorders, we sold out of the remaining 25 before 2pm
It was nuts.

Gigabowser right before he hits post.
A New Kirby
They are easily going to break records.
Hypothetically, if they were able to put out 10 Million units and sold through 8 Million in 24hrs, leaving 2 Million sitting on shelves the next day...that's not exactly a picture of "low demand".
It's all relative to how many they had available and it sounds like they had the biggest launch supply in years, if not "ever".
Is a new game. Not remake or remaster.***I wrote all this bullshit and forgot about Air Riders. Hell yeah that's a day 1 as well. Disregard my ramblings below but I'm leaving it.
Does that really count? Unless I'm mistaken, Kirby is just the Switch 1 version with some added stuff? Similar to 3D World with the bowsers fury addon. I didn't consider 3D world a whole new entry for Switch.
But yeah, I'm 100% buying Kirby. One of the few Switch games I didn't purchase (because it was 30fps). So I'm glad to be getting a better version with added content.
Is they sell all the available stock in the first month is going to be a nightmare to find a Switch 2. They have months stockpiling for launch date. You think they put out 10M? So 75% of what they expect in the entire first year....available for launch day? That means they would anticipate anemic holiday sales...which doesn't make sense.
My guess is that they produced more like 5M. Which is still impressive for an initial wave.
Why are you lying, i just came from Mediamarkt to pick up cyberpunk, they had 2 whole units in a bundle with accessoires, toychamp and other toystores are sold out.Jesus christ.
Well not in The Netherlands, plenty of stock everywhere
That's how cultural phenomenons works, same happens with the phones, expensive sneakers and clothes, cars etc etc. And that's the goal of a good marketing campaign. As pathetic as these queues are, equally pathetic are all your friends/and acquaintances who pre-ordered one and now have to show it on their social media like they just won an achievement in living.
These are photos from yesterday. Why are you lying, i just came from Mediamarkt to pick up cyberpunk, they had 2 whole units in a bundle with accessoires, toychamp and other toystores are sold out.
Bol.com is out of stock, nedgame doesn't have units so where do you see plenty of stock?
Nintendo isn't giving a bunch of games day one anymore, they're spreading then through it the year, that worked great with Switch 1 so I think they rather make us wait a little in order to have a full cadence of content. Don't hurry, just go play something else somewhere else. I personally will be playing some PC games meanwhile, I bought the console for the Switch 1 upgrades and to be ready for whenever there release something new I care about, so far it's only Metroid and Kirby.I still feel like they should have held launch until more was ready. MKW and ports/patches for 3+ year old games really isn't a super hype Day 1.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo produced more than 4.5 million Switch 2 (PS5 launch) for its launch.I mean I'm sure Nintendo produced a lot of these... and sold a lot yesterday....but the fact that there is even stock available is.... interesting.

Imagine Nintendo launching all the games day 1… For the next 6 months you are going to have the gaming media and fanboys saying that the Switch 2 doesn't have games. Nintendo opted for the better strategy, like the Switch 1… And i think this is more packed when it comes to first party exclusives.Nintendo isn't giving a bunch of games day one anymore, they're spreading then through it the year, that worked great with Switch 1 so I think they rather make us wait a little in order to have a full cadence of content. I get what you are saying. Nintendo has consistently put out amazing products with maybe a few missteps (fuck you (though not you in particular) I liked the WiiU) so it's understandable that they have "super fans" even if it's cringe but Xbox doesn't really have that history.I mean, there's just that something that feels off when it comes to the X cult in that...it really gives that cult-ish, shill-ish and completely obnoxious vibe...

This isn't exactly new for Nintendo though. The N64 launched with 3 games total in Japan and really only had I think 7 in the States with I think 2 being 1st party. GameCube had 2 first party titles as well and if I remember correctly only had 3 games total again in Japan at launch. Switch launched with 3 1st party titles but it really just came down to BOTW as who gives the fuck about 1-2 Switch and Snipperclips.I still feel like they should have held launch until more was ready. MKW and ports/patches for 3+ year old games really isn't a super hype Day 1.
