Dude i'm usually the most pessimist in here, for once let me be optimistic even if the chances are very low
As an absolute sucker for horror movies, gore, hit reactions, systemic AI, ragdoll, enviromental interactions etc. this is kinda of a dream game for me.
I think it's more likely that The Witcher IV will have the NPC interactions from the demo than ILL looking like the trailer.
Actually it's very logical. That "game" was for a very long time made by a sungle guy. Now apparently they have a small team and are making state of the art game in both visuals and animations. No small team making their first game makes such a flawless looking game when it comes to those two aspects. It's not happening. Expect big downgrades in animations and polish if it ever comes out.I can't really follow the logic in that statement
what is it exactly that seems so technically unattainable in what is otherwise a better RE7? the movement and the camera?
as far back as I can remember, I can't think of any vaporware games that managed to appear on SGF or TGA.Actually it's very logical. That "game" was for a very long time made by a sungle guy. Its hellblade 2 vs gta6. Ill looks like a nice corridor shooter. The scale in atomic heart rivals most open world games. It might even look better than the Witcher 4 tech demo at times. But it's hard to say what's prerendered And what's realtime. You are wrong and you should feel bad about it.

Re4 also has amazing hair strands tech that is missing from dragongs dogma 2, monster hunter rise, and now re9. Its just really expensive. Its not an engine issue, just a gpu limitation.Yeah it is weird
Anyone who has played DMCV knows that character models in that game are simply mind-blowing

I don't think the engine is to blame in that regard honestly
I said beter of the show, not in general, although if the final game is gonna look exactly like this, i can see surpass anything. Its hellblade 2 vs gta6. Ill looks like a nice corridor shooter. Yeah and that speak volume about how impressive ill animations are.I think it's more likely that The Witcher IV will have the NPC interactions from the demo than ILL looking like the trailer.
We saw relatively small studios at their first important games having great animations and punching above their weight lately:fake animations for an indie studio....animations are hard to make.
I fee like Dmc 5 suffers from gears 4-5 syndrome where people was only showing the same fucking picture of white beard marcus and jd close up to show how good the characters looked, dante was definitely the best model in that game.Yeah it is weird

true but I was talking about how different teams utilise the same engine differently , especially for character renderingRe4 also has amazing hair strands tech that is missing from dragongs dogma 2, monster hunter rise, and now re9. Its just really expensive. Its not an engine issue, just a gpu limitation.
it was the same in-game , there are better scenes than this actually, I was just being lazy, and yes I have posted this several times on here because I have fond memories of that sceneI fee like Dmc 5 suffers from gears 4-5 syndrome where people where only showing the same fucking picture of white beard marcus and jd close up to show how good the characters looked, dante was definitely the best model in that game.
They were good, but this bitch ain't dante

nico was pretty good for smooth as fuck japanese average female rendering (but i'm not sure if this is cutscene or some promotional pic, she look worse ingame)

Best looking racing game of all time!
(Gonna get kidnapped by one of the users on this thread)
Dude, common. Did you forget about the whole Abandoned debacle and how Sony was promoting it on their show and how legit third party support studios came out and said they are involved in that project? Just because games appear on legit game events it doesn't mean anything. When you see a game made by a small indie studio making their first game having better animations and graphics than 99% of AAA studios out there it's a major red flag.as far back as I can remember, I can't think of any vaporware games that managed to appear on SGF or TGA.
they might get delayed [e.g. Replaced], or might even get cancelled due to the studio undergoing changes [Scalebound] but normally they end up releasing and doing well.
They also pay Jeff a hefty sum of money I assume.
why would they fork it out on something they don't want to see through to the end
Moreover, we keep underestimating how efficient UE5 has made the development process for studios,
even though we have had games like SH2 and HB2 with amazing visuals and motion capture, made by studios no drastically larger than this team
this is their first game, they have a lot to prove [the way Wukong did and ended up exceeding expectations]
and once more I ask, what exactly is there in that trailer that makes the game so unbelievably unattainable?
the camerawork is smooth because they are clearly using a controller. the graphics are similar to SH2.
the gore system already exists in TLOU2, it has just been made easier by UE5.
when you trace this game back to its inception, you will see the same gore system envisioned
for the final product from the very beginning, which was what has set this game apart from everything else
I am saying, let's just at least give them the benefit of the doubt
Yeah and that speak volume about how impressive ill animations are.
AH2 still feel like a videogame, this shit looks like a cg horror movie at times.
I liked this shot in RE9: Requiem trailer

what are you even talking about. The lighting is weak without RTGI.
I understand your concerens but I am not worried due to the reasons I mentioned aboveDude common, don't be naive. Did you forget about the whole Abandoned debacle and how Sony was promoting it on their show and how legit third party support studios came out and said they are involved in that project? yes, but we already had this gore system in many games, the OG Dead Space, REmake 2, Callisto, etc. It's funny cause in a way that's how you would expect a next-gen REVII to look like but since graphics stagnated so much this gen we just learned to not believe anything that seems out of the norm.
Well, we'll see in time. I've seen ton of these ambitions indie games never see a light, so really my pessimism is well justified. I will never believe a bunch of amateur devs can do flawless animations and graphics like that. Animations especially are hard to pull off, that's why only top tier studioy have animations of supreme quality.I understand your concerens but I am not worried due to the reasons I mentioned above
come on, you can't possibly compare a 4-second footage with a game that just appeared on the SGF show, that has long been in development , with a studio that has been putting out regular updates and just spent a fortune getting Jeff to show their games
yes BlueBox was an ordeal but you and I both know this is not that. because of the reasons I mentioned earlier
what are you even talking about.
It is either baked or using rtgi. We don't know but it looks excellent.
If it was using RT or not, you can't say by this screen
clearly they are not amateurish. it is just their first game. people said the same thing about WukongWell, we'll see in time. Btw, just because the game was at SGF doesn't mean they paid Geoff to put it there. He could have easily done it for free because of how impressive it looked and knowing it would bring lot of attention. Or they may have spent that money to bring attention that would lead to investment. That would make a lot of sense.
Looks similar to their previous game, you are probably just wearing your Forespoken shades.what are you even talking about.
It is either baked or using rtgi. We don't know but it looks excellent.
If it was using RT or not, you can't say by this screen
but even village got rt gi... and it was years ago so I expect this to be betterLooks about the same as their previous games. RT reflections and shadows probably.
But going off the whole trailer I don't see any close to accurate GI look. Just obvious to my eyes after watching all those UE5 trailers vs this. It's the weakest part of their engine along with shaders.
I mentioned this a dozen times now, those animations are way too good for an indie studio. They look perfect and pre-rendered.I am genuinely curious, what in that trailer seems so hard to pull off?
some of those are clearly scripted scenes / cutscenes [without letterboxing similar to Max Payne 3's seamless transitions or Metro series controlled 1st person camera]I mentioned this a dozen times now, those animations are way too good for an indie studio. They look perfect and pre-rendered.
but even village got rt gi... and it was years ago so I expect this to be better
You seem to be betting a lot on this game, are your sure you're not one of the developers or their family? Lol. I'm just kidding, but it seems crazy to have so much faith in this indie studio.some of those are clearly scripted scenes / cutscenes [without letterboxing similar to Max Payne 3's seamless transitions or Metro series controlled 1st person camera]
along with industry standard motion capture, we have had that since COD4
the gameplay ones are run of the mill animations that look impressive when coupled with physics/ragdolls and dynamic lighting
I am not trying to defend the studio
I am merely pointing out that there is nothing out of the ordinary here, it's just a well crafted trailer showcasing great mechanics that have already exists in most games
looks fine to me and nothing strikes me as improper in this shot lighting wise.Did it? I was curious so I searched it yesterday but didn't see much of a difference on and off and only for shadows and reflections.

Overly dark, barely any bounce light. Just lacks the atmosphere that a good GI solution would bring.
This shot was the most impressive part for me. My mouth opened when I seen it. I will be very pleased with this result.I liked this shot in RE9: Requiem trailer

I have been a part of this discussion for a looong time , baby !You seem to be betting a lot on this game, are your sure you're not one of the developers or their family? Lol. I'm just kidding, but it seems crazy to have so much faith in this indie studio.
all about composition and presentation, colour grading and lighting adjustments, my friendThis shot was the most impressive part for me. My mouth opened when I seen it. I will be very pleased with this result.
I respect your enthusiasm. I look forward to talking about this in 2030 or whenever this game releases, if it ever does.I have been a part of this discussion for a looong time , baby !
but yes
GymWolf and I work at the studio
The benefits are great
jokes aside, I have been following this game closely from the very beginning and I like the devs
I think there's a chance this game might be the next horror sleeper hit
I have no prejudice here, this might turn out to be trash but
I like underdogs, the same way I rooted for Callisto or the Order 1886 back then
by the way,Did it? I was curious so I searched it yesterday but didn't see much of a difference on and off and only for shadows and reflections.

no they are not lol.Damn, just watched few trailers from Future Games Show and AA studios are doing crazy things with UE5. Those indie devs are legit putting the likes of Sony to shame.
I am sure it's going to surpass every other game they made on the series to this point. Also I'm sure the engine will be upgraded/ tweaked.all about composition and presentation, colour grading and lighting adjustments, my friend
Otherwise, it is the same old engine albeit slightly upgraded
devs are learning and gradually appreciating the importance of cinematography in their games as they strive more and more for photorealism
You're tripping.no they are not lol.
Future games show was mostly crap outside of few titles
Dead space remake at 30fps also looks pretty fluid on PS5 on a OLED, whereas some other 30fps games look horribly stuttery. I don't know whyUnsure if this is a good place to ask but I've noticed games where they achieve 30 fps without motion blur that is so smooth you'd think it was 60fps.
In particular I'm referring to red dead 2 on ps4. I picked up for $15 thinking I wouldn't mess with it much having completed it on my PC years back.
To my surprise I legit can't tell this is 30fps. Yet if I turn on 30 fps mode on something I played recently like assassins creed shadows, or Callisto protocol it is jarring and immediately noticeable.
What are they doing here that others haven't adapted?
I now have 0 concerns for gta6 being 30 fps if it runs like rdr2 does.
I like the way re9 looks ...and especially because I know it will actually look like that unlike some of these other games that are harder to believe inI liked this shot in RE9: Requiem trailer
