I'm on Chapter 16, really enjoying it. Luckily the game is broken up in chapters and seems very replayable.

It looks fairly good on Series X but this is clearly much, much better looking.

It doesn't seem like there is a huge difference but I will try it anyway

The gif in my OP shows an absolutely massive difference. The fire, sure, but the most impressive bit is the shed and trees in between the two fires. Goes from a flat, depthless mess to perfect shadows and lighting.

The PT implementation on the other Id-Tech 8 game, Indiana Jones, was mostly garbage that couldn`t hold a candle to the, at this point ancient, implementation in CP2077, so my expectations are somewhat muted.

What? Indy's path tracing implementation was probably the most transformative implementation of path tracing we've seen yet. Went from being a mid looking game to being one of the best looking games available.

Water is blue? :goog_relieved:
Pure water has a very slight blue tint due to its molecular structure. This is not because it reflects the sky (a common misconception), but because water absorbs longer wavelengths of light (like red, orange, and yellow) more efficiently than shorter blue wavelengths. As a result, blue light is scattered and transmitted more, making large volumes of water appear blue.

Water load of bollocks

Thanks Grok. 🌝

Nah but really, that's cool. Always though it was the reflection of the sky.

PT looks a lot better than the mediocre RT implementation in that game, but it's still massively uneven looking imo. Especially character rendering, but there are some genuinely very flat looking areas visually. I'm playing it with full maxed out PT too.

But no comment that water isn't wet, but makes things wet?

I'd sub to GP for a month then buy on sale at a later date tbh.

You'll be done with it in under a week. Took me 13 hours to finish.

Good game though.

Yeh just seen on gg.deals that it's still pretty much full price everywhere that's selling a steam key.

I already tried it on gamepass at launch and then refunded the sub after a week, just wanted to see whether or not I liked the new mechanics enough to buy when the path tracing patch dropped.

Its a good game but not worth the frankly ridiculous price MS are asking for it.

I picked it up off CDKeys for £50. Its worth that, just about.

Can they patch in something that will actually improve the game, like maybe patch the sense of humor back in? Or the linear levels? Or Patch out the giant-robot/dragon sections?

why not just 1 month of gamepass? that's way cheaper than 50 quid
I don't do gamepass. I let my sub lapse earlier this year. It's not for me.

Besides following your advice I'd now have to sub again to check out this update. And again later in the year to play through the coming DLC.
