Super Mario Odyssey | Switch VS Switch 2 | Final Graphics Comparison

yeah yeah, not my native language and i try not to use translator so i can practice, so it ll have some misspellings here and there

Bad ➡️ Worse ➡️ Worst
Good ➡️ Better ➡️ Best
Large ➡️ Larger ➡️ Largest

if it ends with -st it is always the superlative. if it ends with anything else, it's the comparative.
hat's the 1 thing English does that isn't convoluted nonsense

it was just a hook mistake, but thanks for take your time to help me :pie_sfwth:

Don't think I will ever get over how big a difference just bumping up the resolution can bring. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Thats looks like a decent update, unlike that shit Pokemon Scarlet nothing update.

I mean, it not running at sub 30fps with 2fps animations, but instead at 60fps with full framerate animations is a pretty big upgrade I'd say.

you always have to take into account what the starting point of each game is. imagine how badly these Pokemon games are made that they ran like they did on Switch 1.
they can't fix the entire engine for a patch after all lol.

comparatively to the graphics, Pokemon Scarlet should have run at 60fps on Switch 1 already the way it looks 🙃

The game shouldn't be release on that state and the update is literally force bruting the game as PC does with emulators.

Just because the game runs super bad doesn't mean the update is good, just means the NS2 is a great machine. This update is what the base game should be to begin with.

you are right, but you have unrealistic expectations if you expected Gamefreak would release a better patch lol.

Nice! The super low resolution and jaggies stood out like a sore thumb, making the game unenjoyable to play on TV to say the least. Cool!

DLSS4 magic

I doubt this upgrades uses DLSS4 because the game doesn't have TAA in the first place

Edit: yeah I can confirm this is not using DLSS, in the city you can still see jaggies everywhere

So why is this a free upgrade while the Zelda games aren't? Mario is an equally big game. They even share the engine (albeit most likely modified).
As the others said, I guess it's the APP,

But I also think that's because BOTW and TOTK where the most popular games of the switch 1 AND they had huge framerates problems, so I guess going from sub 900p/30fps with big drops to 1440p/60fps stable is more impressive than 900p/60fps stable to 1440p/60fps stable, they made people pay for the the most significant update.

Do we have to pay for the Pokémon games updates BTW? Because the Zeldas looked butterly smooth compared to that mess.

SOOOOO... I tried pixel counting (youtube video quality is not great for that, so it's not easy), and at one spot at 8:46 I found an easy to count edge...

and, uhm. maybe I am miscounting, but I am getting 1800p here

ruler of 30, 25 steps: 30/25 = 0.8333333333333333 * 2160 = 1800

could this be a dynamic resolution up to maybe 1800p?
that edge I counted seems to be pretty clean and the staristepping seems very obvious. so either I completely forgot how to do this or this is way higher than 1440p

EDIT: same 1800p results when looking at the New Donk City shot at 2:46. again 25 steps on a 30 pixel ruler.

there was another scene inside new donk city, where I only found an edge that was big enough to do a quick 15 ruler wide test, where I got 12 of 15, which would come out at 1728p, but a 15 pixel ruler on a 2160p image isn't really all that accurate. so that scene could also have been 1800p as 1728p is close enogh to estimate that given the other 2 results.

and generally speaking, some parts of this look like FSR1 is in use, as some edges seem "drawn over" so to speak. but that could also just be youtube compression doing whakey stuff.

EDIT2:
yeah, I won't spam more images, but every single time I try counting a somewhat countable edge in the video, I get 1800p. it's always 25 steps on a 30 ruler, or 12 steps on a 15 ruler.
but now I wonder how ElAnalistaDeBits got 1440p here. I miss VG Tech, because VG Tech always also had links to lossless uploads of the exact screenshots they used to count

would you look at that, I was right, it is dynamic 1800p

and that's why ElAnalistaDeBits should not ever be taken seriously. it was super easy to poxelcount their own fucking video and disproof their own claims lol
