15 years ago I would have stepped in to help a police officer in trouble.
Nowadays, in an urban area, the young louts can throw their bikes at them all they want. I wouldn't piss on a police officer if they were on fire now.
Rural police are still mostly okay. Not that there are many left now. I'd still help them so long as it was to stop actual criminals. If they go after people for hurty words, then they can get to fuck too.

yeah, I grew up in my parents house in Clayton. Got my own first 2 bedroom flat above the Barkarend auto garage where I lived for a couple years as a student, before I moved to Japan for work.
Came back to Bradford central in 2015 to a city I no longer recognised and quickly bailed out with the money I had saved over the years. Which part are you from mate? small world!
We moved to a cottage near chipping norton in 2017 or so.. had our kid and enjoyed the insane house price appretiation since then, lol

I was in the Shropshire Hills today and it was beautiful and still very much is the England that people in the past outside of this country would romantacise about.
Whether it's the Cotsworlds or elsewhere still there are hundreds of pockets like it.
Your best bet to make the most out of a nation in decline and still have a good life is to leave these towns and citys that no longer resemble England and retreat to the shires from which you can access urban life.
Some are also very affordable and cheaper than living in the city too.

Small rural town living here, you can do White flight all you want but it'll catch you back. Main political issue here( Canada) is immigration, majority wants it to end.

I was up against the polices £275 an hour solicitor and I beat them in court using Google and chat gpt this is how weak and bollocks their case was. If theres one good thing that's came of it, is The experience has left me completely clued up in police procedures, lawful, unlawful arrests and even the law. Because front line police have no idea when it comes to what constitutes an actual offence or law. One of the clowns was threatening to smash my door in even though they had no warrant and kept saying they only wanted a chat.
I've managed to claim back all my costs it taking them to court and I've got a separate no win no fee claim going through so a couple of thousand.
Your friend must have had a shit solicitor because going off what you said any half decent one would have had the polices pants down over that. He can still pursue it now and even have the conviction overturned easily. Unfortunately what happened to him is typical police closing ranks to fuck someone over.

When we moved here in winter 17, we paid £512,000 for this cottage. It was quite run down and we spent 3-4 years doing it up with the help of friends and family.
Then, Amazon realeased a little known show called Clarksons Farm and.. well, lets just say the house isn't worth £512k anymore. The market here exploded during covid and then went to the moon after the success of that show. The only problem now is the traffic for the bloody farm from the series and the constant tourists causing havok. I swear every other day I am getting rammed off my own road by some wankstain in a Range Rover full of essex yobs trying to get a picture with Jezza.

According to Home Office figures, 81% are men.
They get put up in hotels or other accommodation until their claim is processed.
Around 5,000 people who arrived by small boat between 2018 and 2024 had been returned from the UK by the end of 2024, making up 3% of all arrivals. Most of these returns had been to Albania.
Many get lost in the system and join criminal gangs (A lot of gangs use people smuggling to recruit people), others stay because they believe the lie that they'll get a free house, car and a well paid job etc. Most come here because they have friends, families or they know there is a large community of their nationality here that can help them.
I'm guessing we'll get around 40K arriving this year alone. Maybe more if the weather holds out for long periods.

Our governement had to release 'low risk' prisoners early, last summer. The wankers had their mates meet them outside in BMWs with knock-off Champagne.
Oh, but post a nasty message and then delete it after some fresh air and you serve your entire sentence. Or be a bit dim and knowingly break the law after being warned not to, but have to serve almost all your sentence in solitary else you'll be shanked.

I lived there for 4 years whilst at uni there (2000-2004), was rough then, with plenty of no go areas, remember getting mithered by a prostitute one night after I had been the garage for cigs late one night, and her pimp (assuming it was her pimp) walked past giving me looks whilst a gun was half tucked into his pants; I didnt stick around.
Glad im not at uni there now, partly with how it sounds like it has got even worse, and the uni night life sounds like it has been wiped out, with the student union no longer being a bar. I know Gaudis has shut down, used to be in there regular and the FND in the basement was awesome.

Everyone seems to go to Leeds these days. Don't think anyone goes out in Bradford at night for obvious reasons. I watched a video at the weekend of a popular vlogger who walked around Bradford. People on spice, people living in tents in the city centre, violence and more. Like something out of a horror film.

my sister still lives in bradford, where I grew up, and she said there are HMO's filled with non-english speaking dudes. Literally filled to overflowing, surprised the health agencies haven't been getting involved as there are 10-15 people living in 3 bedroom terraced houses.

Western Europe is beyond repair at this point, so much damage done in the last ten years (decades in few countries). Unless they really change governments and start mass deportations + locked borders but I don't believe that this is possible.

It's not, we are being told since birth that multicultural societies are good, and most of our countries are filled with people who got money and live quiet lives, they won't see an issue until they get pushed out of their own neighbourhoods by immigrants.
It's gonna take decades before the left admits that for a lot of muslims, this is a race thing, and they don't like us.
In Sweden, the politicians famously said that their borders will be open and anyone can come. The immigrants settled in some parts in the big cities, and now you have a country where 95% of the nation is fantastic and the other 5% is filled with murder gangs.
Some of the left politicians have admitted they were wrong, but most of the country is still pro cultural diversity, even if it's going downhill. People just won't be able to change their minds on this in Western Europe, the way we are brought up makes people view multicultural societies as enrichment, even if people are literally being butchered in the streets and every European country is slowly collapsing.

It's in managed decline. No one knows how to fix it, not even Farage. Taxes keep going up, jobs are vanishing. I myself am being made redundant, personally I'm not too worried about it as I stuck around too long but I think it's because of the increased costs to retaining an employee under this government.
I plan to move to a quiet village in Suffolk or Oxfordshire, until the day Birmingham or Blackburn attempt to declare Sharia based independance. At which point I'll buy a few acres in bumfuck nowhere Montana and live in peace looking at the mountains with a rifle by my side.
