Yep, this game looks awesome. So good I watched it twice.

The vast scenery gives me BOTW vibes. I adore the visuals tbh. Not as detailed as AC:Shadows, but more evocative and atmospheric.

I'm warming to Atsu. Some of the outfits look bad ass. I'm going with ninja bitch.

The camp is a great addition and takes away the frustration I had with the original. There appear to be many QOL features.

Music sounds fantastic.

Day 1.

Everything looked great so far.

Hoping for some sort of 'Heaven or Hell' difficulty mode with one hit kill swings on either side, to really make the experience feel tense and movie-like.

Also, I need to hear more of the music samples in Watanabe-mode. I could already feel the loss of Nujabes' impact in that small cut of music they presented, but maybe there's hope that a new artist can bring out something great.

What made Nujabes' music great wasn't just 'lo-fi' ...it was about the impact and feeling mixed in with those parts of lo-fi. It was about specific instruments used to evoke certain feelings.

It's going to be such a monumentally difficult task for this specific feature (unless they just chose random chill music and phone it in).

Like imagine going through a very difficult battle in the game and finally getting a breath of fresh air. It's nighttime. The moonlight lights your way. In the game, you'd want to hear something like this...

...and not this (one of his weaker tracks):

Or when the protagonist finally encounters a happy moment? Something like this...

In town at night? Maybe this...

Nujabes will forever be missed, and within such a short time he had a huge impact on the lo-fi scene to the point where people tried making 'sequel albums' for him but they never quite hit those same highs. Again, for anyone that truly cares, this will be a monumentally difficult task.

What is this last gen looking sequel to GoT?! So disappointed. This game is coming out on a new generation of console and it looks fucking identical to GoT

Wtf Sony and Sucker Punch?

Look at the rocks and terrain geometry....its the same low level stuff. Texture quality is the same. The tall grass? Literally the SAME ASSETS as the first.

This is a piss poor effort from a game everyone expected to actually look amazing a couple years ago....this is even smaller improvement than Spiderman 2

The character models still look a bit rough, but the environments and scope look fantastic - just like the original. The wind and physics are whipping a bit too hard and makes things look a bit goofy in some scenes.

The voice of the main character is a bit raspy, like she's been smoking a pack a day for the last 20 years. Not sure she was the best choice for the role.

I'll probably still buy it bc there isnt anything else to play, but it It was basically exactly what I expected from Sony first party this generation.

What a shitshow. Imagine not having much to show so you add the "use slopes to descend" as a new cool mechanic.
They could have easily added these weapons/skills via a patch and call it a day.

Safe overpriced triple AAA product sequel just like Raganarok, SM2, DS2, etc. Originality is dead. Will prolly play it though cuz not much else releasing at the end of the year.

Absolutely nothing shown here looks like a game made for current gen. This is as PS4 as it gets. How the fuck is Rift Apart, years old game, looks significantly better than this? It's as if Yotei was already made for the PS4 years ago, they shelved it as a panic button release for when it's needed, and then they just ported it to the PS5, calling it a current gen exclusive.

The very only thing that looked nice are the vistas, but that's mostly because of the aesthetic, not impressive visuals.

And that's crazy because GoT looks 90% identical, and that was made for dogshit Jag cpu's. Nobody at Sony bothers updating their engines, they release sequels to PS4 games that look the same as they did years ago.

6/10 presentation of the game.
Exactly.

It's weird to move away from the Ghost of Tsushima timeline to basically just do the same exact formula all over again. What was the point?

Looks great, but a bit more of the same. I think Tsushima released at a better time when ppl was starving for a good game in Feudal Japan, and this one gonna release after the market been flooded with Feudal Japan games, we got Rise of the Ronin and an Ass Creed just recently of the same style.

Will play it, but gonna wait for the PC version and a good price to buy it.

The problem is these very safe, incremental sequels used to only take them 2-3 years -- after a 5-6 years wait you kind of hope for something that's more unique or pushes the envelope a little bit more.

Looks fantastic as expected, those special modes with extra mud, blood, low-fi tracks + Japanese language will be :messenger_fire:
The landscapes look amazing.
They have built on the foundation of the original adding enough twists without overturning the main structure.
The wolf as a companion, the clues system based on cards, the mode to relive Atsu's past, the camping with cooking, it seems you can play some gambling games, play the shamisen.
Really cool stuff 🥂

I agree, Ratchet certainly is nice looking. But i am also used to seeing big jumps of visuals in all Sony exclusives, and we ain't seeing any of it here. I just can't get over the fact that GoT was made for a 2013 system with Jaguar cpu's, and it looks almost identical to the sequel that isn't even out yet. Not my expectations from Sony 1st party studios.
It looks much better to me, it's apparently 60fps as standard also. Draw distance is much better, textures are better (the ground textures are much improved), there just seems to be more of everything such as grass, particles (like snow, leaves etc). I am playing through Tsushi at the moment, this is certainly improved. Is it similar? yeh, sure, of course it is, it's a sequel to an already amazing looking game, but identical, nah.

Incredible music, OST slaps. Just listen to Yotei 6 on Apple Music or Spotify.

Incredible artstyle, everything looks beautiful, watercolour like.

Menu/Art looks amazing, the character screen, and video playing on her head. Super neat.

Some great QoL stuff.

Super fun combat, flashy and fun. Easy probably but that's okay.

Performance is kinda bad imo, l will pick this on PC

Excited as fuck, Sucker Punch cooked. Sony still king of games that you'll remember for a long time.

The narrator said that the correct way to play this game is just to get lost, just explore.

See that castle? Go explore. I love shit like this, inject all of it into my veins.

I mean you've got to be pretty dense to actually take my facetious comment to heart, but the textures are a joke, I expected a large improvement over the first game, not this half step
You are correct. Copy/paste, No new geometry upgrades or 4K like textures like Decima or UE5.

Looks safe, but what did people honestly expect?

You overpraised the first game for being a slightly better Ubisoft game with a unchallenging story a month after TLOU2 threw you for a loop while trying to be different. You liked this safe product the first time, so the devs simply listened, have fun with more of it.

Nujabes is great, ever heard of Jinsang?

There is no reflections in the water, and no improvements worth giving a shit about in any facet of this game. Visuals, combat, mechanics, etc.

This is the most phoned in sequel of all time. Sucker punch should be ashamed.

Called it - wet fart.

I fear we're going to overcorrect the open world gameplay loop. There is really no other way to do it. Best you can do is hide quest markers. But gameplay is the same no matter what. "Walk to X, fight, then walk to Y, talk". I don't see how it's even possible to change that loop. You can just change the dressings around it.

I guess this one of those games that if you enjoyed the first game you gonna enjoy this one.

Unfortunately for me I didn't liked the first game, so pass for me.

"last gen textures LOL LMAO XD" No normal person notices that shit.

It's just the graphics obsessed people on gaf and other forums. Most people don't give a shit.
Like you hear everyone who is playing Death Stranding 2 talking about how nice they think it looks. Go to the graphics thread here and it's people upset Kojima didn't make the game run at 480p and 25fps so he could add next gen ground textures and rocks for the people who apparently play with the camera pointing down the entire time.

open world fatigue has fully hit me, watching this i had no desire to play the game. visually doesnt look that much better either but i guess thats cause its targeting 60fps

I still need to play GoT... Waiting for a hefty discount on Steam.

This looks like it could've also released on PS4. Image quality looks the same as GoT

Sucker Punch deserves an award for "Least improved Sequel on a New Console Generation"

I wish gamers wouldn't accept this from Sony studios this gen but we already have sadly. Both PS5 owners and the "games media" will act like this is a "proper ps5 exclusive" but man, this is in the same pile of games now as: Ragnarok, GT7, Spiderman 2, Last of Us Remake, Last of Us 2 "remastered"/ Uncharted 4 "remastered" .....just not even trying to take advantage of the very hardware people bought with the idea that we'd see some actual graphical improvements.

But this game isn't cross gen and is coming out in 2025 AND the Ps5 Pro exists so there's no excuse under the sun for this to look identical to GoT. No RT. At least Spiderman had an improved lighting model as well as RT reflections. This game? Mayyybe some better distant detail but that is stretching it. So where is the extra power even going to? Animation quality looks last gen too ... piss poor Sucker Punch

-Looks fantastic, Not dramatically different from the first game, but an improvement.
-Gameplay is also similar. That's not a bad thing. More weapons is a plus.
-Like how upgrades are all done at rest stops. No more hunting down vendors and such
-Photo mode looks amazing

All looks good to me. A good preview
I really love that they've went with truly open-ended campaign akin of recent Zeldas. Fits the setting soooo much.
