I saw a video from a (his left side) perspective where he was in the process of being asked questions about mass shootings. I hope someone is detaining the person asking those questions because that timing is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuussssssssssssssssssss.

What's even more depressing is the context of what happened vs his fundamental principle. If you remove his political views, his fundamental goal was to have a free and open debate. That you should be able to discuss alternate viewpoints in an open setting. He was shot for doing it.
 
While I thought Kirk could sometimes come across as a bit of a pillock, especially when it came to religion and abortion, I otherwise found him polite, fair, well-researched, and worth listening to on most subjects. He certainly didn't deserve a bullet over words.

It is a gun problem, if every gun in this country magically disappeared tomorrow, legal and illegal, we'd have far fewer homicides in this country. About 80% of homicides in America are committed via firearm. But I've accepted we are too far gone in that regard. We can tighten up some gun laws and such, and possibly reduce the rates minimally, but for the most part, someone who desperately wants to get their hands on one will be able to somehow. Over 400 million guns is too many to do anything about it now.
 
I hate painting with broad strokes, as that's what the left does. I know that nothing I say below is revolutionary.

However it must be said that this is the modern day left wing.

A large percentage of them, including the media machine and their various billionaire backers, do not believe in core democratic principles like freedom of expression or freedom of thought. They do want to silence you with violence, they will smugly revel in violence against 'the enemy'.

The mainstream media fans this and continues to dehumanise right wing personalities, beliefs and supporters whilst using extremist language.

I hope God gives Charlie Kirk, his wife and his children strength.

In Africa they kill one another by the hundreds of thousands with machetes. It's not the guns, it's not the knives.

It's people and the crazy ideologies going around for the last decade. This insanity needs to stop.
 
According to CBS, BBC News saying the person who was "suspected" of being the shooter, the old man, was released, so it turns out the shooter is still out there.

Further tightening gun laws only serves to remove or restrict firearms from law abiding citizens. Criminals do not obey the law, regulation, or restrictions.

People will kill each other without firearms, they are just tools.

Charlie had guards, you can see them patrolling around him. But to counter a sniper (if that's what this was).....that's a whole 'nother level because that's a very premeditated act.
 
This is terrible. I'm no fan of his, but none of that matters when some asshole just murders him in cold blood.

I don't think he's going to survive that. I'm almost certain he was gone within a couple minutes, no matter what they are saying. That was too much blood loss too quickly.
 
What's really amazing is how much this is now a topic everywhere.

A guy that simply set out to make a change, that calls for honest debate. It's a silver lining to know how much he affected the world and maybe have helped shape it parts of the US.

Not necessarily, depends on what those laws are. Given where we are now, I can never begrudge someone for wanting to own a gun, because in a country with hundreds of millions of them, people should have a right to protect themselves. At the same time, if I was a god and could snap my fingers and make them all disappear, including illegal(except for military use of course) I would.

The problem is that the 'left' has been totally shanghaied by the EXTREME left and they can't defend hardly anything with words because those positions are batshit crazy.

The 'right' equivalent would be a Westminster Baptist nutjob but that's NOT what these conservative speakers are (despite the MSM trying to cast them as such). We are basically seeing the center of the political spectrum taking axe hits from the far left. The far right barely exists (though they will grow) in the context of what history would say about these figures.

at risk of starting the cycle.. i will try to make a concise point...
criminals largely get guns from legitimate sources. The guns used in criminality aren't largely blackmarket.
If criminals are getting the guns from lets say "law-abiding citizens", then reducing the guns on the market will also reduce the amount of guns available to the criminals.

Doesn't matter that the criminal may have stolen the gun, or gotten it from their father, gf, brother, neighbor or craiglist. Less guns means less available for the people who are using them violently.

Don't know much about these events, but doesn't he just publicly debate with people that disagree with him? So I don't think this is that unlikely..
 
This is so fucking weird. I literally just picked up a revolver not four hours ago, come home and finish work, and then see this.

Really hope he somehow survives but that seems actually impossible.
