Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah campus event

I see this analogy from time to time, but a gun is very different to a mode of transportation. You don't need a gun to go and shop for groceries, or drop your kids at daycare, or travel to meet with family or loved ones. A car for many people is a basic necessity for day to day life, you can't say the same for a gun.

I'm not going to debate guns and such. I'm just adding the context to what Kirk said about what is "unfortunate" about the existence of guns that is sorely missing from people trying to score a cheap "gotcha" out of his death.

Curiosity got the better of me and I watched a close up video on X and as expected absolutely brutal! Regardless of the mans politics this was never the answer. People celebrating with glee at his horrific demise should spare a thought for his family, or just go the whole hog and get a fucking lobotomy because you're subhuman.

It's clear the post WWII peace we all have been able to enjoy is coming to an end. Spend time with your loved ones people because the world is going to continue to get darker. I hope the lesson is learned from the senseless murder of Charlie but seeing the responses on social media, I don't think it will.

It'll get worse, there will likely be retaliations which will snowball on both sides, the future really does look bleak and I hate being a doomsayer but man it's probably just best to get off social media and put blinders on, cos it's all very depressing

Modern conservatism has one common them across the west, the idea that we are a sovereign people who have a claim to their own land. And that globalism and all it's side effects such as mass immigration will erode this until there is nothing left.

So far this hasn't really turned violent and it's proponents have been trying to reach a solution through democracy. Places like the UK are a tinderbox though and I think violence will come as over here people have voted time and time again to stop this and it is being ignored.

Progressivism is different, because it is rooted in cultural marxism and idyllic thinking. If you're not with us, you're against us. Speech is violence, silence is violence. If a conservative party wins the election, gays and ethnic minorities will be sent off to the gas chamber within a month. This is all proven to be horseshit ex post.

Violence is the natural conclusion of this rhetoric, so the faux outrage from figureheads like this needs to be called out. You broke it, you bought it.

I think most people are able to understand that there is no contradiction between:
(1) that this person thinks Charlie Kirk was an asshole
(2) that this person still thought he should not have been killed and his family should not have to watch the video of him being killed.

I have no idea who Harry Sisson is btw. But here's Mike Lee, a senator, making a joke about a state senator and his wife being shot to death in their homes.

Horrible.
How empty must his life be to get up his arse and go do that thing.

Children have been raised wrong and social media has done nothing but fuel people's anger towards each other to outrageous levels. It may never truly sink in for me, but this is the America we live in now.

I think it's only gonna get worse. Parents of today have a moral responsibility to teach Gen Alpha the value of human life.

I'm sure there were 1000s of people saying the same thing when Nancy Pelosi's husband almost got hammered to death. This shit isn't a left or right thing but it does matter when people are blaming a certain group while we don't even know who did it and why.
The pearl clutching over this guy is insane considering the shit that's all over the internet every single day. Including by kirk himself who spit on murdered innocent victims himself ( verbally) and victim of attempted murder, enabling further violence.

I'm not saying it's good that he died like this, just that the pearl clutching is eye rolling.

On the other hand...

People online are honouring Charlie's legacy the way he would've wanted, by displaying the exact amount of empathy towards him that he had for others - none at all. "I hate that word 'empathy', actually. I think it's a made-up, New Age term that does a lot of damage." (Charlie Kirk's mouth, October 12, 2022).

If you have all the heart, warmth and compassion of a teaspoon when it comes to the most barbaric of acts and consider the slaughter of young lives "worth it, to protect the God-given right of the Second Amendment" (Charlie Kirk's mouth, April 5, 2023), it's only natural for your own words to be thrown straight back at you should you befall the same fate you willingly turn a blind eye to.

Not saying he deserved to get lynched, but people online are just portraying his behaviour. If you don't like their behaviour, then you shouldn't have liked Charlie's either...
Yup. All the moral warriors are on a war path today to highlight kirks death and the evil left celebrating.

Its pathetic. Espouse violence, say empathy is a moral failing, call for the return for slavery, and say children should watch executions. Total normal behavior for a sociopath.

Rfk Jr, Alex Jones, Roger stone, Steve Bannon, Rush Limbaugh... the list goes on with these corrupt, racist, sexist, xenophobic pieces of shit. They are robbing the country blind, making it sicker, and stupidier and yall are worshipping Charlie Kirk?

People can try and both sides this but it's different on the left now. There isn't this widespread acceptance of and encouragement to violence amongst conservatives. Whether it's attempts on Trump's life, random CEOs getting murdered on the street, Tesla stores being bombed, people being attacked just for the cars they drive etc. Not even mentioning that half the lone shooters these days are confused genderbent weirdos.

There's obviously a problem and the longer it's ignored the worse it's going to get. And the right is definitely start to get more authoritarian and cold-hearted again in response to this and that's obviously dangerous too. And it's almost too late to stop at this point.

You know I've been seeing this whole thing about both sides and this is one of those occasions that that argument needs to go to hell for now.

Anyone who doesn't suck up and eat what the mainstream media says and thinks for themselves knows the way the media and the world leans, alongside education, now. They want to globalism and they want the United States not to exist in its current form. I think people need to heed the words of the El Salvadorian president when he used the analogy of the boiling frog.

The people saying that were far right Qanon level nuts. The issue with what happened yesterday is the people acting this way on the left think they have a moral high ground and refuse to acknowledge they're just as crazy and dangerous as the crazies on the right that were happy about what happened to Pelosi.

At a December 2023 political conference hosted by his Turning Points USA group, Wired magazine reported that Kirk decried not only Martin Luther King Jr., calling the civil rights leader "awful" and "not a good person," but also the Civil Rights Act of 1965 that outlawed discrimination on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex and national origin, and prohibited segregation.

"I have a very, very radical view on this, but I can defend it, and I've thought about it," Kirk said. "We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s."

Kirk argued the statute had brought about what he said was a "permanent" bureaucracy meant to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

Totally clears the assassin. Thank you.

Kirk is literally one of the people who was endorsing it ...he was very much apart of this crazy violent rhetoric. Not saying he deserved this but let's not act like he is a saint in this. He used his platform to endorse violence and people who committed violence on innocent people like pelosi's husband.

I'm not sure what pelosi's husband has ever said publicly to endorse violence.

My point stands. The people celebrating the assassination are the lefts equivalent of the far right nuts. You (people celebrating, not you literally, unless you're celebrating) don't have a moral high ground because you have different opposite beliefs. You're just as crazy and dangerous.

You're a loon. Stop talking.

I think it's more likely that your perception of bigotry has warped into "any stat I don't like."
I think that's a good theory. but i think what's even more likely is that despite all the stuff he has said about the role of women, being scared of black pilots, defending Musks' statement about Jews fueling anti-white hate, and other racist comments he's made - despite all that he's still considered a moderate by modern republican standards.

Between this video and the Ukrainian woman video, it's a sad ass week to have eyes.

Absolutely tragic though, I hope his 2 kids will be alright. Never seen so much celebration for someone who just got murdered, who wasn't a bad man at all. Sickening. I really hope some of this shit bites them on the ass, getting fired from work etc, as if these fucks have jobs.

How to take quotes out of context 101. You should read the first 27 pages, but something tells me reading isn't your strong suit.

Thomas Sowell, a black economist and recipient of the National Humanities Medal, also argued against the Civil Rights Act. Just a recommendation, but maybe read some books that challenge your worldview every once in a while?

Ah yes, let's argue against the civil rights act. That doesn't sound sus as fuck

I actually have no words

I consider myself a left leaning centrist and yet I can't believe how far gone people have to be to celebrate someones death like this. They're cooked, pure evil.

Out of interest, where did he say gay people should be stoned to death? Or are you just copy pasting images from somewhere else without checking authenticity.

Let's not pretend the left leaning media, which is the majority, is not a large part of the propaganda that causes things like this

You are naive if you haven't stepped back and seen that. Unplug from the matrix for a minute.

Bro, the most successful news organization in America is Fox News

When and how did Charlie endorse the violence that happened to Paul Pelosi?

And there will be more, and more, and more! Do you think this violence is going to discourage these people? Nah.

This post has 360k likes. Equating a person going to collegue campuses to have a dialogue and on the other side a mass murder who is responsible for the murder of at least 6 million people is insane.
All this "feelings instead of facts" discourse online and labeling everyone who dares to have a different opinion in some matters as a nazi is a huge problem.

This post also has almost 360k likes. Again feelings, no facts. Charlie Kirk is neither a government nor did he engage in unprovoked, murderous aggression. Who cares about facts?

Another one who thinks assassination is OK. The lack of self awareness explains alot. That's how socialists backed the Islamic Revolution only to have it turned on them. Political assassination is wrong period. I don't care if I detest what somebody is saying, I don't want them murdered.

A select few individuals are the face of a political side? Bruh- this kind of stuff happens on both sides. Every side has crazies.
There are tens of thousands of examples of people celebrating across Bluesky, Reddit, and IRL in Tiktok and Instagram videos

It's not a "select few" by any stretch of the imagination

If you don't really understand how much the left has radicalized after 2016 due to the first election of Trump, you just haven't been paying attention

There are no moderate Democrats left now in the party. Remember this tonight, and going forward

Calm the fuck down

You act like fucking AOC sent a sniper to assassinate him. Authorities still haven't caught him so all these premature takes are getting cringe as fuck, tribal even. Unga Bunga. Let's attack the other village because someone killed the goat kind of mentality.

Mighty silent on the numbers of political assassination attempts since 90's that I replied to you. Hard facts by the DOJ. Melissa Hortman, why didn't you create a thread for that outrage? Ah right, murders happen, murders bad, nothing to say really. Charlie Kirk? TO WAR!

You've only posted shit in this thread to drive a wedge between left and right. You poison the well.

We have peoples in this thread now with bloodlust and calling for revenge. Peoples that I will report. This place was cleaned after Jan 6 and I doubt mod team wants a repeat of that fucking mess. If I'm told that calling for people's death based on their political ideology is now ok in off topic while a week ago nothing political, I'll be be fucking shocked.

Again that's not what I'm doing. But whatever yall wanna whine about some shit I didn't say go ahead.

I literally quoted Charlie kirk and you want to go after me. Ok knock yourselves out or just block me
