Yeah im personally doing my best trying to learn Linux for gaming to one day stop using windows but thats as far as Im willing to go. Its one thing if they actually made an effort with their os but it really is too easy to say fuck em.

Games on the other hand are made by all kinds of people who I may agree or disagree with, they could be all right wingers, lefties or even full blown communists. Talent wins in the end and it shows in the output. Same with books or movies. What, all of a sudden I have to burn my American Gods book because Neil Gaiman is an asshole?

Today I've seen so many school and university teachers, mental health professionals, and therapists gloating and celebrating this assassination recording themselves while dancing on tiktok. These are people who interact with children every day. It's awful.

I know part of what makes GAF great is allowing many viewpoints, but I'm seeing some overlap on the venn diagram between celebrating being gunned down at public events and trolling.

What next? Right winger shoots a leftist media personality? What are you gonna say, it was different? At that point we have a new paradigm where the conversation is run through fear of retaliation. We're supposed to be able to exchange views without violence, we want to move closer back to rule of law, and away from rule through intimidation.

This is exactly the kind of unrest that they're trying to kick up to create a pretense for the next steps to clamp down, and you're playing right into their hands. If they weren't in on it, someone gave them a freebie. It's working.

Holy fuck, i miss times when we had devs that were just lazy, those there are literal immoral monsters w/o any human decency left.
I watched charlie kirk quite closely on many ocasions(debates, podcasts, clips), and even tho i wasnt 100% agreeing with his political/worldviews(lets just say being pr0 country near golan heights is not what i apreciate) i can clearly tell he was amazing person, he made so much good in the world, on top he was only 31yo and a husband, father of 1yo and 3yo kid, he will be missed. RIP.

Every side is guilty of this. In the heat of a charged political moment, people say shit they shouldn't. After Pelosi's husband was nearly assassinated, Charlie Kirk asked his audience to bail the suspect out. I don't know how you take that comment without him condoning political violence

Shit is sad all around. I pray the suspect is caught and he is just a nut job with no political motivation, which i doubt. Because political violence will probably just get worse otherwise

What is needed from both sides is ratcheting down calls for violence and instead they need to ratchet up calls for proper discourse.
 
Having different opinions is one thing.
Celebrating the assassination of a person is a different thing entirelly and on a different fucking level. If people can't make the difference then talking about it is worthless, would be better for them to just keep their mouths shut.
These devs should be fired. If thats their position against someone who died because thinks different, then you should be worried to be close to those persons(specially people inside the company). Literally worried.

Reality never mattered when emotionally pointing at possible enemies from the other side.

On topic, one of the very basic things we should all understand when working a job is what you do outside of your job and online can affect you and your workplace, as you are a representative of your company.
So whatever weird thing you're thinking of doing or saying, just don't. There is no benefit to doing so.

I do not believe in the cancel culture thing that is going on in this thread at the moment for one dumb developer, but I do think that that should be consequences for their words.

They spend more time on Twitter moaning and peddling nonsense than working on the games they're paid to create.

This guy was probably a wanker, but he was also a husband with young children. Young children that will have to live with the image of their dad having his neck blown out Infront of them.

The reason these weirdos kick off is out of jealousy. They have fuck all good in their lives, and they can't stand those that do. Maybe they should look at changing their own attitude to become somewhat likable and approachable by normal people. If you have a good group of friends, some pussy and/or cock, you won't be spending all day in Twitter angry at those that are actually contributing to the world.

Don't forget Eastern European devs. I don't see CDPR, Warhorse, 11bit, 4a Games, and Bloober being fools. Also all the indie strategy game devs, the ones under Paradox or Hooded Horse. They aren't AAA but they make great games I play. There are indies everywhere that stay away from all this nonsense.

I will say the words of one person on a team (unless they are a lead) does not dictate that the rest of the dev staff are in some sort of echo chamber and ideologically captured.
Now for Ghosts, I think whoever is in creative lead has taken the studio this direction, which is kind of crazy considering what their past games were like.

That being said, many of the kids coming out of college, especially artists and such, will lean that direction and if reddit is anything to go by, they are delusional and unprofessional, compared to past generations.
