I care much more for tens of thousands of non-combatants being slaughtered and starved than one dude. That said, I'm also highly concerned about political violence in general. Much more than any particular guy being shot.

That doesn't make any sense. It's his personal X. That wouldn't even be legal to do. A company forcing its employees to clear their personal social media account posts with them first? It doesn't belong to them and would be an invasion of privacy among many other legal problems. That is definitely not a thing.

Hard pass. Boycotts are stupid. Frequently. And they also usually punish the wrong person/groups. All around not effective.

I'd also point out how counter-productive it is for the group of people who historically always associate themselves more closely with freedom of speech & civil liberties to call for a boycott because someone said something bad that they don't like.

Situations like this seems like a lot of people tend to forget about the Bill of Rights and why we have it in the first place. 🤷‍♂️

So as far as I'm concerned, I don't agree with how these fucks operate and the fact no one from management has come out and condemned this kind of shit means they get none of my money. Fuck them. I can 100% guarantee you that if ANY of the devs from ANY company even so much as liked a tweet praising Trump they would get fired or there would be a company statement stating the company does not follow the beliefs of each individual... except when someone from the left is making the shit statements. Then it's all cool.

Making controversial political statements on social media when you're part of a game studio, right on the cusp of a game's release for that matter, is such a deeply selfish and autistic thing to do. You're representing the company you work for, and the team of people who crunched and worked passionately on the game. Devs spend years making a game, not knowing if it'll be a success or not. Then you go ahead and you say something on social media that potentially hurts your upcoming game's sales, and puts your studio in a negatively light.

These are remarkably stupid and out of touch human beings, who think they're the main characters of Earth, and they deserve to lose their jobs or receive whatever harassment they're getting online. Fuck em.
