Donkey Kong Bananza |OT| Red Faction Gorilla

Hit the credits. What a blast. Them Nintendo folks sure know how to make a fun video game. Everything after the K.Rool reveal is an insane thrill ride and I loved every second of it.

Played an hour so far, just rescued Rosaline, but I am not hooked yet. Is there a specific event / timeframe that once I hit it and it hasn't hooked me yet, I won't enjoy the rest of the game?

I thought the next proper layer (Canyon Layer) was the first really good level in the game, and it's pretty much bangers from then on.

Just realized after hearing it mentioned in a video that you literally don't have to collect any bananas, or any collectibles for that matter, to progress the game. Nothing is gatekept behind bananas except post game content.

Finally finished the game. I didnt 100%ed the last 3 layers, because i wanted to see the end. Awesome end sequence and the boss wasnt even hard. People said it was a big difficulty spike and shit like what? It just had a bunch of HP, but thats about it. Used the most OP form, elephant and it was piss easy lol

Amazing game overall and it was fucking massive. Didnt expected it to be this packed with content and its not even over after the credits

There's some harder stuff in the post game.

I'd say there was a slight spike at the finale basically, but only because I still had 4 hearts and pretty much needed to not get hit. Once I used my bazillion saved skill points to get some health, I won first try. Im sure you can do it without getting hit though, but meh.

Definitely amazing game regardless of the lack of difficulty. Way more than I expected by FAR.

I'm on the final boss the green one and getting my arse kicked.
Just upgraded the Apple cans and loaded up for another go later today.
Wish me luck! (welp)

Oooh that's when the fun begins!

That's me finished.

+ Very pretty game, a riot of colour
+ Extremely satisfying gameplay mechanics
+ Fun Skills and general gameplay
+ Mega cute, great chemistry
+ Incredible Animation and expressions
+ Smashing endless stuff turns out to be addictive
+ Runs smoothly for the vast majority of the game despite so much shit happening at time, technically impressive.

-Slowdown at he Final Boss, final stage was terrible, barely playable on occasion
- Maybe slightly too long

Not quite as good as Super Mario Odyssey but not far off it.

9.5/10

I hit the credits last night and played some of the end game afterwards. I agree 100% with your spoiler. Holy shit was that some amazing shit to finish the game.

DK Banaza has been added to Nintendo Music, only 9 tracks so far though. But the best Bananza track is here at least:

Just got the Ostrich power and am absolutely hooked. Definitely going to try and 100% this as it's pretty much crack the videogame. I also wouldn't be surprised if part of the design philosophy is to grab kids' short attention span as every 2 mins you're getting rewards lol.

Shame on me for waiting this long to finally play it (coincidentally it's proving to be the perfect palate cleanser for Hell is US in terms of tone and visuals heh).

I recently finished it myself last week. Most fun I've had playing a video game in a long time. I personally enjoyed it much more than Odyssey.

So I finally finished the game. The end was great and a nice surprise. Enjoyed my time with it. Collected most things even tho it's unnecessary.

Finally beat it. Fantastic overall. In the Forbidden Layer where that giant mound of gold was just K. Rool's belly was a nice touch. Also said fat alligator uppercutting Void was pretty tight.
Really enjoyed the final fight. The second phase where Gangplank Galleon starts playing was just

The final section of this game is probably the best I've played in a long time.

Yeah, they really knocked it out of the park with the finale.

I just started up Galaxy 1 yesterday. I loved both 1 and 2 back when they launched. After 3D World, Odyssey and especially Bananza, I now realize how stiff Galaxy Mario used to be. That run and long jump just doesn't feel as great as the last few titles.

It's making me appreciate Bananza's movement all the more. DK is responsive, fast and fluid as eF.

I'm also understanding EPD8's philosophy a little better these days. Scattered moons and Banandium gems, which are largely optional, work better than a single star acting as a flag pole/level ending. That's not to say that linear obstacle courses are obsolete, they are not, they are often brilliant. It's just clearer to me now why we started getting linear 2D/3D stages with 3 special coins or 3 green stars or whatever beyond the single star goal at the end.

I just finished this yesterday, got every single banana and fossil, is the post game to get 777 bananas grindy? I don't have time to grind shit, it took me 4 months to finish.

Not really, there are some rooms like a boss rush that might take a few tries and you need to save up some gold.

There are actually 1000 bananas to get but that reward isn't really worth going for.

Alright, I just wanted to be done by the time Prime 4 releases, I guess I'll just keep going until Dec 4.

Thanks.
