Microsoft revamps Xbox Game Pass plans and hikes Ultimate to $29.99 a month, Ultimate gets Ubisoft+ Classics and more

$30? First they kill xbox now they will kill Gamepass as well.

PC players can buy most titles off key sites for around that amount and "own" their games.

Was nice while it lasted.
Just to correct myself it appears PC game pass is "only" going up to $16.49 and still includes day one games, so not that bad if you like gampass that is.

Lol, lmao even.

Why are you surprised? The original plan was to hope to take over and control gaming. Once this was achieve and the competition destroyed they would be free to raise the price as much as possible.

Fortunately only the gamepass evangelists will be affected with the best deal in gaming getting yet another price hike. $360 a year. They named a console that.

They are slowly realising the way sony are doing ps plus is the only sustainable way of doing subcription models for gaming.

But they can't get rid of day one otherwise it completley kills the main selling point of gamepass.

Obviously sony also has done price rises, but microsoft slowly pushing day one into the most expensive tier is just proving this shit ain't sustainable.

The Costco deal and now this...wtf is going on at Microsoft HQ. What has caused this, lol, it doesn't seem like sound decision making.

We're also welcoming major additions to the Ultimate experience. Starting November 18, Fortnite Crew – an $11.99/month value – will be included in Ultimate, with access to the Fortnite Battle Pass, 1,000 V-Bucks each month, and more.

fuck me son, i should have made the last rewards redemption yesterday, at the lower pricings.

sarah bond is such a shark! very sneaky to do a double days bomb

Wow, I was reading the rumors thinking this was going to be shit and I'm actually surprised at how shit it is!

I had stopped using ultimate and switched to PC Game Pass. I'm not paying $30 a month. Guess we're back to waiting for sales.

RIP Game Pass. We had fun together.

Thank our Lord Gaben for that. If pc gaming is a clusterfuck ms would no doubt go full retard on pc gamepass as well. Only a matter of time though.

Okay that's a bit confusing because other info said that PC Game Pass would be placed at Standard (now Premium) tier. I assumed that meant both pricing AND Day 1, but I guess it's just pricing?

So otherwise, it's still getting Day 1 games like Ultimate, just priced at the new Premium level? Okay then, that actually isn't too bad for PC folks, it's not a disaster-level change there and I guess ~ $5 more a month isn't going to make most of them upset. That version is still easily the best out all the tiers, but also goes to show where MS's priorities for growth are at. Sure as shit isn't their console; they're price-gouging console fans in the ecosystem at this point like crazy.

Wow PC GamePass users are getting hammered by this lol is MS trying to kill GP?

Such a MS move too.

They are getting ready for the next generation that is PC only. The Xbox ROG Ally is the first of the next generation. A generation that will offer more premium hardware that will not be subsidized by Microsoft.

Yeah this is bullshit, fuckin' chancers.
$30 a month for the "proper" gamepass package, just in time for CoD's release and with fuck all else to really show for it with their "Exclusives on day one" promise.
Get bent MS.

lols and then when you go to change/cancel your sub, the website is fucked. Guess I'm not the only one cancelling.

Thats the way I read it as well.

Looks like they ran out of growth on console so raising prices is the only way to achieve it.

PC is still growing so won't get completely fucked just yet.

It's a great service and they added more value for a slight price increase.

Not sure what the issue is.

I'm also excited to play Hades again on GP Essential.

It wasn't enough for them to kill hardware sales on Xbox, they now want to kill GP too. A 50% increase and $360 a year is crazy, and when you stop paying you're left with nothing. What a management disaster.

Seems like it. Leave it up to microsoft to make a flowchart thats actually more confusing than plain text.

This is obviously the stop gap to removing PC game pass entirely. Going from $12 to $30 in one leap was obviously not going to work - I imagine that the price will keep creeping up until it the last price increase is just removing PC game pass.
?? Game Pass PC is 12$ to 16'49$ not 30$. Keeps day one games and adds Ubisoft games. Definitely still much better off than console users in terms of price.

Gamepass Ultimate is 20$ to 30$ with more day one games, Xcloud 1440p, Ubisoft+ and more benefits.

The other two (core and keep same price and yes, it can be said that they have improved)

It can clearly be said that the goal is to compensate for day one releases.

Curious to see their strategy this holiday season and around the launch of the Xbox Ally in October. If there is no great deal for Gamepass in the next few months( or at least making it as before this price hike), I can't see how people will defend this as a logical move outside of the more and more obvious signs of Microsoft getting out of the market.

$30 a month?!?!?! ha!

MS is really just trying to see how stupid their remaining fanbase is. Hike the console prices twice within 6 months, come out with a handheld at $999 that's worse than the other handheld at $999, bring $80 games next year since people wouldn't do it for Outer Worlds 2. Now hike the hell out of GamePass and screw those PC GamePass subs that we use to tout as the fastest growing.
Its a e-suicide of the Xbox brand , i cannot see otherwise.
