all Xbox gamers have wanted since the start of the catastrophic Xbox One generation was a steady supply of great first-party games. Well, in 2025 we're finally getting that – and as I've already mentioned, 2026 is shaping up to be a banger too
They saw that EA was getting bailed out of their debt and switched to private and had no other choice but to take the mask completely off. They really fooled some people in to thinking they were some charitable humanitarian organisation huh?
How impressionable do you need to be?
People really thought the world's 2nd most valuable corporation by market cap became that wealthy and powerful by giving all their products away for freeThey really fooled some people in to thinking they were some charitable humanitarian organisation huh?

AgreedIt's a shame, but honestly, I feel like the big 3 are slipping in general this generation. Microsoft, Sony, AND Nintendo. Some for very different reasons, some for pretty similar reasons. It's just unfortunate. I feel like the only thing that's stayed the same is PC, and I'm thankful for that.
I might be the only one who likes windows 11 for work. The added split functionality has honestly been very helpful for my work. Also, helps that I have not been facing similar issues as you and the issues I do face have been there since windows 10.Aand not just with consoles. Windows 11 is the biggest pos OS I've used since original Windows ME. I have a daily log of issues on my work or personal computer where something broke for no reason and fixes itself for no reason. Today, I made a folder on my desktop and I couldn't see it. I had to open file explorer and load my desktop to view it. Yesterday, snip wouldn't work. It wouldn't let me actually use the snip feature to copy the image over. Every single day.
For real. Media people really wanted consumers to believe Microsoft is the Rudy of gaming. They really fooled some people in to thinking they were some charitable humanitarian organisation huh?

IGN Senior Executive Editor and Unlocked podcast host Ryan McCaffrey reacts to Microsoft's recent price increases on consoles, software, and Xbox Game Pass and how they fly in the face of the player-first decisions that Xbox had continually made since Phil Spencer took over the Xbox business.
Depends on the size of the checkThey really fooled some people in to thinking they were some charitable humanitarian organisation huh?

You don't remember the GOTY contenders such as Avowed or Doom Dark Ages ?
Sadly, I feel your right. We've been seeing for years posts about how many have been dipping game pass and points making more or less an essential circle of getting the service for at times 10$ or less. Everyone crowed about how they were getting by pulling a fast one and wondering how the company was making profits and yet bitching when they weren't investing enough in first party titles. It's pretty rich to call it "greed".
They were offering access to games at unsustainable prices. The media cheered it on, alongside the 80+ billion dollar spending spree that was supposed to undercut and subsume the core games market alongside Gamepass. Xbox fanboys bragged about how much money they were saving.
Yeah, MS is greedy, but this is less an effect of that, and more the rubber meeting the road of financial reality.
Every person who laid this future out in the ABK mega-thread is vindicated. They really fooled some people in to thinking they were some charitable humanitarian organisation huh?

If you listen to most IGN podcasts, you'll notice most of them even Destin are cheap, they don't pay the full price, even Metal Gear Solid V for $5 will slip out of their mouths.Ryan McCaffrey was in rage mode while typing this article.
I feel the energy here is driven mostly by publishers wanting consumers to buy full price instead of having a middle man screwing with their profits. It's not subtle at all. It's a shame, but honestly, I feel like the big 3 are slipping in general this generation. Microsoft, Sony, AND Nintendo. Some for very different reasons, some for pretty similar reasons. It's just unfortunate. I feel like the only thing that's stayed the same is PC, and I'm thankful for that.
Microsoft is definitely dumb, but let's be real this entire generation for every platform could be remembered for this.
What is it with this shit with some posters?ALL of them are more expensive than they've been before, and offer less value for the money you're spending if you buy hardware or big games day one.
The only way around the increased cost is playing AA, indie or older games marked dow"n.
Well if MS decide to close down the whole division some of these developers might actually be snatched up by publishers with better track records, rare back at Nintendo?!What a legacy; pissed away Rare, Bungie, etc.
How?This is not exclusive to Xbox. This can also be observed at Nintendo and Playstation as well. This whole console generation is just one big clusterfuck.
Are you one of those people who go back to an ex, forgetting why they became an ex in the first place?I'm so ready for a SEGA comeback now!

What is exclusive to Xbox though is that people are angry that they will probably start buying Xbox games again, and that's where the majority of the backlash is coming from. This is not exclusive to Xbox.
It's crazy to me to be honest. What is it with this shit with some posters?
The thread isn't about "the entire generation for every platform" it's about the xbox this generation.
Deflect, deflect, deflect.
Sorry to break it to you Ryan (and everyone else dumb enough to drink that coolaid)
MS never stopped being MS. Not even for a second.
Every single company out there is in it to make money. No secret there, the difference between everyone else and a few companies like MS (and Nvidia), is that they have shown, time and time again, that they are willing to make that money at the expense of everyone else. Disturbingly, including their customers. They have always shown that they do not just want to do well, they need everyone else to fail... even if that means their customers suffer for it. Even if that means the very industry they are in suffers for it.
This has ALWAYS been MS, right back to the conception of Windows. We are just in an age of short-term memory, fish-brained dumb fucks that somehow lack the foresight to see it.
I've been saying this for years... that the single worst thing that can happen to gaming is that MS gets its way. You all look at what they are doing, even when not getting their way...
No no, this is all exclusively targeting Microsoft, it would be interesting to find out who Ryan McCaffrey, his editors, and Ziff Davis has been chatting to. I'm sure Microsoft is wondering the same.Xbox is not the only to blame
Yeah. "Everybody Too" is so tired. It's amazing how some people want the industry to burn, just because the Xbox platform is a disaster now. What is it with this shit with some posters?

Ok... so who else should we blame for Xbox's current demise?Xbox is not the only to blame
To them, Xbox is not doing bad, the industry has just failed, and everything is bad. At some point... before this new hike... some would even say MS was trying to save gaming.Yeah. "Everybody Too" is so tired. It's amazing how some people want the industry to burn, just because the Xbox platform is a disaster now.
