This is the answer. It throws the whole thread conversation off with other posters as well, especially if the person you are ignoring is fairly active in that particular thread…which Giga was, on every single Nintendo thread.

I do that too. I have only had one person I considered it for but realized it was as much me engaging as it was them so I would have had to ignore myself.

On the topic of blocking users I think it's pretty weak. I don't have a single one on my blocklist. Shitposters are part of the forum experience and if they go overboard then the mods just ban them. Problem solved. They just add a bit of spice in my opinion and it's easy enough to scroll past their texts if you don't care about it.
