Fallout 4 broke me as a gamer in relation to getting brand new games. Rather try out older, proven bangers. Never listen to what the industry is trying to hype up anymore. And with how disingenuous many reviewers/outlets are, the truth about the quality of a game don't come to light until several months has past.
Fuck that noise, goodwill well and truly spent.
But apart from saving a metric ton of money, I've also had some of the best years of my gaming life both discovering amazing oldies, working on my backlog and messing around with emulation/retro handhelds.
The backlog and list of games I'm waiting to reach a comfortable price point are usually to damn big to replay many titles. But I do have Darkest Dungeon, The Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire permanently installed for when I just want a quick and sweet session
