Ah yes, quipping about personal trauma will get the Strong Female Character to join your crew!

The actual grammer is terrible. Why didn't they proofread this? Maybe we do need A.I. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Hell you are right. "That don't make me wayward", shouldn't that be "that doesn't make me wayward"? I'm an ESL, might be wrong but that caught my attention.

I thought that was an asian dude.
Design is all over the place with black nail polish, one arm bigger then the other with the other being a surgical disaster like they popped steroids and had the opposite effect resulting in a malnourished veined out arm that looks painful to move. Like it contracted some disease.

One arm has seemingly no metal circular implants and the other does giving the character a lack of symmetry.

We move on to that ugly androgynous main body that makes you wonder what it even is at a glance coupled with lots of eyeshadow and what may as well be painted on eyebrows with a complete absence of any cosmetics on the mouth, phat nose.

Just looks wrong to me.

Though personally all the character designs are unappealing to me nor do they seem interesting.

It's intentional, Old West cowboy dialect mixed in because they're out in some provincial gunslinger world, even though her voice actress line reads like an asian woman from present day California.

That looks...pretty outdated.

Yeah the graphics look pretty dated. But honestly the art direction is the real problem.
I don't really like the look of anything in that video, from the scenery, to the colors, the way weapons looks, the character designs, buildings, etc.
I think you could make a way more appealing looking game with the exact same quality of graphics by just having better art direction

Hopefully it at least runs well. With those graphics I'd expect 1440p at 60fps on Ps5/SX. It's UE5 though, so I guess we'll be lucky if it hits 1080p

Doesn't look great. Just ok, like Avowed. Im sure i will end up playing it down the line, due to a cheap sale. They are not a developer that swings for the fences. Just productive in field hits consistently shipping games in a reasonable amount of times and not breaking the budget.

I think the art director was just busy with replacing his old crusty white colleagues with black guys....so he can live in the woods. Pls have some understanding.

Obsidian is lost. At this point they might aswell become a Grounded factory, as their writing skills is a better fit for games with kids as protaganists these days.

What's Josh Sawyer up to these days? He's still at Obsidian as far as I can tell, such a waste of talent.

After watching that, I'm not sure I'm going to waste my bandwidth downloading it.

I liked Avowed a lot but I think the high fantasy setting did a lot of the heavy lifting there. I can't say anything about this makes me want to play it.

Yeah, I know some cowboys, and that ain't how they talk. They don't say stuff like, "That don't make me wayward" or "If this contract weren't staying in my hand, I reckon you'd be answering to it right now." That's a young writer from California trying to do an impression of what she thinks people from the south talk like. Try again, sweetheart. :messenger_smirking:

Writing and story seem more cringey to me than the last game, but the core gameplay seems improved in various places. Still wait and see for me.

Sometimes I just feel like Obsidian should just stick with isometric games, where production values would be less of a pain for them to make, and their games could be more reactive. Avowed feeling so static put me off the game, along with its art direction.

The first game was so bad I still have PTSD. I'm not sure why I bothered finishing it.

This was the only part that made me laugh and I can't even explain why

I also can't even explain why I disliked the game so much. No one individual part is even that horrendous. But when it all comes together, it's just a chore to play.

Well remember, they did say they are aiming for "mild success", aka "Good Enough for GamePass".
I actually used to love Gamepass, but this is actually its biggest failing. It lets lazy ass developers shoot for mediocre because they know daddy Microsoft will just put their game on the GP and call it a day. If the developers at Obsidian actually still had to work for their livelihood they'd make better games, and striving to be mid would be seen as a negative trait to have.

Modern writing is so damn cringe. Put that shit right next to something properly written like KCD2 and it's even sadder.
Outer Worlds 1 literally had one party member (Parvati) whose companion quest was about how she's an asexual lesbian and she's worried about asking her crush on a date, because the crush might not be cool with dating an asexual. You have to convince her to ask the crush out, and help her prepare for the date.

Then they finally have the date and
everything goes perfectly fine. The crush is OK with dating an asexual, and they plan to have another date.

Maybe she was the inspiration for Taash in Dragon Age Veilguard.

Just. Nah. This isn't obsidian. This is someone wearing the corpse of obsidian.

I'll take a pass ((and nothing to do with this scene… scenes need context.). After outer worlds, I'm just not interested.

It's toothless dribble.

When people say "Gamepass game" this is what they mean. Looks like shit in every way possible.
I have Game Pass, but this will have to get some pretty good impressions to get me to download it. I played through the first and the last thing i wanted after was more of it. Doubly so after playing Starfield, which was basically the same thing over again.

I didn't download Avowed or Dragon Age 4 either. Life is too short.
