I can't believe it's the same team that developed New Vegas. Maybe in name only.but hey, this is the fucking team ya'll saying should do the next Fallout huh?
Keep them fucking away from that IP....

Same people who thought up Avoweds characters.Who the hell thought of these uninspired characters? And who picked that awful music? It actually annoys me.
Man, I enjoyed the first game too. This is just garbage looking. Gameplay looked uninspired too.
Leave this with me. There is a comedy answer for ten points that just escapes me.What's the word for the exact opposite of sexualization?
He works on developing his characters. These narcissistic devs need to understand that only Neil Druckmann can get away with stuff like this and even him is not untouchable.
Which could be really cool if it was. It's like a parody at this point.
I can after playing avowedI can't believe they went full retard after what happened with Concord and Veilguard.
I thought cuckcord, failguard, and avoided are harsh lesson, seems they didn't learn at all.
This game is rated mature.I can't believe they went full retard after what happened with Concord and Veilguard.
This game is rated mature.
Despite that, I think they try to target like under 16 crowds with specific designed dialogue and characters (probably closer to like 13 in this game's case) the lack of "gooner support" is to not trip up parents who would rip the publisher to shreds - see Collective Shout rampage as an example) but include swearing, gore and violence to try and cast a potentially wider net to include mature audiences too.
Basically it's a problem of Gamepass, they are mandated that these games appeal to everyone but these devs are under NDA so they can't spell it out to us mooks in the peanut gallery (probably not to cause a shitstorm for the publisher which would blacklist your ass as a dev). That's my theory anyway, I don't think it's really political, it's fucking stupid, they're trying to have their cake and eat it too, but I don't think it's a left right thing, it's just broadcasted indirectly from publishers as being political (games media PR etc) to cover this strategy.
Truth is, the ratings boards should be calling this bullshit out, the dialogue and characters are clearly intentionally made to appeal to younger audiences way below the ratings the agencies gives them. If all this is true then it's really not ethical at all, and we all know game publishers are the most ethical angels in the world.
If games weren't so expensive to make it would be like the old days where an M rated game targeted an M rated audience, but these days most of these devs are forced into shady catchall exploits.
Edit: on second thought, it's not on the ratings boards, maybe if they added a warning that the game targets minors that would dramatically change things, but I don't know if that would end up being a good or bad thing for consumers, maybe that direction causes way less bigger budget games to be made.
Maybe you guys as consumers will just have to suck it up, tolerate the writing and character design to keep the hobby going.
If you're talking about who I think you're talking about--me, too lmaoI'm just here to see what finally got our resident gaslighter and gotcha king banned. Couldn't give a fuck less about this game lulz
Nope.A question to native English speakers: you guys managed to read that shit text before each companion? Because I think there is no way.
Hard to believe this is from the same folks who brought Pillars of Eternity.
You should ask Sega instead as they hold all of the rights for this gameAnd Alpha fuckin Protocol
I want a remake of THAT
YO NIGHTDIVE
Gaf waiting for Outer Worlds 2 to come out.Shit.
I didn't play Avowed because Dunkey made fun of it on YouTube, yes, I'm that shallow and stupid. I still laugh at Borderland's writing. Outer Worlds 1 looked great I just didn't have time for such a long game at the time. I'm going to give this game a shot. Can't allow any external influence to cause actual good games to fail, that attitude will just end up making games worse for everyone.
Threads and videos poking fun at these games for whatever socio-political culture war bullshit are legitimately engaging and hilarious, but I think they should all be taken with a tiny grain of salt, make up your own mind by getting hands on with the actual games.
I feel legitimately terrible for the team behind Concord, that was a watershed moment of shitposting gone way too far, we're all older now, we're better at communicating and some of us now have black belts in trolling, we collectively need to be more responsible (as well as devs and marketers), the best you as devs and marketers can do is to not lean into visuals and themes that will fuel negative-outcome shitposting, it doesn't really bother me, I'm so over that shit, but I know it could set off others who have ascended to even higher enlightenment in the art of trolling and shitposting, it matters that you all take care of details because negative consequences related to this stupid shit sucks and is unnecessary.
Seems like common sense to me.but I think they should all be taken with a tiny grain of salt, make up your own mind by getting hands on with the actual games.
Sure, but a good sense of humour is just irresistible and in this space it's all-powerful, it tends to cascade a little bit when you invite it with entertaining outrage, it cascades wildly when unfunny professionals (marketing/dev/executive etc) try to respond to it or deal with it, and in the "wrong" hands it's instant death for practically any video game and probably their studio. I think in terms of video game marketing that's probably the most important lesson to take away from the past few years, the best way to not be laughed at is simply to not provide a reason, it's so easy to avoid.Seems like common sense to me.
Shit.

For you, because you understand games and gamers. Corporats don't know anything about that, as most of AAA devs nowadays. They make games for fancy audiences, not people.the best way to not be laughed at is simply to not provide a reason, it's so easy to avoid.
Totally agree, probably many out there feel the way you do, I often feel that way too, it gets properly lethal to these companies when all of us combine into studio-killer Voltron, which is part of the whole cascade effect I was talking about, I'm not entirely sure how it triggers and how it develops, but it does, and it's important on their side (the devs/marketers etc) to not build in triggers (Yes, I said triggered, ffs) because it's a million times worse financially to catch the ire of groups of internet funny people than unfunny internet dweebs (reeeee website, reddit etc), the funny guys control all the zoomer normies too, not the marketers or the unfunny dweebs, you'll never replicate this Voltron shit with AI, it's entirely organic and completely novel every time, you can't control it which is exactly why it's so dangerous to these companies.I don't feel bad for the team behind Concord. It was a given that that their ideas weren't going to resonate. They were given ample warning too in terms of reactions before the game released. They went full speed ahead because their vision and message were more important than the customers they expected to buy the game. That kind of thinking has consequences and more and more devs/publishers are finding that out.
As well, making up my own mind about video games has to do with pattern recognition and being choosy about what I want to support. It's a little deeper than "trolling" for most us. Good on you for committing to giving OW2 a shot, but the assumption that "external influence" is the main or only reason behind the negative reaction is quite a reach.
Looking good!

Yeah, the unfunny dweebs can bully marketers for sure, but we just saw the boys take down $400 000 000 like it was a fucking joke, I hope the industry is paying attention. There were loads of unseen sad tweets from people who worked on that game, between all the laughter, it was really fucking sad to those who noticed, shit is still funny in ways but I'd rather not see something like that happen again. If we could kill studios, then companies like Ubisoft would already be dead. Again, the assumption that people just parrot talking points they hear from someone else is an often used defence in situations like this. I disagree with this, seeing it more as people gravitate towards those who share their views and opinions.
We can already see that certain companies are just not listening. The character design in OW was widely mocked and that had no impact on how Obsidian chose to design the companions for the sequel. That's their choice, but there is a consequence for ignoring criticism. That's what this is underneath the memes and jokes. Many people don't like the way the characters look or their dialogue that we've seen so far and they're making that very clear.
Btw, you mentioned Ree. Did you know that they managed to get Atlus to change Persona 5 Royal from the original game? There was an interaction between two gay men and one of the main characters which was deemed offensive. So, it was changed for Persona 5 Royal. Ree has wielded quite a bit more influence than appropriate and there's still many devs who post there.
Same, feels weird.but I can't shake how sterile it all feels
It's humor, you don't have to.The millennial chipper doomerism is so omnipresent that I can't take anything happening seriously.
