Arc Raiders will have one, last open-to-all test - the 'server slam' (Oct 17th - 19th)

I do like the extraction shooter idea, however I've only found it works in PvE for me. Knowing that there is a good chance you're completely wasting your time does nothing for me.

I got hooked on MWZ in MWIII for a while because you could always extract if you planned accordingly. You also had the option to gamble by leaving later and doing end game stuff.

So basically I'll give it a try again if a PvE mode comes along. PvP just feels like streamer content more than anything.

Extraction shooters without PVP? You can't really classify HD2 as an extraction shooter and I can't really think of any others.

Lots of matches with nothing happening, just looting and extracting without much of a fuss. They should make the extraction aspect more unpredictable to keep the tension up at all times.

I'm actually happy when there is someone camping the extraction spot, at least there is something exciting happening. Doesn't happen often though.

The avatar presets available in this test are terrible. I'm guessing they're not the full roster, right? In the scheme of things it's only a minor issue, but semi out of principle I'm pretty sick of seeing a smorgasbord of androgynous freaks to choose from in some of the games I might play.

Huh so why did you try the game?

Also lol at crying about extraction campers???

Just wait a bit longer or just keep an eye on the extract yourself, calling the elevator makes so much noise. After someones gone in you can just go youreelf.
1. To see what it is - it's free isn't it?
2. Wtf are you on about? Where did I mention it even refer to extraction campers?
3. Learn grammar and how to spell

Road to Vostok is your title. Made by one guy. Zero plans for online play. Tarkov aesthetics. Madman determination to make every tiny little aspect perfect. Oh and it's free and available on Steam right now. Tension reaches survival horror levels.

Hard run for my GOTY next year when the "official" release happens. ONE GUY

Interesting, I'll check it out.

It's not like I'm allergic to online multiplayer, racked up 30 hours in BF6 already. It's just players will use whatever cheese is available to fuck you over. I don't know how people play Tarkov with all the cheaters.

I enjoy the game the only thing I'm worried about is the variety in guns to keep people interested after a few months. The extraction camping is sadly common on games like this and unfortunately no developers have been able to deal with it effectively.
Extraction camping is a feature, not a bug. In the final 20 minutes of a horror movie, the monster usually kills a lot of the remaining characters. It's the match climax.

Embark nerfed the hatch keys from TT2 because they found too many players were exiting the game safely without the designed tension.

I'm extremely impressed with this game. The overall vibe is very unique, runs like a dream on a mid-range rig, and has gameplay that genuinely fits with the vibe it presents.

That said, I would rather it be primarily PvE with optional PvP, like The Division.

But, as it is, it's like a cross between The Division and CoD DMZ, and I think I can live with that.

It's gonna be a long two-week wait.

Dont forget you can talk to randoms too so you can ask them not to kill you or work together

I'm kind of surprised that so many people are running around just looting with not much else happening in between. The first 4 or 5 matches I've played seemed like there were more players in the game since the last beta because I keep running into groups within a minute or 2 of spawning in. Every building seems like there are people in it, whereas in the previous tech test it seemed much more lax and you could loot a building or 2 before running into someone. Guess it's just my experience though

I didn't have my first PvP firefight until my 4th run. They were around, for sure, but I avoided them. :)

Yeah just I watched Summit1G pull an all-nighter (in fact, i think he's still on) in this game, he's been constantly being third partied around every fucking corner to the point of frustration. Lot's of camping, at spawn and extraction points, as well.

Not a game I'd be interested in playing. But funnily enough I think it's interesting to watch it being streamed.

It's actually an easy fix.

Make it so if your at an extraction area without some kind of gas mask then gas will kill you.

You can only get one gas mask per run, and it only lasts a set amount of time. This means you only use it when ready to leave. Or if you camp your risk is very high, and if you don't get anyone in that small window then too bad you lose your entire run.

We are on the eve of an industry altering game. We will remember the launch of ARC Raiders in the way we remember Mario 64.

See you on the other side, Raiders.
They didn't have sense enough to use male and female for the character creator instead of Type A and B. Emblematic of susceptibility to groupthink and trend-chasing. I will now question every design decision they've made.

Wish Marathon was dropping near this just for the content. I'm not going to play it unless they add PvE, but I ran around enough in the playtest to know this is the next big thing in gaming. Sound design is as good as it gets. Graphical tech target is fucking chef's kiss. This should shame every other big dev, because this game looks and runs amazing. There's no need to go for a higher tech target than this for 90% of games.

Not played this weekend yet. They nefed keys? Probably for the best i had loads in TT2

Tried like 10 matches, boring as fuck and with the most dull, mundane robot enemy design i saw in a while, way too much dead times and uninteresting look.

Gonna give another 4-5 tries before unistalling.

Shooting against the robots feel nice at least and the audio design is great.

It's one of the biggest change I've noticed since TT2.
- ARCs are MUCH stronger than before. Before they were slight annoyances (at least the Wasps and Hornets)
- Raider Hatch Keys are much rarer than before. I've only found one out of like two dozen matches and before I would find one almost every other match.

I like this. Played three hours with my Hunt teammates and it just feels really solid in terms of movement, gunplay and all. Also really like the art design. It's nothing earth shattering yet but it's very solid.

It's just a server stress test, there isn't as much enemy variety as in the last beta. There are more (and bigger) robots in the full game. Right now it's only getting challenging when there's two or more drones fighting you.

I'm really, really enjoying this, so much that I went out and bought a pulse elite headset for my PS5 to use the proximity chat.
My pre-order will definitely stay in place.
It's also gotten me excited for Marathon as Arc is my first extraction experience and it's very addictive.

For what it's worth, both Gray Zone Warfare and Escape from Tarkov have dedicated PvP and PvE modes (with optional co-op), both of which I very much enjoy playing.
I especially enjoy GZW since it's a great tactical shooter experience in addition to its extraction mechanics. I usually never play either game with PvP enabled btw.

I would hate to offend someone with male and female options. I wonder when type a and b will migrate to irl things like job applications and whatnot?

It's wild that in an entire game experience that can be criticized, something as small as some text is what is mentioned over anything else, lol.

I've gotten some time in now. I'm not feeling the pull like I expected. It's a beta, of course, but the loop isn't hooking me. I think it's the loot aspect. I don't care to manage piles of trash items to make other items that make other items. It feels sloppy to play. Audio is somehow incredible and terrible at the same time. On PS5 it looks like someone chewed up rice and spit it onto the screen. UE5 strikes again?

It's symptomatic and I will call it out whenever I see it.

I had more to say about the game, you were just impatient.
