Also the onboarding is one of the most well done intros where it lets the player decides to go stealth or guns blazing with the tutorial being situational.

It's not as wacky as the first one but actually more grim the more you read the lore.

The flaws are better in this game and i actually chose 3-4.
My only gripe is some of the combat situations can be unfair

I'm confused by the scores tbh. Lots of praises then they slap a 7 or 8 on it. Which is kinda low considering how inflated scores are these days.

Mortismal, who is known for his rpg centric channel liked Veilguard....At least Matty disliked Avowed. That's a positive in my book.

I always suspected that.

He just seems to push out 100% reviews way too quickly. I mean, I guess you could do it if it was your only job and you were investing 8+ hours a day into it but I think most people would burn out after awhile.
 
Where's all the Obsidian praise? 3 games in 1 year! I suppose because Microsoft studio's are so badly run it doesn't count right? I thought Insomniac had an amazing run but this is crazy productivity.

No question it is impressive to release 3 games like they did and they are nowhere close to bethesda sized either

People would be more open for praises if the games were actually great i guess.

Avowed didn't exaclty lit the world on fire, kinda the opposite, grounded 2 look like a super iterative, safe sequel of an already decent game at best (yes i played it) and this one has been looked like the cringest shit ever in every trailer they showed and it's hard to believe modern media when the first game scored so high when it was barely a 6.

Context is important.

Not that I watch every video but he has said on multiple occasions it is his job and he does play games that much

He's 100% using one of those steam achievement programs, his reviews are generic as they come.

The thing that did him in was wartales becuase the game was bugged at the point of his "review" and it was impossible to get 3 of the achievements until months later when they patched the game, but at the point of his...

Nope, I'm not falling for this. Obsidian makes mediocre games, likely due to budget constraints and a probable lack of creative minds. I'm not giving them another chance in the near future.
 
Is there anything in this game like Parvati's companion quest in the first game? Where you had to help her accept her identity as an asexual lesbian and give her the courage to ask her crush on a date?
 
Very not interested.

I'm entirely, 100% over snark as a style of entertainment. Borderlands, Marvel, Outer Worlds, nearly every insurance commercial, most comedians. Snark is the most awful communication affliction of the 21st century. It didn't use to be this way, it's doesn't have to be this way.

Certainly not. They've always been the scrappy underdog. Their older games spoke to me whereas their newer stuff not so much.

Fallout: New Vegas was, is, and always will be a masterpiece. The reason it received lower scores was because of technical issues and poor optimization. It was developed in just 18 months (!) by a team with little to no familiarity with Bethesda's engine.

Alpha Protocol was also notoriously buggy, completely game-breaking buggy.

Yep it seems it's an improvement over the firsth one but there are a lot of better RPGs around.

Obsidian is about 300 developers and have managed 2 80 plus rated games on Metacritic and a super polished early access game in one year but because it's not "great" it's basically who cares?

This whole generation has been Studios struggling to put out one new game and you talk about context 😂 Just out of curiosity what truly great games have come out this generation IYO?

I cant remember a single thing from the first game (characters, story...nothing)....must be the most "whatever" game I have ever played. 🤷‍♂️

lol definitely. I started watching a recap of OW1 yesterday and I seriously didn't remember ANY of it, neither the story or the gameplay mechanics.

Only parts I remember are Parvati's quest (because of how ridiculous and out of place it was, and because of how some folks gushed about how amazing she was), and 1 side quest about some corrupt old folks home where they were secretly euthanizing them.

Got a timed ban (I think it was a week) on GAF, immediately went on Icon and started bitching about GAF admin in open topics. Someone pointed it out here and that made his ban to be turned into a perm.
