Seems like most third-party developers will not support Switch 2

So?? Where is the goalpost moving or lies??? :pie_thinking:

Because title of OP isn't a legal document, it's conversationally suggesting Switch 2 might not get support from the main third parties we are used to seeing, and hip indies.

Intent of OP was not to suggest Switch 2 may not get literally a majority of all third party in existence, including the massive number of devs on steam that put out a game that doesn't make a profit. Which is a staggering number.

Everyone knows this, unless you have to move the goalpost in desperation.

If you are so sure of that, good for you.

At least I can say the intent in MY post about the majority was literally about all, because why not, it's simple logic.

...from third parties on SW2, oh wait...

Switch 2 could have all the major third parties, and it would be technically factually true to say it has "a fraction of a percent of all developers".

It would be disingenuous to do so, because we assume OP is referring to third parties that matter, on the basis that no one would waste your time with a meaningless prediction like "console will not get majority of infinite one man shows flooding Steam", yeah we already know that.

In this scenario it would make sense to say that PlayStation 5 doesn't have a majority of third party support -conversationally ludicrous and only technically true when counting outfits no one cares about, with no valuable point but to litigate it.

Sure, sure. Whatever fits your argument.

Can I ask you what the point would be of listing developers or even asking the question if it was literally ALL developers? Don't we already know the answer to that question is no for any plaform if you are counting app store and steam bros that only sell a few copies but count towards the total technical number?

The only point I can see would be to fail to mention that, so people conflate the metric with the implied one.

Honestly I don't want to keep giving you opportunities to make yourself look this bad so I'm out

Its missing Magic pussy 3, which is what rodrigolfp really needs for a complete library.

They were asking about the original Switch.

  2. Stardew Valley: 7.9 million units (as of December 29, 2024).
  3. Suika Game: 7.4 million units (as of April 11, 2024).
  4. Minecraft: 6.19 million units (as of March 16, 2025).
  5. Among Us: 3.2 million units (as of December 2020).
  6. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope: 3 million units (by January 15, 2024).
  7. Xenoblade Chronicles 2: 2.70 million copies.
  8. Dragon Ball FighterZ: 2.43 million units.

  10. Diablo III: Eternal Collection: 1.5 million units (as of February 2024).
(AI generated list)
It´s quite dificult to come up with data, apparently. But considering the total number of sold consoles, I would argue that some people picked up a third party game here and there.
Can only talk for myself, but most of my library are non-Nintendo games.

Third parties doesn't really disclose the split by platform usually, except for Capcom.

So he should be more specific since the first the post.
The first post was very specific that this was a reaction to Summer Games Fest and the State of Play.

The trouble with AI is that it's just grabbing things from a Wikipedia page. Overall in terms of units, total third party sales on Switch were higher than first party sales (except in the early Switch years when third party support was awful).
