Trade would be:

8 inch 1080p LCD VRR 120hz panel

for

7 inch 720p OLED 60hz panel with super sampling.

In some ways this makes a lot of sense for me. Known technology that Nintendo has used. It's gimped, however the Lite is supposed to be the 'noob' console.

No, the thing I like about Switch is have the option play games on my TV or on handheld mode, why would I want a system that takes option away from me?

I'd rather have an 8 inch screen than a smaller 7 inch OLED.

And this is coming from someone that has 3 OLED TVs in the house, owned a Switch OLED and a Steam Deck OLED. I absolutely adore the technology.

But 8" really is the sweet spot for portable gaming screens.

I doubt they would put OLED in the Lite model.

BEcuase one of the main points if not the main point of it is to offer cheaper pricepoint.

If it can dock and has better battery life, then yes, absolutely. I would prefer a smaller handheld than Switch 2 and I almost never use the joycons. It has to dock though, I would never buy a Switch that couldn't dock.

As somebody that rarely played their Switch handheld and will rarely play my Switch 2 handheld the answer is no unless it can be docked.

Allow me to dock? Absolutely and I'll give my Switch 2 to my girl.

No dock? I'll stick to what I have.

I want a Switch 2 Lite, but not with that screen downgrade.
With how mediocre in every way the Switch 2 screen is I don't even know if it's a downgrade for me.

Especially since almost every game I play/would play doesn't really benefit from 120hz or VRR and combined with VRR not being available in docked mode where I play 90% I wouldn't loose much.

hououinkyouma00 hououinkyouma00 I would take the screen resolution over more vibrant colors personally.
It's not just vibrant colors though. It's response time, input lag, and deep blacks all of which the Switch 2 screen doesn't hold a candle to.

It's the same way with Steam Deck versus ROG Ally or any of the other pc handhelds. I'll take my Steam Deck OLEDs 800p screen over any of the others every day.

Just curious but have you ever used an OLED?

I haven't.

I haven't.
OLED is really one of those things that i think people really don't understand until they use them and not on a phone (most modern smartphones have OLED displays but IMO it's not the same and I've never really understood why to be honest).

When every single pixel can turn completely off you get a picture that has essentially infinite contrast. Then you combine that with the better colors and on modern OLEDs you get the good brightness as well.

Input lag and response times are also extremely low. For example OLED tvs have lower input lag then most gaming monitors.

So you get the best picture with near instant response times and extremely low input lag.

The only downsides to OLED can be brightness (which isn't a problem in comparison to anything but Mini LED/Micro LED as the vast majority of OLEDs are just as bright as the vast majority of monitors and TVs and most modern OLEDs and burn in but modern OLED has eliminated burn in to the point where it's not an issue for 99% of users.

Switch Lite 2 will surely be a thing, people crave for handhelds.
And OLED panels are much cheaper now, even cheap chinese Android handhelds have them: the Retroid Pocket 5 and Retroid Flip 2 have a 5.5 inches 1080p 60hz display and the Ayn Odin 3 have a 6 inches 1080p one.

For me, I would trade me NS2 for a NS2 Lite OLED undoubtely

The Lite is still so nice and legit a handheld basically a HD Gameboy. + the Flip case they made for the thing was slick. You could drop the thing into your pocket or bag and not worry about the sticks getting recked other than the natural drift issues :P

The switch 2 is an amazing console but honestly the screen is just a tad too big for a handheld for me.

I want a switch 2 lite the size of the og switch (but still dockable)

Switch 2 Lite wont work COS IT WILL LOSE THE MOUSE CONTROLS

The Switch 1 Lite had games you couldn't play because you couldn't detach the joycons. You'd have to wirelessly connect a controller for that game or function. What's the difference?

Anyway, I'd take a Switch 2 (or Switch 1) lite that still connected to the TV without a performance penalty. It's large and not very portable, so I think that would be the best Switch.

Why would they make a Switch 2 "lite" that only has a 1-inch smaller screen?

If they're going to make a lite model, it should be 5 something inches at most. That way it can actually be pocket-able, which is the only value-add to the device besides fitting small child hands.

Yes..it would be worth it (the first one was)

Screen res would stay the same as performance would also stay the same.

And I still would want video out capability over USB C.

What if you could pay $100 extra now to play the games the mythical Lite OLED wouldn't be able to play for at least another 2 years …would you?

No, but that's only because I'm not interested in the 'Lite' version. When/if they make a regular Switch 2 OLED model I'll be there day 1.

No, because my main reason for not caring about the Switch 2 isn't the hardware. It's the fact there's only a small handful of games I'm willing to pay $70-80 for, and Nintendo doesn't make most of them nor do they give me the option to wait for sales"

well to me i think Nintendo will keep the NSW lite version selling and discontinue the OG/OLED after 2027. It will becoming the entry point to Nintendo Switch ecosystem.
They might even cut the price and bundle with a game for $200.
Believe me either OG model or OLED model with be discontinued before and new NSW2 model will be announced
