New 'Triton' Steam controller Icon datamined.

Never heard of steam deck being uncomfortable

They're angled as the hands approach, seems fine.
It's not the same layout though. The sticks are in a different spot and people already complain that they hit their thumbs on PlayStation controllers let alone these sticks that look barely over an inch away from each other.

We already have steam deck that we play docked on the tv, we need an official controller
I don't think they're going through the trouble of making a new controller for the 1% of Steam Deck users who dock their system

Give me a better VR set with native Linux support already

Yes, Consoles are meant to be connected to TVs. And yes, they're also multimedia devices.

So not only will the Steambox console not have FortNite, but it won't have Netflix either.... Brilliant. 30 million sales right?
This guy does not understand what a PC as a console can do. Neither does he understand what a media server is. The PS5 is very limited in capabilities compared to a full Linux machine. You probably don't know what mpv and Shoko are either.

Netflix and other streaming services all require a device to be certified before they create any apps for it, they have to be protected by DRM. I wasn't talking about your pirated movie collection.

Also, since it's a PC as a Console, can it run FortNite and Battlefield 6? I won't mention GTA6.

I only deal with transparent encodes of physical media from private trackers. The collection I have is vastly superior to a streaming service like Netflix. You clearly don't understand the concepts of indexing services like Shoko, mpv configs and media servers.

Why do you Microsoft fans always talk about Gaas? I don't play those games. Most of the games I play are single player games, especially I prefer GOG releases and console physical releases (not Xbox).

PS5 will be the best place to play GTA 6 until the PS6 and PC release. I was not praising the Steam console for its ability to play games, but for its media server capabilities because it can run Linux.

So are you made up of 30 million people? That you will overlay your preferences of non GAAS games over the potential 30 million userbase you think a Steambox could achieve?

FortNite is the most popular game on all Consoles, followed by COD, then some yearly sports titles and GTA.

No console without those games can succeed.

Where did I say anything about 30 million people? But I can assure you this will sell way more than Magnus.

I can assure you even if you remove those games, Playstation will still sell a lot more than Microsoft can ever achieve. And Steam console will still sell more than Magnus.

PS1 and Nintendo says hi. I doubt GTA contributed much to PSP sells.

I can't believe a post about Steam console's media server capabilities triggered you so much.

Also I looked up your online activity and lol

You seem to be a mod of r/xcloud and probably a member of Microsoft's official xcloud support team. You even advertised xCloud in the Stadia subreddit.

Ofcourse a Microsoft employee is triggered because I mentioned the media server capabilities of a Linux machine.

If it has haptics i will get it.
Original Steam controller had haptics on the trackpads. PS5 & Switch have it and MS patents suggests Xbox controller should get it for the next hardware iteration.
The industry clearly moves in the direction, so I think it's safe to say it'll have it.

Yep, I'm waiting for an Xbox Controller with such features. Too bad it's taking so long.

If they were a mod, it would say MOD next to their username.

The Steam controller tried to do many things at once, and did none of them well - it was one of the worst controllers I had ever used.
Hope they learned their lessons with the new one!

It's good for them that the new gamepad sparks curiosity rather than just offering another familiar combination of sticks and buttons.

I would like to try it out.

If it's like the leaked render instead of the icons, then it's just the Steam Deck's controls made into a controller.

IMO the trackpads on the Steam Deck are a major part of its killer sauce. Mapping mouse to an analog stick just doesn't where you need accuracy. And the haptics are crazy, there's a mouse wheel profile and it feels like a spinning wheel. The original Steam Controller was decent, but the single analog stick was limiting. A new Steam Controller 2 or whatever it would be called would be a huge part of Valve's push into set top boxes, not just in a VR environment.

I bought into the steam controller hype and bought it, used 10 min and never touched again.
I used it for gyro/motion aiming in TPS, and sometimes in platformers and fightings (it's easier and has more control), but switched to DualSense in the end. The new controlled doesn't look like a better option.
