So next gen xbox to have native keyboard mouse support

Looks like they gave up on home console market.

I personally want the Magnus X to be a 10" Tesseract though.
This level of excitement for a 1200 $ box?
Of course it's likely to run full windows. That doesn't mean it won't be a Console. Whether it's full windows or stripped down Windows, it's still a console with Console UI and Console optimized SKU of games.

Why is that so hard for you to comprehend?
Because Windows 11 is a downgrade from Xbox System Software.
Prove it.

To paraphrase what Sarah said, "with Xbox Ally, you can see the thinking behind what we're working on".

She never said the console will be EXACTLY like the Xbox Ally. She is referring to concepts like allowing PC storefronts seamlessly into the UI/UX. She is referring to letting OEMs build their own variants too, just like the Ally.

MS has explicitly referred to the devices as Consoles. "First party Consoles".
Yet you keep calling it a PC because?
You say "Prove it" then make a bunch of your own assumptions. The Xbox Ally OS is the most logical explanation of the OS that will run Magnus.
So this may finally come into play.

Qualcomm had a job listing mentioning Surface and Xbox portfolio built on Qualcomm chips.

With the GDK having native ARM64 support. MS would be in position to do a first party handheld using Qualcomm rather than AMD AT4 which is what the other Windows handhelds will use. Jez said they put it on hold but not given up.
Qualcomm is also very willing to give their chips for dirt cheap compared to AMD or Intel. It was reported that the Snapdragon Elite Plus in a Surface 11 was $150, and Elite X was $220, including the LTE module. Qualcomm wants to take market share. A Windows on ARM64 first party Xbox handheld wouldn't need to generate profit like the OEMs, and no licensing fees.

This Microsoft employee thinks MS is Apple. You think MS can make its own Rosetta, when they can't make a competent OS? If Xbox runs ARM, say goodbye to BC.

As per Xbox Rog Ally, no reason why it won't.

They'll use full PC functionality to justify the price.

Why bother making a new version of Windows just for this when it'll likely only sell a few million?

I think it will attract PC gamers more than the console gamers because of steam and high price tag. So all their games on steam library will work fine day1 as it has windows. Anyone with rtx 3070 or lower may be even 4070 owner will consider it. Also I think it has potential to reach 20 millions because devices like this cost 3000$

So ROG version, Legion and other OEM version at 1500-1600$ can attract steam users.

So is steam deck a console or PC, lol?

Careful before you answer this. I will probably agree with you but I've had this convo before. The board will become hostile if you call Steam Deck a console.

What about Rog Ally? Console or PC?

No, earlier plan was to make "Xbox PC" a more broad definition that could include chips from Intel/Qualcomm/NVIDIA, but now it's reserved for AMD devices AFAIK.

This looks like a roadmap to transition to PC. We know price will be key for mass console adoption and Sarah has already made it clear that it will be a premium priced product. Once they have the OEMs out will there be any reason to continue a console after next generation?

Sounds interesting for a Gaming PC but i already got myself a PC with a 9800x3d/5070TI so no need to bother with Xbox Next Gen then.
Which is sad because the XSX will be my last Xbox related hardware i will own and it never really got used to it's full potential.

It does seem they are transitioning 100% to PC

What I truly don't understand is why the wait?

Why the teases?

Why not roll out Xbox PC now?

I don't know these answers to these questions

Too many variations, screen sizes and use cases to support. If Ally X is any indication, they have a loooong road ahead. Doing this gradually and deliberately is probably the right decision. The next 2 years are likely going to be a drip feed of controlled releases and enhancements. The feedback would all go towards what the final "benchmark" experience would be with Magnus
