There was literally a dev from remedy saying on one of his videos comments that they will take in consideration what he was saying
He was very respectful and gave a professional reply, like anyone with a fucking brain cell in this industry would do.
What he doesn't understand is that fiddling with little demo optimization alone and using telemetries wrong to start a bait on youtube will not scale. No matter how he thinks he found the key, you then have to share that engine with >200 devs during the making of a game typically. You're not alone anymore. That's what the remedy dev said and Kevin is too fucking immature to even understand the message.
Say Kevin tomorrow somehow makes a branch of UE5. Send that to >50 studios, each with >200 devs. How many badly optimized "Kevin engine 5" do you think we'll see on youtube afterwards? Tons. There's no scaling of that guy doing little experiments with an engine and scalability of making a full blown complex game.
Also using telemetries not even supported by a Northlight engine. So all his milliseconds estimations are useless. Lol the remedy dev was very diplomatic. The little kid has no fucking ideas what's really going on behind the game.
Remedy existed before he was even born and has has made a dozen games under their belt including some stunners
What does Kevin have? Where's his high production value game? A single screenshot? Footage? How's his branch of UE5 coming along? Ah right, at point 0 because he has to find actual talent before and anyone in the field spending a day looking at his content will never apply for the job.
I been reading this forum for a long time, you have been shiting on this guy since the beginning when he started to get famous, way before any of the things you acuse him of doing
Look I'm even
ashamed of resharing these posts because I didn't know better back then. Unlike Kevin from TI, I can admit I was wrong
Kudos on the kid, he has balls. Pompous? Yea so what. Graphic geniuses bordering on autism are pretty much like that. They just never get the mic. The Cherno appreciated his videos and that's something, the dude was a graphic engine designer at DICE, just the motherfucking PEAK of Frostbite.
I mean we have devs that can barely lift the finger to include settings like Ultrawide when script kiddies implement a fucking mod or solution to hex edit within typically 24h a game releases. For sure they're just using UE5 plugins that they don't understand or optimize for, following what Epic...
Even
Zathalus
was warning us way before it clicked with me that something's wrong with the kid.
I understand the original need for TAA to remove aliasing while in motion but it's insane how bad it can look in some implementations
And the crazy thing is that UE and other devs when abusing/forcing TAA is that generally they will put effects at half resolution, clouds, hair, trees, etc. They have this dithered look on them. This is to save performances. So where the fuck is the performance?? There's games from a decade ago that pushes better graphics than some modern attempts and they have good image quality without TAA. Or hell, Doom with SMAA looks bloody amazing...
He lost me when legit veteran graphic engineers debunked piece by piece his nanite meltdown, which I shared videos of btw, not knowing that it was done with shoddy practice. If he had accepted the criticism and said "whoops, my bad, I'll correct the info thanks for the heads up", history could be very different, but no, he copyright claims other youtube channels.
Again, to reiterate, a fucking pussy for doing that.
I am not even saying that he's right but everywhere i see someone comment about him it's always hearsay or things unrelated, things like:
"he closed his discord server"
"he banned someone"
"He curse his mom"
Hearsay? Its not hearsay, its that the fucking pussy copyright claims all those sort of videos, multiple times. Peoples can lose their channels.
Even fuckTAA channel which basically spawned him
Or other debunk videos such as Ascendant dawn's
Or talking about his aparence, i didn't see anyone even close to respond what he's been saying, by the contrary, when try they almost always end by saying "yes he's right but this is just they way things work now"
You can't be serious. You must be looking as hard as you saying I always shit on him (which we find just a tad above that that's not true)
r/UnrealEngine5, r/gamedev, UE forums, etc all shit on him. They debunk him multiple times. Videos on the subject, copyright claimed. Dallas Drapeau almost lost his channel because this clown cowers from a real debate.
And look, we already had this discussion that you conveniently forgot
He actually talk exactly that on the video, no words where he's wrong, just about the "tone", "lack of experience" and so on
No words where he's wrong? There's plenty of videos that debunked him, a ton of UE devs on UE forums/Level1techs that debunked him, he's considered a clown mostly.
He fake copyright strikes the videos debunking him, which is illegal by the way.
And that's not at all how the youtube copyright takedown works
Otherwise almost all the videos of drama on youtube would be taken...
The fact is, there something obviously wrong when people who pay thousand dollars for the best hardware on the market can't play games that are at best a little better from what we had on last gen
Right
And again, I'll repeat, what do you think would happen if "Kevin engine 5" goes to >50 studios with >200 game devs and they make a multitude of different genres, graphical art styles? Do you really think it would hold up?
If one person making an engine and then making an AAA game could exist, I'm sure it would run butter smooth.
Everyone agrees that there's badly optimized games around, like who the fuck is denying that?
It's basically this
Dropping a ton of jargon that the audience has no understanding of, never share too much technical details (unlike hundreds of other youtuber devs), but always go for rage farming for an easy target that everyone and their grandmothers can agree on such as "games are unoptimized", never admit you're wrong and attack any experienced devs debunking you and while you're at it, its such a hot topic to shit on game performances, especially UE5, might as well ask for $900k while we're at it. - The grift
You too can go download UE5 and fiddle around with it for a year and look for tutorials and then you can make videos in bad faith about tiny demo performances and make believe to a bunch of uninformed peoples that it would scale like that to a big game and you're smart, devs are not.
