Half-Life 3 is in the Final Phase of Development – Rumour

If we put on our lambda shaped tin-foil hats and consider what remarkably evolved from game to game...

Half life - Novel storytelling & delivery
Half life 2 - Physics & Destruction
HL2 Episodes - intertwining other notable Valve game worlds
HL: Alyx - adapting the signature resource scrounging exploration loop into VR

What is a new half life game's design gimmick supposed be? Like really...If its not VR what does a new HL hang its hat on to impress again? VR crowbar combat, Story closure or answers to g-man just aint it.
How about it just being a good game, with a quirk or two of its own, nothing too revolutionary, that will, more than anything else, give fans of the series the sense of closure?

I have no doubt that Half-Life 3 is some form of development, whether it be conceptually, in pre-production, or testing. I also have no doubt that it will incorporate some innovative feature, most likely AI integration into NPC dialog.

And lastly, I have no doubt that it is not being announced today.

When GAF was down this morning I thought maybe Half Life 3 had been announced! Turns out it was just a Cloudflare outage. 😂

Yeah, exactly. I just want a good game. These demands that it be the most incredible and revolutionary game EVER are just insane and annoying. To make it worse after making such demands people then say ''well it can't possibly leave up to that standard therefore it will be disappointing''.

All I want is a good game. I'm sure Valve are ambitious and will have something interesting to add to the genre but these demands are just so ludicrously over the top.

Been the rumor for 10+ years.

No doubt Gabe scribbles down a few ideas when on his yacht. The crew is probably play testing concepts.

I don't know where people got the November 18 idea. This month? Maybe. But today of all days?
If anything, November 19 would've been more fitting, since Half-Life 1 came out on that day 27 years ago.

...and 27's cube root is 3.

I would rather say 1 hour and 25 minutes since they announce things at 7pm paris time. The same with Steam machine a couple days ago.

Half Life released in Nov 19th, HL 2 in Nov 16th, so kind of a good guess

I'm expecting Valve to announce it and release it at the same day, just 'cause they can

I doubt they care about maximizing sales (it would sell well regardless) , and droping this megaton on a Tuesday would be glorious

They're dropping it with the Steam machine. It will be bundled, me thinks.

Henderson said Valve won't have anything at TGA. Also that it would be a launch title, whatever it is. Let's assume Steam Machine release is March, then we should get at least some info on this mystery game way before that, hopefully actually before TGA.

Episode 3 in March bundled with all Steam Machines, HL3 Nov 2026.

Steam was kinda quick to have that curated The Game Awards page with all the nominations. Maybe TGA is the time to announce it? I'm just spit-firing here.

I think is coming eventually, after playing Alyx the ending had me in tears, as I saw a glimpse of hope for HL3 even if is for VR, please Valve make it happen!

This video covers rumors/data-mining that's led to people thinking Half-Life 3/X is imminent. He goes into the Source 2 engine, and the sort of dynamic fire/water/physics/NPC AI stuff people have found there, which would be very cool if it ever makes it to a game.

i had a dream last night of a 3 turning into an X. the 3 was formed of 4 straight lines and the lines just kind of slid to form the X. just wanted to put this here in case it really comes to pass.
