Nintendo's diminished mojo is allowing criticism to finally stick in the discourse cycle

i have not finished the game yet. but i think it's a six, a solid six a high six.
Story so far is a 5.
Graphics a 7.5.
gameplay 6.5 Boss fights are the best of the game.
sound design and bgm. 7 nothing to write about.
level design is 7.
overall this game is serviceable.

i am having somewhat fun and i am unimpressed.

yes, sad to say, I have no idea wtf they were thinking, but it's like go down go up go down go up so far. I will continue and finish it but prob not at 100%. It just feels like a chore going back to all those places.

I miss the level design of the first 2 Doom games. Not only for their non linear and unexpected critical paths, but also for their many secrets and hidden doorways. Not to mention you could move through their levels with real speed once you knew where to go.

All of those qualities make for navigation that is closer to 2D Metroid than what the Prime games have achieved.
I'd go as far as saying that the over reliance on scanning slows down navigation to an unacceptable degree.
