So........did they completely change up the game or something? Because this seems alot different for some reason.

So, is this game good? Kinda reminds me of Star Wars Outlaws in terms of a sorta redemption ark.
I only played the game at release so I don't know if the gameplay got better with updates, but the story is deadly boring. So much that I couldn't finish it.

It's beautiful tho so there's that but once the "wow" factor is over, there's nothing interesting left. If you play on PC take Ubi+ so at least you can try other games.

James Cameron is like one of the only people on Earth that legit intimidates me. Dude has zero fucks to give. Dude would BE Vegeta if he had the power, lol. I believe James Cameron would threaten to destroy the Earth if he had power over us. The only thing holding James Cameron back is him obtaining power.

I'm not a fan of Avatar. I saw someone criticizing it and he responded, and I'm paraphrasing, that basically all the money the movies had made would disagree with their assessment.

This man does not give a fuck.

So when I say I have not played this game yet, it's because I'm intimated by a man who broke the world record for deepest solo dive ever before he filmed Avatar.

I'll kick his butt in 1v1 irl.

They added 3rd person mode 6 months ago.
Huh? It wasn't available until this update. They added it internally but not for playing with.

I loaded my save again today to see third person in action and it's a game changer.

This game on ps5 pro using amd fsr3 over pssr in quality 60fps mode is stunning. Top 3 best looking console games easily.

Animations and traversing the world in third person felt like what this game was missing.

I'm in the middle of BG3 and DoS2 side by side so I'm not going to add this into my current rotation yet but will be next on my docket.

I've been playing since the 3rd person update they did a few weeks ago with a buddy co-op. I gotta admit, I like it quite a bit. It is a stunning game, mechanically it's pretty safe and follows a familiar Far Cry formula, but it puts a lot more emphasis on gathering and crafting, which thematically fit pretty well with the franchise. I'm not quite done with the main story, but it seems pretty boring and trite in general, doesn't diminish the fun I'm having with the game. There's something pretty magical in traversing across giant trees, waiting for the right time of day and weather condition to harvest a plant while avoiding predators and RDA on the forest floor. It's a cool time. They nailed the art direction and technology.

Way better than I was wanting to give it credit for and I'm glad I picked it up. Looking forward to getting to the dlc's and then eventually From the Ashes content.

I bought the game at launch and while I had fun in the 15-20 hours I spent with it, the game just felt like something was missing. I couldn't quite place what I was feeling. Maybe this third person update, of which I was not aware, will give me that little bit of motivation to wrap up the play through. I usually restart new games if I invested significant time on a run but did not finish. Once I get everything flowing good and a grasp of what I am doing and where the story is going, I will drop my new run and pick back up with the original play through and then make an effort to complete the game, unless its a situation where my new run is looking optimal compared to the previous play time.

They added it with the update before this one. This update is for the new DLC.

Boring as shit. Pretty to look at, but the usual Ubisoft bullshit. Awful writing, forgettable story, a bunch of map markers with repetitive quests, all in the service of microtransactions.

3rd person was badly needed. I'll pick up the Fire and Ash version on sale. Its $40 now so I'll consider it around $20.

Check out how the guy Andrejz Sapkowski (writer of the Witcher books) pisses of the witcher fanbase. That dude is blunt as hell.

And yeah, cameron is well known for his perfectionism and ignoring the rules. I believe for his first movie, he broke into the studio and started editing it according to how he wanted it. Got caught and fired. This was before terminator btw.

I do think he's a talented guy in the unique position of creating what he wants with unlimited budget. Criticized Oppenheimer for not showing the people who actually died in the nuclear bombing. And really should be spending time on tragedy movies which actually showcase human suffering (similar to Titanic). But is spending his remaining life on 3d tech and blue people movies but oh well, not my life.

They made a remark about the film being at 47fps and said people don't like it.

He said 2.8 billion dollars disagrees with that remark. He also said it's his movie and he likes to film that way.

Add context next time.

He was/is right.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand James Cameron movies. The depth, action and story is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the scenes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Cameron's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation of the characters in his movies- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these movies, to realise that they're not just deep- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike James Cameron movies truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgement Day existential catchphrase "I'll be back" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Cameron's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens/movie screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have an Avatar tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

Honestly, if you play videogames you shouldn't have a problem with HFR. It's the superior way of experiencing action sequences. It's the anti-shaky cam. You can see the motions much more clearly, no matter how fast they're going.

I can understand people who don't game being taken aback, but people who play action games complaining about it is nuts for me and there were plenty of critics back when the Hobbit trilogy tried it for a hot second.

Does it have nvidia frame gen now? This is the bad part in gaming when they wanna sell you dlss this frame gen that, then this game comes along and pushing tech and you get dlss only due to some stupid amd deal probably..
Anyway the game was okay at best, of course looks amazing and had some good moments but got boring thanks to the dumbass story. Though I might be curious to check out the 3rd person now.
Probably picking this new expansion up later when on sale and after the new movie hits streaming and watched it.

Avatar may be the lamest IP in existence. The first movie was already a very bad copy of Dancing with Wolves and the others are just insufferable slop. How somebody would want to extend the 3-hour torture of the movies to +40 hours of videogame is beyond my comprehension.
