PS5 ROM keys leaked

Yes, but I bet a lot of people are going to avoid firmware updates, so they can keep their PS5 jailbroken.
Yeah… I gotta go turn off automatic updates

Well, I have a ps5 I was going to sell… haven't used it in a while. Maybe I'll hold on a bit more?

For someone like me that isn't a hacker (I hate anything with software that doesn't work easily) or anything like that and has zero interest in piracy, does this mean nothing?

My biggest concern is if this will impact online gaming for people.
Console hacking typically takes years to mature, and this is just one piece of the puzzle needed to fully exploit the system. We still need an exploit entry point, hypervisor escape, etc before this becomes actually "useful". If you're not interested in piracy then "useful" just means game patches (60fps Bloodborne), emulators for older systems, and potentially even alternate operating systems like Linux or SteamOS running on the console.

Eagerly awaiting the first Steam OS on PS5 videos.

these stuff usually don't amount to anything piracy-wise in today's always online, "broken without 5 months worth of patches" world. but homebrew , emulation stuff could be enticing
maybe good idea to buy another ps5 to keep on the side offline for this?
Finding myself wishing I had kept one honestly.

I'm pretty sure there's already an "install app" function being pushed to ETA HEN as a result of this. Doors are now WIDE open for entry-level homebrew to streamline all manner of exploits.
To a degree. Barely any PS5 games were playable before.
All games up to that FW, haha. And then subsequent updates to get it up to fw 10.xxx.. it's been exploited since 2021.

PS3 emulator when?

Bloodborne .ini edit for 1440p/60fps when?

You might be able to pirate PS5 games at some point in the future.

You might be able to do shit ton of fun stuff with PS5 (emulation, fixes for games that were never patched etc.). I love that corporate bootlickers focus only on piracy...

Thank you! I appreciate it. I don't understand how these things work so it's good to understand this better

interesting... would this also mean Xbox and Nintendo keys soon?

Wonder if the platform holders cannot blacklist certain keys granted to certain publishers?
I mean I am just guessing - I don't even know if 3rd parties would have these keys - but the timing seems on the nose.

Someone please tell me - will this make my PS5 worth more, or less?
No change until a hardware revision comes out that changes the keys.

Install anything you want to play now and keep it offline. It will be more valuable in the future. But this is like the Switch 1 where a whole lot of consoles were exploitable. We'll have to see if this can be patched or not. Or if they will remain vulnerable forever like the effected Switch revisions.

When ratchet and clank with the secret sauce SSD was announced we were told that this game were never being playable on PC.
Works fine on a decent rig.

Sony said PS3 emulation is not possible, and people heavily debated that PS3 games would never run on pc due to how complex the architecture is.
We are having PS3 emulation that doesn't require a super expensive price.

All these emulators doesn't require 10.000 dollar PCs.

It's a worn out meme that PC gaming is this expensive.

You dont need to buy the very best rig to play PC games.

I meant you'll need the nowaday priced RAM to run Emulator, OS, Chatbots Anti malware and of course VPNs

Great, now all the people out there could mod their console to pirat... ehm, preserve their games to the max!

Console modding & PC emulation will be much faster (probably still take years to perfect) I'm assuming, since emulation devs can now understand exactly how games communicate with the console hardware & build their emulators based on that.
No consumer grade PC is emulating PS5 with as good results any time soon.

It's just a matter of time before console prices skyrocket thanks to ram prices.

Why do you need chatbot for?
I'm rocking Windows Defender without any issues.
VPN is optional. I use it on all my devices.

When you'll be able to play on PC without all the unwanted stuffs you get from Microsoft and friends call me, in the meantime pay for more hardware for nothing

modding PS4 games to be free of their limitations.

Bloodborne 60fps patch is an example.
and yes, you can emulate it, but not without issues still.
I don't really care about that… Jailbreaking is about stealing software for 99% of people. I'm not opposed to it at all but lets not fool ourselves.

In the grand scheme of things there are only a very small amount of people who care about this. And an even smaller amount that will actually take advantage of it.

Usually this is big news. However, jailbreak to play what games? Basically all ps5 games are available on ps4 and pc?

+ Driveclub 60, Last Guardian 60, Gravity Rush 2 60 etc.

A lot of people care about this stuff. And we don't care that you don't care.

Here we go with the fake virtue signaling. We all know you just want to steal games. Own it and stop hiding behind "modding". 99% of people who jailbreak do so to steal games and to cheat in games. That's it. Just own it, nobody cares. We're not here to arrest you.

Can't call you, you are out from this world and my phone signal cannot reach that far.

that's not really the case anymore.
these days people mostly care about homebrews and mods when consoles are jailbroken.

if you want to pirate games, the PC is right there, and all games are basically already on there anyways.
it takes maybe 2min to find a free download of say Cyberpunk on PC. and you don't have to do anything to install it.

like, a modded Switch is great for modifying games and running homebrew, while pirating games on Switch is almost best done on PC with an emulator anyway.

Hmmm… 5 years into the cycle? I'll file this unto "not an issue". Consoles has been hacked waaaaaaaay before this in other generations.
If its an issue, it can only be for SONY. Either way I dont see anyone here sayingits an issue, they are celebrating it. Same thing happened to the PS4 and people are even today selling hacked consoles with installed games.
