Microsoft CEO Really Wants You to Stop Calling Generative AI 'Slop'

I am torn.

On the one hand, AI is slop

On the other hand in the last 10 years, a lot of human made things have been complete shit.

If you ask me to choose between ai slop and concord for example, I am going to have a rough time.
Products and services have been deliberately made worse. Google did it quite expressly. Microsoft is making Bing worse so people rely on AI more to force adoption. Don't be fooled: AI isn't a solution, it's a problem. And the problem is: paying people wages.

https://www.tipranks.com/news/microsoft-msft-eyes-major-january-layoffs-as-ai-costs-rise

Microsoft Corporation MSFT +1.20% ▲ is reportedly planning another round of job cuts in January 2026. Estimates suggest between 11,000 and 22,000 roles could be removed worldwide. That would equal about 5% to 10% of its total workforce of roughly 220,000 employees.

The cuts are expected to take place in the third week of January. Reports from workers point to Azure cloud teams, the Xbox gaming unit, and global sales as key areas of focus. So far, Microsoft has not confirmed the plan. This move would follow a difficult 2025. During that year, Microsoft cut more than 15,000 jobs across several rounds. Those actions came even as revenue and profit stayed strong.

Now we see why Microsoft and the remaining shills were so quick to respond to S SneakersSO 's post here; they KNEW he was right and wanted to discredit them and the rumor.

And all it did was buy them a few weeks' time before the truth came out anyway. Garbage company.

Humans' work is generally slop too. (naturally I include myself in that assessment)
So whatever, AI won't go away, and unlike humans will definitely get better.

The bad part is, if AI fails to deliver massive returns its going to crush the US economy. Every big firm and investor has bazillions invested in it.
At this point our economy is going to be crushed by idiot fucking warmongers getting us isolated from the rest of the world anyway, so what's an AI implosion on top of that.

Neither of those things are going to happen mate. First, AI is going to take off this year. People will discover it for the first time and it is really getting good. Gemini hit some major theoretical benchmarks towards the end of last year and at this pace will be indistinguishable from a human by most tests sooner than we think.

So why won't this go belly up? Sure AI will help us cure and treat cancers by identifying and attacking this internal entropy directly and it will save many lives. It will make billions but that's chump change honestly.

OpenAI adult mode is coming and that will be the first step towards artificial companionship on a large scale. This is going to hit the world hard. Think of how many lonely men are out there who want sexbots, well they exist just not in physical form but you can talk with them and do many things with them. That is gonna be a gamechanger because of how humans are wired. Many or even most of our young men are lonely and the traditional relationship pattern is closed off to them, perhaps by their own doing. This then is an outlet for that, which will inevitably become rather popular as long as it is offered in an easy to access format and as long as it is good enough. The only risk here is that AI is so decentralized is is basically a free tech at the consumer/companion level but they are currently working out the upcharges and ways to monetize this. Currently it is pretty rudimentary when it comes to pricing. I think chatgpt has like a 20 dollar a month plan and a 200 dollar a month plan, so that will improve and allow more granularity soon and also they may start selling services adhoc or by usage in addition to features. Sure some companies are fumbling their ai rollout, ie copilot, but some AI is really starting to blow up. People will start full scale adoption this year and we will see how it shakes out.

The AI partners we built today will be in our sex bots of tomorrow and also they will be our personal assistants as well. You can't stop what's coming.

As far as the "idiot fucking warmongers getting us isolated from the rest of the world" I'm guessing this is about some current political event you are overreacting to, but I'll leave you to your own devices on that one. Just...you may be worrying too much. Does my post sound AI to you? I didn't use AI to write ANY of it but if I did I doubt anyone could tell.

Thats the most depressing thing I've read all week. Hopefully it was written by AI

Hopefully these companies will start to realize "wait... consumers don't give a shit about our new multi-trillion dollar push?"

It's taking a bit but companies are starting to see that no one gives a shit about AI. The ship is being turned but slowly because so much money has been invested companies don't want to admit it. I see a lot of companies running into the same situation FB did with Metaverse. Billions in losses with nothing to show for it.

AI PCs are just laptops with neural processing units (NPUs). NPUs have existed in many smartphones for years. If you have a newish smartphone it may have an NPU.

Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini. They're all too restricted. Try to use any of them for art and add a perfectly normal addition of body teeease in there and they all go "Nope.".
Try Grok instead. You can still hit a censor wall but you can at least trick it through Imagine to get something interesting out of it.
My main usage is for work productivity, and I found it myself that Gemini can match my prompts best and facilitate the tasks.

I'm sure there are limits when it comes to social or political opinions, and that's why I don't use AI for those.

Haven't used Gemini for work. But I have a higher tier Copilot, through Gamepass or work email or whatever not sure where it comes from tbh, so that's the go-to AI here. Then I usually use Grok for more artsy and fun stuff. But I've tried them all on art, same prompt on multiple AIs to see their strengths and weaknesses. You don't have to go for politics or porn or anything like the to reach those weird AI blocks, they pop up here and there and I haven't really understood why it happens. Grok is definitely the least strict one anyhow.

I find that for longer conversations and deep research, Gemini is better.

However I manage to get better overall daily productivity results from ChatGPT. The structure, quality of results and overall approach just works better and you can customize it more vs Gemini (unless you use API for it).

And of course for dev, Opus 4.5 is just bonkers now, and can't be beat basically. I am a Claude Code believer now, lol.

I feel like there should be a video of Satya Nadella eating a bunch of slop. Maybe all the CEO's who are forcing all this AI crap in our faces, have them all eat a bunch of slop together.
