Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined getting a demo on 1/7 for all platforms. Progress carries over.

oh? Like slow and had to grind or just very long?
Not grindy but just very drawn out. Very slow start, slow moving story, and lots of tracking back and forth between the present and the past. It took like 25 hours just to reach the point where you unlock the job system.

I didn't have the patience to finish it but this shows 75 hours for just the main story, 130 hours if you're a completionist (for the 3DS version):

I'm interested to see if the remake does anything to improve the pacing.

I truly love the 3DS version but i'm afraid i'm done with the game but i recommend it strongly for people that haven't played it yet.

They specifically mentioned changes to the games pacing, so I'm hopeful. Early demo impressions also say that the job system is unlocked from the beginning, though character just have "starter jobs" in the demo. People are also saying that several of the games areas in the beginning section are much smaller than they were in the PS1 and even 3DS game, so there's less wandering around.

Kind of both. The original one takes a hell long of a time before you can even have an battle. They tried to make it look more like an adventure. But they already changed a lot in the 3DS Remake and it's probably even faster now.

Also the game can be grindy sometimes, specially since you only unlock the jobs after a lot of time, it's like the game system really starts from that point.

Also there is a LOT of extra content, side-quests, etc.

OG DQ7 is an big ass game.

I'm apparently in the minority at large about this game, but I think the art style is absolutely atrocious. It's like they mixed Bratz dolls into the original models.

Dragon quest 7??

The longest demo of my life... I'll feel like I'm level 60 after 40 hours...

Square Enix - - No, buddy... this is barely the prologue. 😨😨😨

Tried ps5 and switch 2 now, and I'm not sure I'm picking this up at launch now, I hate the depth of field blurring effect they have used it's too strong and kicks in too soon no matter where you are and which view you use - far or near it's still too strong
It's really putting me off playing further as it just makes it look like there's something wrong with my eye sight except that small circle of sharpness in the middle - blurry mess the rest of it and no options to alter it

I don't know if I have another play through in me, lol. I think I finally dropped 3DS after like 50-60 hours. It was just too long.

Downloading it now.

Also wish Monster Hunter Stories 3 got a demo as well. That game gonna be must overlook game this year.

I've been playing it a bit on Switch 2, in handheld mode.

It looks and runs great, at a solid 60FPS.

Since there's no real physical release, I'll buy it on a good enough eShop sale in 2030 or so.

I tried the demo, the game looks great and plays nicely. The music is also very good. The only thing I dont understand is that they are asking 60 dollars for a PS5 disc, but the game doesnt even have voice acting, only text to read. Come on, its 2026... Without voice acting, I will only buy it at a big discount.

How does the pacing compare to the 3DS version? Those first few hours in that one felt slow as hell.

So it appears character models for some female characters are covered up with more clothes in this remake? Always a good idea to censor your sales.

Afraid so, yeah. It's not as ridiculous as what they did for the warrior in III, but it's there.

Makes me wonder what else they might have changed.

They changed the dialogue. Did you expect them to leave this? It is too offensive for modern players.
Call it benefit of the doubt :goog_relieved:

Square sure sucks nowadays. Guess just remaking the games faithfully is too much to ask for.

Any comparisons?....Tempted for the switch 2 version but want to see how it compares to console and PC, ideally.

Just learned that Kiefer means "jaw" in german.

Everything makes sense now.

Did you ever play the Playstation original? The 3DS version was lightning fast compared to that.
No, but I know they did trim the intro for that version which is what makes me wonder if they've done the same for this remake.

I'm a new Dragon Quest fan. Been playing Dragon Quest 1 Remastered and absolutely loving it. Seems like a great time to be a fan of the series. Looking forward to playing the demo for this.

STILL no steam? This is embarrassing

The DQ title screen music never fails to improve my mood, I should play that shit up at work.
Music in general is amazing, and the graphics are great, but the character design is terrible. The big head chibi look is gonna be a tough hurdle to get over, it just looks so bad. I'm gonna have to look at this crap for 40+ hours ffs.
Wish it had a 2D mode like the last big DQ.

Still looking forward to playing it for the first time ever. DQ is one of the very few jrpgs I enjoy because it sticks to its roots.
